Names list for Aelthebald - I can see the poor little sod actually ending up being called Aelthelbald at this rate!
Our previous shortlist - Daniel, David, Benjamin and Jonathan - all ruled out for good by OH apart from Daniel which is a cautious "maybe" (don't imagine enthusiasm, here).
OH had a burst of ideas this evening, though - Seth, Aaron, and Elijah.
What do you think? Honest opinions welcome even if they are, "are you insane?!"...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Vicky thanks for doing the list, I knew I'd mess it up lol!
sunshine that is so rude! I can't believe they said that!
When I was weighed at my booking appt the midwife told me that it was important not to put on "too much more weight" as it would be bad for me and the baby and told me how important it was to eat healthily.
I probably would have taken it better if the midwife wasn't around a size 26 herself! (I'm a 16) so I just said "yes, that's just common sense really". She couldn't tell if I was joking or not lol
ha same here, I'm a 16-18 and the midwife was much bigger too. I hate how people keep mentioning my weight, or 'maternal body habitus' as written on my scan reports! Yes my BMI was 37 at booking but it's obviously not been an issue thus far, I'm all on track for a midwife led birth with no medical problems with me or little HB. I've gained 13lb in my 34+4 weeks of pregnancy, and given that little HB is about 5lb already I'm pretty pleased with myself!
ndg, I think names are such a personal thing. Someone's love is someone elses hate. My pregnant colleagues are planning on calling their new arrivals Woody and Keelan (if they have boys), where I just couldn't do that, I'm not keen on the names and it just wouldn't suit us! We are toying with more traditional names that I love, but someone at work called me 'unoriginal'! You just can't win!0 -

I hope it's ok to join. I'm 25+5 today and due on the 16th August. We are team yellow through choice and it's our first baby. I had to cancel my midwife appointment for this week so now have that next week. Not to sure what they do at 25 week appointment?
Hope everyone's ok and don't mind me joining.
Hi disney, I had my 25 week appointment on tuesday, she did urine, blood pressure and listened for baby's heartbeat like credit crunch said it doesn't take long. Then she told me that it's bloods and anti-d at my 28 week and asked if baby had been active and that was it.0 -
Congratulations to the new mummies!!!
WElcome to the newbies
Neverdespairgirl - my friend's son is called Elijah - everyone calls him Lijah thoughsophiasmum wrote: »Anybody with children already.... - are you buying your children a present off the baby??? Im looking for ideas! xI'm planning to get my 3 year old a toy baby with toy versions of the things I'll be using. Not really looked into it properly yet but the idea is he can bath his baby while I bath the real one etc!
I am doing this too. I already bought the doll which comes with moses basket, she has a pram already, and I put the bottle in the recycling cos in this house we breastfeed.
It is from us though, not the baby (cos babies can;t shop!) and just to celebrate her being a big sister. She will be five so I'm not anticipating major issues with her.
I had my growth scan this week and all is well. We saw baby swallowing and moving around, and saw its beautiful face tooI declined the GTT and have been told as I had a GBS swab last pregnancy that was negative, I don;t need another one. Robots that may be of interest to you?
I am off on holiday to Portugal on Saturday before I get too big. Am 28 weeks so have my fit to fly letter and it also mentions that my syringes have to go in the plane itself - should be fun getting through security! DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

sunshine "maternal body habitus"?! honestly some of the names they come up are just bizzare!
I just hate the hypocrisy of it - makes me want to say don't tell me not to put on weight when I'm growing a baby and you're just eating crap! :rotfl:
I think I was about 32 bmi when I booked in, at the last weigh I'd put on 8lb (this was about 4 weeks ago when I sneaked on the scales at the national space centre and pretended I was measuring my weight on different planets, but really I just wanted to see how much I'd gained lol!)
I estimate I've put on another 3-4lb so I've put on either a stone or just under. I think your 13lb is very good - as you say the baby weighs a decent size now so that accounts for a fair bit of the weight.
NDG What about Ishmael? (or however you spell it!) Isaac and Ishamel sounds nice - it depends what your surname is too (obviously you don't need to put that on here lol!) as you have to sound the names out with the surname too.
We've had her name for ages, but ironically her initials spell LEC and I'm just waiting for all the bad jokes about electric shocks after the incident a few weeks ago!0 -

Ishmael would go down like a lead balloon in Israel - next worst to Mohammad, I think! Muslims are seen as descended from Ishmael, by themselves as well as by Christians and Jews.
I envy you having made a decision! Initials don't sound bad to me. One of my school friends was called Rebecca Clare, and it never occured to her parents that she might be called "Arsey" as a result until it happened!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Sophiasmum - Glad you are sleeping better but I have to say I am jealous of your sleep! I think I must be hitting a insomnia phase. I'm alright once I am asleep, but getting to sleep is another story xx
[/QUOTE]
Knew I had spoken too soon!!! gutted - am up tonight. Had a couple of hours sleep and now am up drinking a cup of decaff coffee browsing MSE.
Hope the rest of you are sleeping better x
Skintchick - my youngest is 5 as well....I may get her a doll as she still loves her dolls. My eldest is 7 and wouldn't want one! I can imagine the comments. (they grow up too fast) Yes - perhaps you are right, off us rather than baby - Im remembering giving DD1 a present 'off the baby' when DD2 was born - but she was only 2 and didn't understand what on earth was going on! Enjoy portugalxx0 -
ndg &mary, I was just about to mention that, Ismail is a very Muslim name! I know about 5 through children I meet at work!
me and my oh decided on a name ages ago and have kept it secret from everyone else because I think it's nice to have a surprise. it's a name iv loved since I was 16! only thing is I know 3 people due around the same time as me (2 slightly before) and iv got this horrible feeling what if they use the name and then I can't!
sophiasmum I am in the 3-5am club once again. I have to get up for work in 45 mins so it seems pointless trying to go back to sleep.
AFM for the last couple of days I have had the worst symptom of pregnancy so far...pilesabsolutely horrible...I wouldn't wish them on anybody!
baby is having a little dance this morning, she's excited about something ha.
hope everyone has a nice day.0 -

well now I feel stupid lol! I was just thinking of names that sounded nice together - can't believe I didn't consider the religious aspect! sorry, I didn't mean any offence!
"Arsey! is hilarious! reminds me of the parents who called their son Drew Peacock and didn't realise the joke until after he'd been registered, it was in the news a few years ago.
We named Dylan when I was about five months gone before, I really hate people referring to babies as "it" and having his name helped us develop a bond with him.
I've found the same this time too, except Dylan has pretty much told everyone he meets that his little sister is called "X" so it's not much of a secret anymore lol!0 -
