aw look at that little pink hat! she is so adorable, congrats samtoby :D makes me more excited to meet my little girl!

today I was in the supermarket and I started getting these really strange low down twingey pains, they were so uncomfortable I had to stop and I was probably making a lovely grimacing face! they stopped after about 2 minutes though, has anybody had this? my friend said possible Braxton hicks but I thought they are meant
be in your stomach! it was weird.

    Lovely pictures Samtoby

I always thought braxton hicks were felt in the tummy but when I described similar feelings to the midwife (like a knitting needle being stabbed up there) she told me I was having braxton hicks. For me I tend to get them in the evening time, especially if I have been busy during the day.

Samtoby - Chloe looks adorable!! Such lovely photos. So glad you are both doing well xx

That sounds absolutely horrible, Mary! I'd write a calm, formal letter of complaint if I were you - after you have the baby, if that makes you feel happier until then?

    <hugs>

I've considered it but from previous experience of complaining about an nhs experience before it was very drawn out and painful to keep going over everything. I hope the other midwife speaking to her will be enough to make her reconsider the way she speaks to people, but to be honest it just shouldn't happen in the first place :(

I'm not in labour - but am experiencing very uncomfortable false labour, painful Braxton-Hicks, and have had a bloody show. So it looks positive for beating the c-section back-up and having a VBAC! Crossed fingers, anyway.

Yay for VBAC!!!! It could well be early labour?! especially if you've had your show! :j come on Aetherbald, we're all waiting for you!! xxx

don't look at me! I need to hold out til at least friday lol! :rotfl:

Chloe is absolutely gorgeous samtoby :) you must be thrilled xxx
  • Hope you managed to enjoy the rest of your day after your bad experience with the midwife mary.

Fingers crossed for you NDG that this could be the start of labour, it would be nice to see someone on the thread have a VBAC, it will give me hope that I can have one too!

Lovely pictures samtoby, your little boy looks very pleased to be a big brother!

Vickyvics the midwife is right, you will know once you're in labour, I know that's not helpful! Braxton hicks are uncomfy but easy to cope with, once my proper contractions started with DS I could certainly tell the difference!

firey - I've got just under 9 weeks to go and keep getting all kinds of weird and wonderful pains. I had this for at least a month before DS arrived so I think it's pretty normal!

I've had a lazy weekend, I've only got dressed to take OH to/from work as he doesn't drive and public transport isn't great on a weekend. My blood sugars seem back under control since I upped the dose of metformin. DS is being really sweet and lifting my top up to say hello to the bump, she seems to respond to his voice and moves when he speaks.

yes! that's exactly what it felt like, with the knitting needle description ha! maybe it was that then. I'm a bit paranoid that I'm going to go into early labour as I haven't got the best of cervix's (ha!) so any twinge makes me scared! I just want her to hang on in there for a little while longer yet :)

I never thought that the knitting needle pain could be Braxton Hicks, I thought they were in your stomach too. Though I did describe the pain to OH as like someone shoving a hot poker up there!

Apologies for my absence on here! Work and pregnancy seem to have got in the way of things recently!

I am now 34+3 - scary how quickly that has come around! We have had a few growth scans as bump is measuring small, but scans say baby is on the 19th centile and on track to be a 6-7lber so not too small! Baby is also being awkward and is currently breech so lots of trying to get it turn before our next scan in a few weeks time!

Will try and catch up and to personals soon, congratulations to all the new mums and hope those due this week have their babies very soon!

Fireyfirenze and Moonbabe58 - Thats what I thought! I was panicking over the pain and got checked out by the midwife and she said I was just having braxton hicks. For weeks before I had been going on about how I hadn't had a single hick and it turns out I had been having them all along lol.
