My mum had an emergency c section for me at 33 weeks... She didn't see me for 3 days & couldn't feed me. She has said frequently throughout my life that I nearly killed her, & it's why we don't get on, why I am daddy's girl. I guess I have issues stemming from that.

But things Are different now, and I'm not my mother.

Robots thats awful :( It's not surprising that you have issues arising from it, how you are treated and spoken to as a child shapes your whole life.

Your comment that you are not your mother is spot on. I grew up in an abusive household and me and my brother were treated very badly. It's like I'm a good parent now because I had bad parents, so I know what it feels like to be hit, belittled and generally treated like a nuisance and I never want my son to feel that way.

I think you can take the hurt from your childhood and use it to know that you can give your child the love that your mother didn't show you. Because you know what it is like to feel resented, you know how important it is to feel love and you can develop a mother and daughter relationship that you didn't have.

    FWIW I think you'll be a wonderful mother x

Congratulations Deb! and welcome Derby2 xxx

Thanks everyone for your support over my wobbling. I am feeling ok today. Midwife was sick yesterday so ended up having to go to the Hospital for my appointment. Bump still measuring big but as I have had a scan no concerns. Been a bit 'damp' but think this is my failing bladder - please tell me this isn't just me its happening to.

Definitely not just you! I don't feel clean/dry 'down there' at all, no matter what I do! Glad you are feeling better today, we all have wobbles and yours was justified more than many xx

My pelvis has improved slightly today, perhaps coinciding with the fact that on my daily 'bump observation' it seems noticably bigger and rounder!

Hope you had a good last day Mrs Happy... 8 shifts/13 days left for me!

Marywoohyeah... that is BRAVE! I can see me being too scared to leave the house by 38 weeks incase my waters break in public, it's a genuine fear!!

Congratulations Debs0778! Hope you're both OK. And welcome all the newbies!

Welcome Scot! Hope you are well and cheerful, and we're all really nice here (-:

Congratulations, Debs! Have you decided on a name, yet?
well I just booked tickets to see Prince on 15 May so I better not be first lol!

I know what you mean about working NDG - I like working too especially as I've had to get so many qualifications to get where I am, but still have a long way to go! we don't get any benefits or anything so I need to work too!

    Wow, at 40 + 1? That's brave lol.

We don't get any benefits either, just me not earning while I'm not working (apart from the £100 a week maternity allowance, must try not to spend it all at once....). Do you get child benefit, though?

    Hi All

Welcome newbies and congrats to the new mammies :)

6 days to go.... how did that happen?!?! I've not been on for a few days, you know how it is, those kitchen cupboards won't clean themselves - even managed a bit of gardening today!

Went to the midwife yesterday and I've always been 1cm or 2cm behind well now I'm right on target - baby has grown 3cm in 2 weeks... I haven't put a great deal of weight on and can still get into some of my size 8 clothes, just look like I have a beach ball up my top!

Still do not have any definite names picked out yet, starting to worry none will come to me

sunshine and ndg - I got ticket protection so you get a refund if you can't go, minus the cost of the insurance obviously! I thought it made sense as this way if we can't go we get the money back, and sods law says if we didn't buy the tickets I'd still be pregnant on the night and we'd regret not going lol!

ndg yes I do get child benefit, no tax credits or anything, but I put half of it straight into Dylan's trust fund, he's got more money that me and his dad put together lol! :rotfl:

We booked Pearl Jam tickets 11/7 with an edd 5/7, that has now changed to 30/6 so hoping all ok and can go, although is only 10mins from home/hospital.
Mary we do same with DS child benefit and all being well will carry on for this one.
    Welcome newbies

There's going to be quite enough fiddling going on down there soon enough for us all without adding waxing, I'd have thought!

One of the advantages of being fair-haired - less hair, shows less, and finer. So I'm not worrying about it (-: I've never needed to shave my legs or anything either, I have white, very fine, entirely invisible leg and arm hair and leave it well alone.
