Is renewing a passport ok or likely to raise questions?

Well, as ever, I have been abroad, with help from airports etc., and never had a single problem with the DWP...
Plus, as I no longer can drive, I use it for ID.
Most disabled people can leave their house, at times, providing they have someone with them, and, if holidaying, have arranged appropriate assistance from airlines etc.,

That is as maybe, but if the DWP did find out AND it gave rise to doubts as to the validity of your benefit claims - what would you do then?
As an acquaintance once did, he started to get some lessons for a jet ski in the UK before going on holiday abroad, someone videoed him and sent a copy to the DWP - the fall out over that was quite amusing considering that he had claimed for a damaged back and couldn't walk 50 metres!!!.0 -

Anyone claiming DLA and who is in the support group is "allowed" to go on holiday
Holidays are considered beneficial and can improve health and noone claiming these benefits would have them taken away if the receipient decides to go abroad once a year.
You post is irresponsible. Your words could worry someone to the extent of cancelling a much needed respite, to which they are entitled, even if part of their award comes from a claim of not being able to leave the house.
I'll let the OP consider what is best then. If you are on ESA you DO have to notify the DWP when going on holiday.
Don't say that I haven't warned them!0 -

I don't know if you are honestly this daft, but learning to ride a bloody jet ski is a bit different to getting on a plane....:wall:
Jesus - why don't you stop feeding people all this incorrect info and drivel?
You do not have to notify the DWP if you are going on a short holiday, and receive ESA or DLA - that only applies if you have to attend the JCP to sign on.
Lin :whistle:You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.0 -

Eerrrr taken from the Gov website:
Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
There are 2 types of ESA - income-related or contribution-based.
You can get both of these for 4 weeks if you go abroad.
Talk to your local Jobcentre Plus before you go.0 -
I presume the DWP have been exceptionally busy interviewing all the Paralympians under caution for taking part in the 2012 Olympics to have the time to worry about someones passport and possible holiday abroad.;););):cool:0

I'm not able to go on holiday abroad but this is exactly what I was concerned about and if it will appear odd.
Thank you for the responses.A big big thank you to everyone who posts competitions and good luck to everyone entering0 -

I wouldn't worry about the DWP - people can have a passport and go nowhere with it. I am sure the DWP have more to worry about than your passport.
What next? You apply for a Dart Tag to use the dartford bridge and the DWP won't like it. Or apply for a Tesco Clubcard. Think this needs to be brought into perspective.
For what my tuppence contribution is worth I renewed my passport about 2 years ago and I get HRC/HRM DLA and have a Motability car. The lease is up on that soon so I might buy a car outright this time.0 -

Do you know I never though about that.
You are right, how could any of them be claiming DLA for example - seems totally ridiculous. I doubt many will be able to claim PIP and participate in the 2016 games.0
