Is renewing a passport ok or likely to raise questions?

Once again I ask, point me to the rules / guidelines or whatever on this, give me a link. Stop talking BS just because you 'say' you have spoken about this to whoever. Give me one link that says that I am not allowed to leave the country for 14 days.
I don't want your drivel that says 'because they told me so', show me! Come on Andy, you're the king of trolling and upsetting people, show me the legislation. You're forever trumpeting rules, here's your chance. Tell me where in those rules that I should inform the DWP as somebody in the ESA support group that I should be telling them of my departure for 14 days? I doubt there's any such rules in the WRAG group either.
I stand to be corrected, please do inform me. I'm pretty much housebound, maybe I should make an itinerary for popping to the supermarket or pub (
if I were so lucky to get out) just to be safe from retribution from the DWP? You really do have too much time on your hands.
I have asked about going away on holiday as my partner is on ESA and told that if the holiday is longer than 28 days then they need to be informed, 28 days or less then no need to inform them. The more I know about people, the better I like my dogs.

Maybe this reply from the DWP in respect of a FOI request will suffice??
From: DWP Adelphi Freedom-of-Information-Request
Department for Work and Pensions
29 June 2011
Our Ref: 1746
Dear Mr Ahmed,
Thank you for your Freedom of Information request of 26 June 2011.
You requested the following information:
If a claimant is in the support group of ESA income related and was wanting to go on a holiday abroad for up to 4 weeks would the claimant have to make the DWP aware of this?
Also would this affect the claimants claim in any way??
Anyone in receipt of Employment and Support Allowance must report any relevant change in their circumstances to DWP. This includes going on holiday abroad.
Income Related Employment and Support Allowance is normally payable for the first 4 weeks of a temporary absence abroad, providing the claimant continues to meet all the other conditions of entitlement during the absence, including the requirement to submit medical evidence. If the
conditions of entitlement continue to be satisfied, the claim should not be affected.
If you have any queries about this letter please contact me quoting the reference number above.
Yours sincerely,
DWP Central FoI Team

So basically if your holiday is longer than a month then you have to tell them. If it is longer than a month then you could lose benefit. If you do just make a new claim on your return. Perhaps they still pay it if you go for four weeks or more.0

But anyway hasn't tinkledom derailed this thread from its purpose which was to confirm that renewing a passport is none of the DWPs business.0

I bet loads of people don't bother to tell of their holiday anyway. Either through ignorance or bloody mindedness.
Who cares anyway. It's just a proxy holiday.0 -

Ah, but if you don't like the rules you just ignore them? Two wrongs certainly don't make a right do they?
I shall remember what your attitude is to DWP rules for the future!0 -

No, I already gave my opinion on what could happen and why if you applied for a passport.
I then replied to a question about having to notify the DWP when going on holiday with that passport which most on here disputed that you were obliged by the DWP to do.
Seems that it is best all round that you drop the DWP an email telling them that you are applying for a new passport with intention of going on holiday abroad.
That way you are covering yourself?0 -

No, you are required by DWP rules to tell them about ANY holiday of ANY length.0 -

Umm good point, but I wonder how many of them, if any, fleece the benefit system0
