Haven't had (or now got) time to read anything, but Aethelbald (real name firming up, but not definite, yet) arrived at 5.43am on Monday morning (12th May). We got home yesterday, but I haven't touched my computer until now, and my mother's just arriving so I'll be quick now and post a photo and more details later.

When I posted to say I was in false labour, events turned out to prove me wrong - and so having started labour about 6pm on Sat, OH Isaac and I went to hospital on Sunday afternoon and it was definitely labour by then.

He's lovely, gorgeous, utterly wonderful, and has fair skin, reddish-brown hair, and is altogether rather sweet. I accept I'm a wee bit biased, but still in post-birth euphoria!

Did manage VBAC, by the skin of our teeth, forceps delivery with C-section about to follow immediately, which fortunately wasn't needed.

Hope my due-date-buddies Mary and Vicky are happy and healthy too.

    Woohoo!!! :j:j:j:j:j

Many congratulations NDG and yay for your VBAC!!!

He sounds lovely you must be so happy :)

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."

  • We decided to escape the rain and go away to the coast for a couple of days where it was sunny - looks like it's all been happening while we've been away.

moonbabe - hope your baby turns before the birth.

Disney, sunshine and Bumblebee - hope you manage to get some physio and that it helps.

purcy - hope all goes well with your scan and appointment. I have my next scan and appointments for gestational diabetes on Tuesday. Glad the physio manage to help you too.

sophiasmum - glad you will get to go to the birth centre afterall.

firey - I keep getting bad cramp in the night and it doesn't fully go for at least a day after. I have zero pain tolerance, but to be honest I coped with the pain of labour better than I cope with cramp, cramp is constant whereas at least you get a minute or so's break in between contractions. After about 6 and half hours of my contractions being 2 minutes apart and lasting a minute I ended up having an epidural, and that stopped all pain! With cramp if OH is home I get him to pull me to my feet, it's painful whilst I'm getting on my feet but eases much faster once stood up and moving than staying in bed and getting him to move my leg. He moved my toes the wrong way making it even worse last time!

glimmer - hope everything is OK with baby, and that you get more answers next week.

Vickyvics - hope all is going well with your labour, although you've possibly had baby by now!

Lara - hope you manage to get some rest now, I'd be terrified of flying at 34 weeks! (Not that there's any chance of me being allowed a fit to fly note!)

good luck with your induction on Friday mrshappy.

mary - hope things move along soon for you after your false alarm!

NDG congratulations on the birth of your little boy and for getting your VBAC, glad you didn't have to have another c-section, although forceps do sound painful!

chelseablue hope you get a chance to take it easy now before your baby arrives.

When it wouldn't stop raining we booked our above mentioned trip to the coast as OH assured me it was sunny there, only a couple of hours away though as I'm too scared to go any further. Booked a standard room on bed, breakfast and evening meal basis at a good price, although the food wasn't the best but it was cheap! We also got upgraded to a suite free of charge which was nice. Although the electrics were really old and kept blowing when I tried to plug in my laptop so I've had to do without it for a couple of days! It was a bit like faulty towers but we had a nice time and DS loved running on the beach. My back and pelvis are starting to go now though and I'm getting a lot of shooting pains deep inside my bump/lady bits. I'm glad this is baby number 2 as otherwise I might have worried that labour was starting. My pain isn't SPD though, it's existing damage to my pelvis and stomach muscles. I tried physio when expecting DS but they weren't able to help, and as I'm 32 weeks on Friday it's probably too late to do anything now anyway. At the moment I'm wondering if I'll make it through my last 2 weeks at work, I'm hoping the pain eases. At this stage with DS I wasn't able to walk far unaided so I'm surprised my pelvis and back have held out this long, and to be fair I did walk a couple of miles at least each day. Baby getting very active now, and it feels like she's pushing down and trying to come out a lot of the time, but I remember having weeks of this with DS so I know it's nothing to get over excited about!

Hope everyone is doing well and looking forward to more birth announcements shortly!

Glad you had a nice time away aquamarinemonkey x

Can't believe you are still working chelseablue hope it was a good last day! My last day is tomorrow when I will be 35+4 and am more than ready to!

I work in a psychiatric hospital, and when you get pregnant you get moved to one ward where risks are lowest and the patients are ready for discharge, so officially I'm not their staff but today they bought me a pressie - a nice Boofle babygro and a few other bits, nearly cried I was so honoured! Still haven't processed in my brain that when I finish work tomorrow it's to have a baby and I won't be back until next year!
