Hi ladies, a quick update for you...
Erika Robin was born on Thursday 20th March at 8.54am weighing 7lb 9ozs. We are still in hospital as feeding isn't going well (she doesn't get that from either her mum or dad!) but other than that we are well and hope to come home soon.
Samtoby, can you finally add me to the birth list!!!
I'll get round to adding my birth story on the other thread... It was lengthy and not very pleasant but my little bundle more than makes up for it!!0 -
Saturday...well everyday is like a Saturday at the minute, and not in the good way!
Think I may bake a cake then do even more bouncing, hoping baby just decides to move back in to the right position and then make her entrance in the next few days.
I was wondering overnight though if she is waiting to do everything all at once because of her length - we've always been told she has loooooong legs (now evident by her back being towards my left and her feet sticking out of my right side 80% of the time) so I wondered if she just doesn't 'fit' the way the midwives expect her to be.
Nit much else I can do to entertain myself now until baby appears other than keep the house straight. Mil is off next week, and bf as usual on Tuesday, so they are going to keep me busy - mil will be taking me out and about on errands with her each morning then its bf's turn to entertain me and keep me busy in the afternoons/they can team up haha. Really hoping a weekend of walking round shops/generally distracting myself works...gosh I hate to think how I'll be if I go overdue!
Right off to find a decent chocolate cake recipe!************************************

congratulations squirrel!
hopefully you'll both be home soon.
feeling frustrated this morning iv spent ages looking for a maternity swimsuit/tankini for under £20 but I can't! I don't want to spend more because I might only wear it a couple of times. going away for a couple of days for my birthday next week and I wanted to use the pool at the hotel!
hmm thinking about it maybe I should buy a tankini instead of a swimsuit so that if I go in the birthing pool I can wear the top then? do you wear clothes in the birthing pool? I don't know!0 -
ps a bit of a cheeky post but if anybody sees the perfect prep machine around at a decent price could they post it on here please?
it seems to be £75 everywhere but I think iv seen it at around £50 sometimes, on offer.

You can wear what you like in the birth pool, although obviously you will need a clear exit for the baby
They have to check on progress too (they use a mirror on a stick!) so probably floaty stuff that gets in the way of that would be a bad plan.
I've had two waterbirths and didn't bother wearing anything either time although I'd taken tops the first time. The only rule I was told is that if you want your other half in the pool with you he has to wear trunks:heartpuls Daughter born January 2012 :heartpuls Son born February 2014 :heartpuls

Congratulations squirrel!!!! such a lovely name for baby squirrel!
Sorry to hear her birth wasn't as hoped but I'm glad all was ok in the end. I'm sure she'll get the back of feeding soon xxxPlease forgive the badly spelt alias... I am a long time contributor who needed to reclaim anonymity for health/job related posts.0 -
Thanks again NeverDespaireGirl, for putting my mind at rest, I had the best nights sleep I've had in weeks last night! I actually slept through for 6 hours at one point! It's good as we've got guests tonight so I need to clear up, up away the bits I bought at peterborough antiques fair yesterday, and remind husband to do a little DIY. Today will be a good dayPlease forgive the badly spelt alias... I am a long time contributor who needed to reclaim anonymity for health/job related posts.0

You should always check with your midwife at your next appointment - that's what she's for, after all!
The only time I've been weighed in antenatal appts was at booking in, but I did mention it to my midwife on Thursday, and she was supremely unbothered. She did say had I been underweight at booking in she'd have been more concerned, but her main issue was the nutritional quality of what I'm eating (given my sickness) rather than the calories, if that makes sense?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Oh yes, I'll definitely mention it on tues at my next app... I was suffering midnight-brain-stuck-on-repeat-worry.
Yesterday at the antiques fair was the first time I used being pregnant to my benefit: I asked a trader to lift a box of tools from the floor onto his table as I couldn't squat & reach over that far at the same time, I asked someone to scoot up on a bench so I could sit for a bit, and when I asked for a glass of tap water at the show ground bar, he started to question, so I said cheekily "please I'm 6mths pg and feel a bit wobbly" (all true), he smiled said of course and even asked if I'd like ice & lemonoh & he had a delicious Russian accent
By the end if the day I was wearing my bump band over my shirt to stop the wind exposing my back, while rubbing my bump, holding and a glass of lemon & water... Several people said with a smile "you shouldn't be drinking gin in your condition!"Please forgive the badly spelt alias... Hi ladies, the time has come for me to join this thread properly as I'm now 24+1
I'm shared care between midwives and consultants due to being high risk due to complications in first pregnancy resulting in an emergency c-section and DS having to be resuscitated once he was born. Also I have a high BMI so I'm high risk for that reason too.
Consultant appointments have gone well so far and don't need to go back now until 36 weeks where I'll have a growth/presentation scan and a follow up consultant appointment. I might even be allowed a waterbirth so long as there's no complications late on in pregnancy and I keep my BMI under 40 (it was 39 at booking in and had dropped to 36.2 as I've lost half a stone).
Next midwife appointment will be around 28 weeks and so far this pregnancy seems to be a lot smoother than my previous one.
Robots - sorry to hear about your dog, hope the vets are able to help her. I've lost weight this pregnancy and the consultants are actually pleased about it, but that was because I had a high BMI, so it all depends on what your BMI was to start. If it wasn't too low to start with then I'm sure it will be nothing to worry about. I've been told I'm allowed to continue to lose weight so long as I eat sensibly and don't diet.0
