I found I lost weight gradually when BF-ing, and I was eating everything in sight. If it wasn't nailed down, I scoffed it.
See for me it was the opposite - I lost my baby weight quickly with Dylan, but seeing as I was a size 20 at the time it wasn't really an achievement lol!
I went down to a 12 before I started uni, then over four years at uni i put the three stone I'd lost back on. Before I got pregnant I'd lost exactly half of it, and I've put nearly a stone back on in this pregnancy (which at 38 weeks gone I don't think is too bad!)
I'm planning to start trying to lose weight again pretty much straightaway through eating lots of 0 point foods (tomatoes, sweet potatoes, butternut squash etc) and eating loads of vegetable based dishes.
As I'll be on maternity leave after my exams finish I'm planning to drop Dylan at school and take baby out in her buggy for walks - she'll get lots of fresh air and I'll get lots of exercise - win win!
FF I've heard really good things about slimming world, I thought you could still go when you're pregnant? x0 -
No need to let the hospital know about a show Jen - I had mine almost 3 weeks ago now and a bit more this morning and I just mentioned it to my midwife at the next appointment. You only need to let them know if your waters break as there's a risk of infection after that.
NO more queue jumpers please!!! I'm next - I need this baby out now! (Congrats though Samtoby)
SK x
Not a big risk though. They put you on the clock once you tell them - 24 hours then intervention if you've not started naturally. I lied about when my waters broke with DD - gave myself an extra five hours.
This link http://www.ouh.nhs.uk/patient-guide/leaflets/files%5C091126watersbreak.pdf says that once your waters break there is "a small risk (1/100) of your baby contracting a serious bacterial infection."
That's not a huge risk, so if you know your hospital will put you on the clock and pressure you to have intervention after 24 hours, you can always give them a different time to buy some extra hours (which in all likelihood you won;t need anyway).
Informed choice, ladies

Oh also I meant to say I bought some big hatboxes to be the memory boxes for the children and as I was packing them I found Dylan's old Hipp baby club calender. It comes with loads of milestone stickers to track baby's progress and key events, it was lovely to look back on
I've signed up again to get another one for this baby - the link is here if anyone wants to sign up too:

While we're talking about weight - how much has everyone put on? I've put on 21 lbs and I'm 27 weeks. Is that normal? Too much? I can;t remember/am not sure if I even knew what I put on with DD. My MW doesn't weigh me so presumably isn;t too bothered, but I weighed myself the other day and wondered what's normal. Google wasn;t much help to be honest. DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

I wouldn't panic about it skint - if your MW thought it important, she'd no doubt weigh you more. I've only been weighed twice and I'm now 38 weeks.
My weight gain isn't helpful to other people, because I've been so sick throughout, and even with anti-sickness meds, struggled to eat a balanced diet during pregnancy. I'm now 5lb heavier in total than I was at my booking-in appointment. Fortunately (in this context only....) I was fat enough to start with that it's not a disaster. I can't recommend the "lose body fat through throwing up for 9 months" diet, though, I think there are more pleasant ways!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
To those who aren't married to your OH's, what are you doing about your baby's surname? I am quite happy for my baby boy to have my OH's surname as my OH is an only child and I see this as carrying on his family name. I don't know if I would feel differently if it was a girl. However, my family think why should I let this happen and my mum said it can cause confusion and problems later on with school etc if me and my child don't share the same surname. I don't think I'll change my mind but was just wondering what everyone's thoughts were?0

OH and I haven't got round to getting married either - engaged, yes. Married, no.
Our 8 year old has his surname, baby will have the same. Doesn't bother me at all - in my line of work I'd have to keep my name anyway despite marriage, so it makes no difference.
Expect to get called "Mrs X" a fair bit, and when you turn up somewhere with a baby or child and you've booked the restaurant / B & B, OH will get called "Mr. your name". Doesn't bother either of us, we generally let it roll over us....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Hi all, :j:j:j
I am due 19th June 2014 with a baby boy. I joined the under 12 weeks board briefly but never posted much as I think after a missed miscarriage earlier this year I was scared of tempting fate!
I have a lovely little girl who is 5 on Thursday this week. We had her party today and I cannot believe how quick last 5 years have gone.
I was doing slimming world before baby but although you can go while pregnant I have craved carbs and eaten lots so did not keep going!
I feel more like I will benefit from a pregnancy board so going to start reading, replying and posting as I count down to baby being born.
Love, h x0 -
Hello and welcome hwoolgar! We have a very similar age gap between our children - my baby is due end of July and my DD will be five on July 22. I've had a number of miscarriages so I know how you feel - do you feel a bit more secure now? I feel better now i'm in the third tri. :j
