  • Think one to one midwives based in North West only but worth a google to see.
  • Congratulations on the recent births, and good luck to the ladies due anytime now!

Hope everything goes well for those of you with exams coming up!

NDG - sorry you've not been too well, hope the infections clear up soon.

firey - I have a named midwife but I haven't actually seen her yet, I spoke to her once when she rang me to tell me she had to re-arrange an appointment as she couldn't make it. I've seen a different midwife each time even though it's only the one that supposed to be based at our practice. Have an appointment coming up on Weds so will be interesting to see who I get this time. I think if there was anything I needed to know urgently I'd just ring maternity triage.

I'm 27 weeks now, and my bump has ballooned over the last few weeks, it's all bump though, you still can't tell I'm pregnant from behind, unless I'm walking as apparently according to my colleagues I waddle now! I've got 7 weeks left at work. I'm really struggling with doing 5 days now (especially with a commute that takes up to 2 hours each way) but luckily with the bank holidays coming up and still having a bit of annual leave to take I've managed to make it so that I have some 4 day weeks. Work have said I can consider reducing my hours if I need to, so I might speak to them about that next week, as at the time I was OK with full days.

I suppose I better start thinking about buying some things for the baby, as I haven't even started yet! We still have things left over from DS like a cot, pram (although I think OH wants us to get a new pram), and if she was to come early we do have a carseat but I don't like the way ot fits the car so want to get a new one. I keep thinking oh there's ages yet, but I suppose I should start to get organised soon as the weeks just seem to be flying by.

I've got my GTT on Monday, I'm hoping I pass it as I don't think I could cope without chocolate/sugar! Also, I know for a fact I can't inject myself, as after my c-section I had to inject klexane for a week and despite thinking I could and trying I just couldn't do it to myself.
  • Just delurking to say I am with one2one and they are fantastic. I transferred care at about 23 weeks as I had never been seen by the same person twice previously. Now the same midwife visits me for appointments in my flat and I could choose to have her deliver my baby at home in a portable pool! I always think it is the nearest thing to Call the Midwife you can get. :)

aw thanks that's really interesting! I was having a look yesterday to see whether I could transfer but I got the impression they like to be with you from the start! I think it's too late now but it's something to think about for my next pregnancy. I'm in the north west so that's how iv heard about it :) I don't really get how it's free really!

You can self refer online and I got the impression it was never too late to transfer. Might be worth a go?

It is a fantastic service, I hope it goes to the rest of the country so everyone can have a choice. :)

I have been to my first (out of 2) all day antenatal class today. We decided to go with the NCT in the end (purely based on the timings of the classes in our area) and I must say it was fantastic. Really enjoyable and informative. There was a good mixture of discussion and group work. Plus it had helped me to feel much more confident about post birth. As predicted we were the youngest (27) but also the furthest along in the pregnancy (35+4). Once in class though it really didn't make a difference and everyone was really lovely.

Next pregnancy? ! Let's not go crazy FF get this one out first pmsl!

Vicky I'm 27 too, weird that we have another thing in common!

I went to the midwifes today and they couldn't find any trace of my appointment but saw me anyway, although the midwife said "what do you need an appt for?" and I had to say "I don't know, the last midwife just told me to come today!"

Everything's all ok but the midwife was very pro homebirth, its made me rethink it but I really want a waterbirth so I think I'll probably just see what happens.

Ndg hope everything goes well for your hubby tommorow, how brave to do a marathon then catch a plane the sane night!

claire16c - if your lurking how is your recovery after the c section.

    It's not too bad thanks.

The first week was really hard you can't do much at all the first few days but it's 3 weeks today and I'm walking about ok just slower than normal and a bit achy if I go too far.

I've been told no hoovering or lifting stuff heavier than the baby for 4-6 weeks so DH is my slave ;)

That's bad some of you never see the same midwife I saw the same one each appt at my gps surgery. I also had my day 10 appt with the baby with her she got to meet Grace which was lovely.

I thought that too - wait until this one's born before you get too far ahead planning the next one lol.

I am not 27 - both my bump-triplet-mates are, but I was 36 last week. I was 27 when Isaac was born, though!

I assume "sane" in your last sentence was a Freudian slip..... he reckons no-one will ever have had a better night's sleep on a plane! Isaac's been advised about what the Wise Boy would do in such circumstances - ie, let his Abba sleep.

Few, time to leave the studying for another day, once I get going I can manage but getting going is the hard bit! I have managed to write just over 700 words today - just getting my references all in! I will continue tomorrow.

I am having some really weird feelings downstairs. its like she is bouncing on the waters, I yelped earlier when I thought they had popped! I am getting really nervous now; but I don't know why I have weeks yet!

Glad your doing ok claire16c. I have to say I have seen two midwives one for my first appointment but after that the same one. I think I have been lucky by the sounds of it.

VickyVics - glad you had a good time at your glass. I am 29, 27 feels like ages ago but I know it wasn't lol.

I am off to bed - I will do the list before I go...!
