skintchick I have no idea how much iv put on because I wasn't exactly sure how much I weighed before pregnancy and I don't have any scales at home! but I think about 3 stones - which is very scary! especially as I don't think iv eaten that badly! I just figure I want this baby so much I'll deal with the weight loss later :)

me and my oh aren't married or engaged and our baby will have his last name, I never even considered it really - but I did say to him I would like us all to have the same surname at some point. no hints or anything! ha. I know we would get married if we had the money.

Our baby will have OH's surname too, I just think it's the right thing to do (and we will get married at some point!) I know in hospital they'll give baby my surname so I'll use the giving baby his surname as a bartering tool for OH to let me have the first name I want :rotfl:

    welcome hwoolgar!

34 weeks today, I just want to get to that finishing line now!

Marywooyeah - You can do slimming world when pregnant but as soon as I was out of target I would have had to keep paying the £5 each week. I did keep on going for a while but when I started gaining the weight regardless of how well I stuck to plan I decided I needed to just stop and relax a little bit because it was getting me down. xx

Skintchick - Last time I checked (about a month ago) I had gained about 2 stone. For my own sanity I have decided to stop weighing myself, eat sensibly and for once in my life take my dieting head off. So I agree with NDG I wouldn't worry too much as long as you are being sensible. I am planning on making sure I am eating healthily when I breast feed and making sure that I go on plenty of walks around my local area, so hopefully some of what I have gained will drop off. xx

cmarc2 - I'm a primary teacher and have taught plenty of children that have parents that are not married. In my experience if a child has their dad's name there has never been any confusion. It is pretty common place for parents to decide not to get married so I wouldn't worry about it too much if you are happy with it being this way. At the end of the day you are the mum and your partner is the dad xx

hwoolgar - Welcome to the boards xx

Today we have had a pretty chilled out day. The most exciting activity being a wander to the corner shop to pick up a sun because I am collecting the Legoland tokens. This morning I was guttered to find that now I am nearing the 39 week mark I am getting stretch marks, despite carefully rubbing stretch mark cream in daily. Being the emotional wreck I currently am I did have a bit of a cry about it.

Also the skin on the top of my bump is a little bit sore and gets tingly. I have no idea why though. Does anyone else have this?
I was wondering whether this was more skin stretching.

Vicky that's understandable that you felt that way, and on the mse side you're saving at least £20 per month!

I stopped going to WW when I started gaining weight too as I resented paying the meeting fee when I knew I was fat for free lol!

skintchick I think 1lb a week is supposed to be the "normal" weight to gain.

well I'm off on another nightshift! see you lovely ladies tommorow, hope you've all got nice plans for the bank holiday tommorow! xxx

    Thanks for the welcome.

Skintchick chick I am feeling a bit more secure now in 3rd trimester and at 33 weeks have tons of movements all the time so feels more real.

I think the age gap will work well my daughter is very excited! How does you dd feel?

She was breech so c section and at 32 week growth scan this little one is head down so hospital encouraging natural birth but I sense he will go breech but shall wait and see.

I have been saving the 5 per week I would have spent on slimming world in a pot for a post baby treat. I could not bear to go each week putting on weight and first trimester was addicted toast! X

hwoolgar - my DD is super excited but insists it must be a girl called Fleur!!

My DD was breech till 37 weeks and iw as going to have a natural home birth, she turned in the end after I used tips from the Spinning Babies website.

But you don;t have to have a section for a breech baby - I think a page back we discussed this and posted some links.

I am thinking about getting a bigger handbag with more pockets to use as a changing bag. What is everyone else doing for a bag?

  • Wow over 4 pgs to catch up on... Husband & I are away staying with friends, though I've barely seen him!

I'm in bed recapping after finally getting my tablet to connect to the internet here. Husband is at the pub!

Sam Toby - your 11 shocked faces at me only just going over conception weight was so funny! I told everyone I'd felt nauseous & hungover for 3 months but no one took me seriously as I wasn't throwing up too much!

Aquamarine Monkey - Thankyou for sharing your birth storey. It has helped me see that things can still be ok even if they don't go the way you hope. I hope you are doing better on the metaformin now x

Righto, I'm going to catch up now xx

Sorry all those in bold and in front of me! My waters went earlier on but no contractions so came in, was monitored, had a sweep and after another vigorous fiddle, Chloe Elizabeth entered this world at 23:57 weighing just over 7lb.

The vigerous fiddle I was 3cm. My established labour was 42 minutes so was extremely painful and fast but of course it was worth it.

Love to you all through the support through my miscarriage this time last year and I have loved spending my journey with you ladies (and a few men along the way)

I feel like I owe you all my sanity for replying to my messages and being so kind x

 :T :T:j :j big congratulations SamToby! What a surprise! Lovely name, I hope u are both doing well x

  • Robots thats awful :( It's not surprising that you have issues arising from it, how you are treated and spoken to as a child shapes your whole life.

Your comment that you are not your mother is spot on. I grew up in an abusive household and me and my brother were treated very badly. It's like I'm a good parent now because I had bad parents, so I know what it feels like to be hit, belittled and generally treated like a nuisance and I never want my son to feel that way.

I think you can take the hurt from your childhood and use it to know that you can give your child the love that your mother didn't show you. Because you know what it is like to feel resented, you know how important it is to feel love and you can develop a mother and daughter relationship that you didn't have.

    FWIW I think you'll be a wonderful mother x

Congratulations Deb! and welcome Derby2 xxx

Thankyou Mary. That made me cry a bit. I'm so sorry you were treated like that, but yes it probably has made you aware & the good mum you are. I was never hit (well, only when naughty), but even today issues of me being a nuisance / ' in the way' came up. She still regularly tries to belittle me, & has tried to split me & OH up, plus despite 2 degrees & a career, a house & husband, I'm a "huge disappointment to her". She didn't have a career & barely managed to hold her family together (dad left for over a decade)... So yes, despite my depression, I Am Very different to her & will not fall into her shoes.

That's a lovely way to put it, that I know what it is to feel unloved, so can actively protect my child from ever feeling that. *hugs*

    Congratulations SamToby! Lovely news :D

Robots - you can birth a breech baby naturally, if you want to, though teh NHs is not always so keen. CHeck this link for some resrouces http://spinningbabies.com/baby-positions/breech-bottoms-up/339-vaginal-breech-birth?showall=1 but if you google vaginal breech you will get lots come up. It's YOUR choice, remember, they can only advise/recommend and they don;t always have your best interests at heart, sadly, but their own convenience. My DD was breech till 37 weeks so they can turn, but I did lots of research and was prepared to do it vaginally at home if she didn't.

    That's really interesting, I didn't know that.

Re your other comment re Waters going & bacterial infection risk, I'm guessing that 1/100 risk is for the population as a whole?
Personally I'd be happy to accept that risk if I knew I was Not carrier of group B Strep (GBS for the lady that asked), as that does increase the risk of infection. 1/4 women carry the bacteria, but there is No routine testing the England, & even if u test your results can change by the time u deliver.... Gah! It's so tricky!

I had thought about using a bag I already have, but then thought water resistant lining would be better against spills.

I've seen one with a giraffe on on eBay, might get that.

Plus that's to the lady who posted the Boots Bag Glitch, as I thought about getting it but am on keen on Pampers ethical / environmental stance, so free is ok by me!

Thanks also to Mrs Muffin & all the other posters.

And to SamToby for being a most excellent list organiser.
    - do we have a new one? If not I could try, but it don't think I'd be as prompt & organised as Sam!
