Morning ladies,
I am home now from hospital so I have updated what I can but its hard with only one arm free - Chloe is in the other feeding/ sleeping.
Hope someone can take over the list and I will be watching out for updates!

Happily Married since 20160 -
Samtoby - glad you and Chloe are home
CMace2 - me and OH weren't married when I had DS but didn't even cross my mind not to give him OH surname. We are now married but my understanding is we will still need to reregister and pay (cannot remeber why)
Welcome to all the newbies
AFM we had a lovely picnic at Woburn with my sis, bil her 3 boys and my mum yesterday for my mums birthday, it was a lovely sunny day and the boys all played football and explored the trees. NDG - hope you manage to get your VBAC, not long to go for you now!
firey - sorry didn't mean to scare anyone by giving the details of the GTT and what happened after. It's better they detect it rather than not as there are serious risks if it goes undiagnosed, but obviously if they are aware you have it and you're getting the right treatment it does lessen the risks.
Have you been refered to a physio for your pain. I was with DS but it wasn't PGP causing it so they couldn't really help me, but I think it helps for some women.
samtoby - congratulations on the birth of Chloe - lovely name. Thanks for doing the lists.
Debs - congratulations on the birth of your son - hope you recover from you're c-section quickly, make sure you don't overdo it.
welcome to the the thread derby, scotsbride, hwoolgar.
mary, vickyvics and glimmer - hope you make your concerts. I had a ticket to a concert when I was 40+1 with DS, I had to very reluctantly accept I couldn't go a few days before though as I had complications so sold my ticket to a friend of a friend at face value. It was just as well really as I was in hospital on the day of the concert having had DS that morning!
Mrs Muffin - the metformin is working for me, I was started at 500g a day with an increase to 1000g after a few days and so far I haven't had a high reading since I started taking it. I've also been to a wedding this weekend, where my meal choices had already been made and my readings were still fine even though I would usually avoid some of the food I had. I hope all goes well at your next appointment. I think they like to try you on metformin first to see if it works, then if not then try insulin.
The hospital are ringing me on Tuesday to see how I'm getting on with the metformin. I'm feeling much better the last few days, so I'm not sure if they are going to tell me to increase the dose or not. My readings were so high the majority of the time before I was dubious whether metformin alone would work, but so far so good. The consultant did say if it works I could relax what I eat a little after a couple of weeks, but I'm trying to be on my best behaviour for the sake of baby. Fingers crossed metformin works for you too!
sophiasmum - your spa day sounds wonderful. I've had a few jacuzzis this pregnancy, and did with DS, I just make sure that my bump isn't underwater too long so baby doesn't overheat.
Lara - sounds like you got a bargain with the bag and nappies, was it a bounty voucher you had?
jen - hope your baby waits until your mum and OH are home!
skintchick - I'm 30+3 and have actually lost 7kg (just over a stone) - however my BMI was 39 at booking in so I was told it would be beneficial if I did lose weight and I also have gestational diabetes so I've had to cut all the rubbish out of my diet, so it's no wonder my weight is dropping as I'm a chocoholic and a cakeaholic usually. With DS I lost 1 and half stone in the first trimester due to hyperemisis then proceeded to put on 5 and a half stone, so total weight gain of 4 stone, which I never lost afterwards, hence having a BMI of 39 this time round at booking in, my BMI was under 30 prior to DS. The right amount of weight gain/loss is going to be individual for everybody, but if your midwife isn't weighing you then she mustn't have any concerns as I have to be weighed and have it recorded every appointment.
cmace and sunshine - DS has OH's surname. It was really important to OH that DS got his surname as there's only 2 of them left in his family with that name and if his sister gets married and changes her name then it would only be him. This also meant I got first choice of name for DS so it worked in my favour too! Another friend has given both her children her surname as she wanted to get married but her OH wouldn't so she said unless he married her then the children would have her name. Another friend double barrelled the kids names and then when she married her OH she double-barelled hers too. OH and I have discussed marriage, we've costed out what the cheapest it would cost to have a basic but traditional wedding with friends and family would be. Which equated to the same amount as between 5 to 10 years of holidays, so we unromantically decided we'd rather have are holidays than give them up to pay for a wedding!
The only thing to bear in mind if you're not married is that if you are wanting to give baby OH's surname and have him on the birth certificate, OH will have to come to register the birth with you to give permission as only the mum can register the birth if you're unmarried, whereas either of you can do it if you're married.
robots - hope you're enjoying your time away!
Apologies if I've missed anyone, I've been catching up on a few days worth of reading!
I'm another one that wakes up like clockwork at 3am for a wee then struggles to get back off to sleep. I also have leg cramps practically every night which doesn't help.0 -
Hey Aqua, glad to hear the metformin is working out for you
The free bag is with the Boots parenting club - good to sign up with a spam email though as they do mail quite a lot.

