Is renewing a passport ok or likely to raise questions?

National ID cards don't seem to be a problem in all the other countries in Europe, they find our attitude to it most strange.
The cost is minimal though and that was always by objection to the ID system the price they wanted everyone to pay.
They can travel within EU without a passport, so it saves having to have one.Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy - Anne Frank :A0 -

That's a fantastic idea. We can do away with passports and lely on an ID card.
The sooner the better when these cards are issued. At least that way people can be monitored more easily as are their cars and mobile phones now.0 -
Who said 'must'? I didn't.I have quoted exactly what the DWP's stance is which is quite clear. You can continue to claim and receive ESA for up to 4 weeks whilst on holiday. BUT you must talk to your local JC before you go.
.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

I suppose so, but I wouldn't be keen on getting one!
I don't trust governments with any new systems of record holding, and those cards were going to hold an awful lot of info.
I would sooner just renew my passport.
LinYou can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.0 -
But they hold the same records on the passport as they would on an ID card
It doesn't bother me, I'd rather make it easier for the police to deal with and track down criminals.
It certainly doesn't bother all the Europeans I know having to carry an ID card.Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy - Anne Frank :A0 -

I'm I worrying about nothing?
Yes you are worrying about nothing. I just renewed mine last month with no problems!0 -
Where does any of the guidance you have supplied say MUST
It's time this trolls latest AE was banned I think.
Why would you report someone for voicing their opinion? Just because you don't agree with their advice it doesn't mean its wrong, especially when they aren't being abusive to you, the OP or to anyone else.0 -
The passport office, as far as I know, don't inform the DWP, nor do the airlines, ship lines or anybody else.
The only issue I ever have with going abroad is the travel insurance - the sky is the limit on that, if you have a disability!
But, in the main, I use my passport for ID, as everywhere accepts that.
Lin
A passport is also one of the few identity documents nearly everyone has. I use my DL, but I appreciate that many don't have one.

Yeah, well I don't drive, so a passport is the only thing that everyone accepts, so I just renew it every time and use that.
Problem solved!

Just re-read what the guidance says about ANY holiday abroad for ANY length of time whilst receiving ESA - Talk to your local Jobcentre Plus before you go.
I can't make it any simpler for you. If you want to tell me that this is not true, then post the guidance that you are relying on.
Even other posters who have checked it out for the purposes of this thread agree with me that what I have quoted is correct.
I don't want your drivel that says 'because they told me so', show me! Come on Andy, you're the king of trolling and upsetting people, show me the legislation. You're forever trumpeting rules, here's your chance. Tell me where in those rules that I should inform the DWP as somebody in the ESA support group that I should be telling them of my departure for 14 days? I doubt there's any such rules in the WRAG group either.
I stand to be corrected, please do inform me. I'm pretty much housebound, maybe I should make an itinerary for popping to the supermarket or pub (
if I were so lucky to get out) just to be safe from retribution from the DWP? You really do have too much time on your hands.0
