Is renewing a passport ok or likely to raise questions?

Ah, but if you don't like the rules you just ignore them? Two wrongs certainly don't make a right do they?
I shall remember what your attitude is to DWP rules for the future!
Really. Like I care what you think or remember.
At the end of the day the answer is no the DWP don't care if you have a passport. They only care if you go on holiday abroad. Simple answer is tell them and I expect they will say ohh have a great time. But doubtless you know someone who lost all their benefits and motability car because they went on holiday.
The other option is to take your vacation in good old Blighty. The DWP don't need to know that do they.
Anyway I am fed up feeding you on this forum.0 -
No, I already gave my opinion on what could happen and why if you applied for a passport.
I then replied to a question about having to notify the DWP when going on holiday with that passport which most on here disputed that you were obliged by the DWP to do.
Seems that it is best all round that you drop the DWP an email telling them that you are applying for a new passport with intention of going on holiday abroad.
That way you are covering yourself?
Not if you just want a passport as ID as was the question here and you have no holiday plans.0 -
No, you are required by DWP rules to tell them about ANY holiday of ANY length.
No, you are not.
You are only required to inform them if you are going abroad for more than 4 weeks.
Please stop making things up as you go along.
You have misunderstood the link you posted previously.0 -

This is what amuses me about Tinkles ridiculous claims.
Somehow, a holiday abroad must be discussed with them before you go, yet a holiday in our own country is fine.
There is far less hassle or effort for someone popping to the cruise terminal and enjoying a cruise than there is for someone to jump on a train for 6 hours to travel across country to somewhere worth visiting that year.
Why would the DWP care where a disabled person has a couple of weeks de-stress? lol0 -
Oh for heaven's sake. You'd think we were living under the Stasi. I can't believe that the DWP has got any interest at all in whether a person on disability benefits manages to go on holiday, or where they go to.
It's bad enough having to be mindful of one's mode of travel without having to look over one's shoulder to see if 'they' are watching. We live within half a mile of a newly-developed airport with holiday destinations. We could walk to it - if we could walk. Therefore, we choose to drive to most of the places we go to. We've driven down the Rhine valley from Rotterdam to Bodensee. We've driven all around the western Highlands and some of the Western Isles. We might drive to Switzerland next summer. So what?Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

The rules over going on holiday, I've never fully understood. All I understand is the DLA one and going abroad for medical treatment.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

Strictly speaking twinkletoes is right  (which is why he's playing it!!! and everyone is taking the bait he's probably larfing his socks off) BUT the DWP are not interested in REALITY about anyone going abroad for less than 4 weeks.
The 4 weeks is significant because it is the same rules as going into hospital.
It also applies to carers if they don't care for 4 weeks.
It applies to respite care as well.
So pretty standard across all the benefits.
But the REALITY is that if everyone phoned every single time one of these occasions came up under 4 weeks the system would probably grind to a halt.
So nothing to worry about.

Ah so you are now accepting that I have been right all along? An apology would be nice considering the abuse that you sent my way and telling me that I knew naff all?0 -

Have I, but what about the POI request that I quoted in an earlier post. To save you the trouble of finding it I will re-quote the important bits for you.
Question
If a claimant is in the support group of ESA income related and was wanting to go on a holiday abroad for up to 4 weeks would the claimant have to make the DWP aware of this?
Also would this affect the claimants claim in any way??
Answer
Anyone in receipt of Employment and Support Allowance must report any relevant change in their circumstances to DWP. This includes going on holiday abroad.
That seems pretty clear to me that all holidays abroad of ANY length HAVE to be reported to the DWP before you go.0