It's not surprising that you have issues arising from it, how you are treated and spoken to as a child shapes your whole life.
Your comment that you are not your mother is spot on. I grew up in an abusive household and me and my brother were treated very badly. It's like I'm a good parent now because I had bad parents, so I know what it feels like to be hit, belittled and generally treated like a nuisance and I never want my son to feel that way.
I think you can take the hurt from your childhood and use it to know that you can give your child the love that your mother didn't show you. Because you know what it is like to feel resented, you know how important it is to feel love and you can develop a mother and daughter relationship that you didn't have.
FWIW I think you'll be a wonderful mother x
Congratulations Deb! and welcome Derby2 xxx

Welcome newbies and congrats to the new mammies :)_ thank to everyone for the welcome!
6 days to go.... how did that happen?!?! I've not been on for a few days, you know how it is, those kitchen cupboards won't clean themselves - even managed a bit of gardening today!
Went to the midwife yesterday and I've always been 1cm or 2cm behind well now I'm right on target - baby has grown 3cm in 2 weeks... I haven't put a great deal of weight on and can still get into some of my size 8 clothes, just look like I have a beach ball up my top!
Still do not have any definite names picked out yet, starting to worry none will come to me:kisses3: Married 29th September 20120 -
Sorry all those in bold and in front of me! My waters went earlier on but no contractions so came in, was monitored, had a sweep and after another vigorous fiddle, Chloe Elizabeth entered this world at 23:57 weighing just over 7lb.
The vigerous fiddle I was 3cm. My established labour was 42 minutes so was extremely painful and fast but of course it was worth it.
Love to you all through the support through my miscarriage this time last year and I have loved spending my journey with you ladies (and a few men along the way)
I feel like I owe you all my sanity for replying to my messages and being so kind x
congratulations:kisses3: Married 29th September 20120 -
Hey Samtoby, I had this a couple of weeks ago. So much so that I changed my knickers 4 times in 1 day. In the end even went to get checked out by the hospital to make sure my waters weren't leaking. It is just another one of those lovely late pregnancy symptoms because baby is getting lower. It isn't just happening to you. I have had to start wearing maternity pads every so often because it is a lot easier to throw them away than keep changing my knickers lol. Especially as I am avoiding washing if I can :rotfl: x:kisses3: Married 29th September 20120

I'm having a lovely time away, thank you Scotsbride & Aqua.
It's actually been quite moneysaving as I went to a nearby retail outlet & found some great bargains... H&M over bump cargos for £7.00 not £25 due to no tie belt (turned out it had only got lost inside the waistband channel!) & a Next maternity quite formal dress also for £7.00, suitable for a fancy dinner out that's coming up
And in charity shops I got 10 yellow & white muslins for £6.00, several baby grows up to 1yr old for 50p each, an M&S sage green jumper the right size for winter for 50p & the cutest ever toddler jacket (quite pixie, in browns so unisex) for £4.00, but new it would have been crazy highPlease forgive the badly spelt alias... neverdespairgirl wrote: »I wouldn't panic about it skint - if your MW thought it important, she'd no doubt weigh you more. I've only been weighed twice and I'm now 38 weeks.
My weight gain isn't helpful to other people, because I've been so sick throughout, and even with anti-sickness meds, struggled to eat a balanced diet during pregnancy. I'm now 5lb heavier in total than I was at my booking-in appointment. Fortunately (in this context only....) I was fat enough to start with that it's not a disaster. I can't recommend the "lose body fat through throwing up for 9 months" diet, though, I think there are more pleasant ways!
I'm 26 wks and been weighed once apparently unless they know about an underline condition or if you rapidly increase or decrease in size they don't weigh you until late on in pregnancy the scans and the measuring of the bump gives them a good idea on how you are growing. as for weight gain on average (remember everyone is different and factors such as the amount of fluid how big your baby is your metabolisim etc) you can espect to gain anywhere from 10-13kg not all of this is baby!:kisses3: Married 29th September 20120
