Sorry to delurk AGAIN but...this has horrified me....do you mean, he feels it moving on the outside with his hand or something or....from the inside with his thing?! If it is the latter then my husband definitely won't like that either... Eek! That has really scared me! :o I am only 15 weeks and have not felt movement yet but the idea of him feeling it during sex feels really weird for some reason...:o

My DH wouldn't do it either as he thought it was too weird incase she were to start kicking or moving about whilst we were doing it and I agreed it would have freaked me outa bit too.

I started feeling flutters at 17 weeks and proper movement at 19/20.

Feel fine about the redundancy - just waiting for the payment! (Im on paid leave at the moment...)
I think another girl (which is absolutely fine!) Though midwife last week - said she couldn't decide what I was having..I have had a pretty similar pregnancy until 30 weeks. My eldest is 7 and looking forward to a bit of nappy changing! Bless - 10 years is a long time for him to have you on his own.

NDG - sounds like you are having a horrible time healthwise - hope you recover soon x

DTD - whats that?? Ha ha. Absolutely no energy or inclination for that. Havent in previous pregnancies either - we will wait until baby is a couple of months... poor dh! x

sophiasmum - glad you feel ok about it - and I feel exactly the same about DTD. LOL. But I think my OH just wants to get an 'idea' of how long after baby we will. I have told him I have no idea!

claire16c - if your lurking how is your recovery after the c section.

neverdespairgirl- your post just made me giddy reading it! How long until you go on maternity leave? I do hope you start to feel better soon you really are having it all!

marywooyeah - Good for me there are no exams its all essays etc. This module is a work based project which has a portfolio and the other module is two long essays. I am waiting for feedback from two other students for the project piece which I thought I would have by now. Wrong assumption.... and I can't write the final 1,000 evaluation without these. So I will send a reminder at the weekend.

    Morning Everyone

It's my last day at work.....how did that happen! I've come in this morning and my desk is all decorated etc, really sweet. We're off out for lunch later too - really didnt expect any fuss so I'm very touched.

Still doesnt feel like any of this is actually happening though, the idea I'm finishing today until February and my due date is less than a week way is totally surreal!

Good luck to all the boldies on the list, get a move on :-)

Oh certainly isn't put off by pregnancy, but with cystitis and an eye infection I'm totally not in the mood. The marathon's absorbing quite a lot of his energy, though!

I'm not seriously ill, just a bit cross, and visited the GP today to get an eviction order for the various bugs, as in, a mega dose of penicillin.

Very best of luck with your essays, hope all goes well.

Next week I'm only in court once, and the week after, twice. Other than that, just paperwork, grounds of appeal, skeleton arguments, that sort of thing, that I can do at home.

  • how does everybody feel about the midwife care they have received so far? I guess it varies from area to area but I feel a bit disheartened with mine! has anybody seen the same midwife all the way through? I've seen a different one each time. I posted last week how when I wanted a little bit of advice about the chickenpox thing I ended up making around 17 phone calls and still nobody got back to me...

well today i had to take some MRSA swabs into the centre where I see the midwife. I'm having to do them for 3 weeks in a row and last time I saw the midwife she said instead of making an appointment for each one she gave me the swab kits to do at home. and told me to knock on the door of the midwife room to hand them in every Friday and not give them into reception. I went in today to drop them off. the door was opened by a midwife iv never seen before and she was quite frankly horrible!

she didn't have a clue what to do with them, she questioned me repeatedly over who had told me to drop them off there, she was really reluctant to take them off me and basically I just felt stupid especially as she had a lady in with her at the time witnessing everything. she was really stern I felt like a little kid standing at the head teachers door! there's obviously no communication between anybody :(

my friend has just found out she's pregnant and is hoping to be seen by one to one midwives has anybody heard of it? it sounds amazing and I wish id found out about it sooner! x

I've not seen the same midwife twice, yet, either. I wasn't expecting to, because I saw a platoon of different ones when I was pregnant with Isaac as well.

But I do have a contact midwife (one I've never actually met!) who responds to emails, has a 24 mobile number she shares with a team, and co-ordinates ante-natal care. Which makes a real difference, I think.

Hope you get a result soon on the swabs.

Ff she sounds awful! I think you're supposed to see the same midwife all the way through, maybe that's what your friend means by one to one?

Ive just read that there's geen a death of a baby at the maternity unit I'm booked in due to ":catastrophic human error". Doesn't exactly make me feel comfortable going there now but there isn't really any alternative :(

Good luck with the coursework Samtoby and Marywooyeah. And the exams too, Mary :) I am sure you both will do really well. I've got some corrections to do, but less than I was expecting which is cool. I'm just waiting for the list to come through. Aside from that I'm still working on the little paid research contract plus some voluntary bits on the side, so it's all do-able. Also working on ways to add to my £2014 in 2014 challenge, but am a bit stuck!

Glad you've got a nicer work week coming up NDG - hope the anti-bs kick in and you're feeling better very soon.

Firey sorry to hear your rubbish experiences with the midwife. I hate that feeling of being made to feel stupid even though you were only carrying out someone else's instructions. You should definitely let the community midwives know you had a bad experience.

I've only seen the same midwife twice and also been given loads of conflicting info. If we have any questions we have to contact the hospital directly which I find a bit intimidating tbh. I'm happy not to have had any complications, I'd hope the care gets better if you really needed it.

Just delurking to say I am with one2one and they are fantastic. I transferred care at about 23 weeks as I had never been seen by the same person twice previously. Now the same midwife visits me for appointments in my flat and I could choose to have her deliver my baby at home in a portable pool! I always think it is the nearest thing to Call the Midwife you can get. :)
