Well I am liking this maternity leave routine. I have dropped off DS for his day out today, been to the bank, dropped some bits with my best friend in town, put yesterdays clean washing away, put a load on and I am sat waiting for my final tutorial for Uni.

What a productive day so far - means I can study all day apart from putting the washing out to dry :)

I have got a sore back so have a hot water bottle on that; but aside from that I am feeling positive about today and getting a good lot of studying done. And here, the sun is shining.

Only bad thing about today was when I made the bed I found the biggest tick you can ever imagine on OH's side of the bed! It was huge so had obviously had a good feeding off one of us last night!:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Our house is in a rural location and ticks, rats, mice and what ever else you can imagine is totally normal.....just not in our BED!!!!!!!!

It's weird. What do people do all morning when they aren't supervising breakfast scrums, making sure swimming kit's ready and getting packed lunches sorted?

I had an extra, quiet cup of tea, read the BBC news website, it was lovely.

<shudder> wouldn't fancy ticks, myself. Ewwww!

We live bang in the centre of London - and rats and mice aren't far away here, either! My parents live in the middle of nowhere in rural Kent, and they also get shrews, rabbits, field mice and all sorts, and sometimes wild deer at the edge of the woods at dusk (but they are very, very shy indeed).

We live in a town centre so don't encounter too many ticks and things but my parents live on a narrow boat so are often found in the middle of no-where. I have lost count of the number of ticks the dog has managed to get. The problem is he is small and one of his favourite things is to run in very long grass...grrrrr! I think if I had found one in my bed I may have run away :rotfl:! Then promptly decided to wash all the bedding 'just in case'. I'm not quite sure what the 'just in case' is but I would have to wash the bedding in my irrational panicky moment I think lol :rotfl:

I have had a bit of a slow morning so far. Woke up at 8.30am and had breakfast. Then by 9.30 I was feeling so tired that I had to go back to bed again until 11.15. I feel so lazy but I just couldn't keep my eyes open. Then had a bath and put a load of washing on and now I am contemplating what to have for lunch. For some reason this seems to be such a hard decision to make :D. The plan for this afternoon is to go into the conservatory and start to sort out the stuff in it so we can claim it back as an extra sitting area. Since Christmas is has become a dumping ground for all of the things we don't know what to do with. I plan on being ruthless and armed with a bin liner will be sorting things out into chuck, recycle/charity/sell and keep.
  • Vicky, you should totally make use of the opportunity to have a nap if you feel like it - only too soon, you won't necessarily be able to!

Arm yourself with 2 bin bags, to be on the safe side. Ruthlessness is good for de-cluttering - I have ambitions in that line myself, for the tiny cupboard I call my study but is actually a dumping ground at the moment.

Don't think I will get over the tick thing for a while arrrgghhh.

Had my tutorial so getting on with studying now. I second if you need a nap just have one because soon the window of oppertunity for naps will be limited. It will be dictated.

I have nearly eaten a whole pack of Bourbons. Oh dear. No wonder I have gained 3 stone!
