Famous last words!!!
What next? You apply for a Dart Tag to use the dartford bridge and the DWP won't like it. Or apply for a Tesco Clubcard. Think this needs to be brought into perspective.
If they were in receipt of HRM they would automatically get a free Dart Tag upon request so that they could drive their Motability car from Kent into Essex.
What has a Tesco club card got to do with it? Mind you if you did get one the info on it is passed to the DWP & HMRC anyhow. It is another tool that they use to see what you are buying, at what cost and which shop you use.0 -
Do you know I never though about that.
You are right, how could any of them be claiming DLA for example - seems totally ridiculous. I doubt many will be able to claim PIP and participate in the 2016 games.
Well DLA and PIP according to the DWP is:
"paid to help you lead an independent life".
Perhaps the extra money they get has been used to buy the sports wheelchairs and so on. I know a disabled chap who plays basketball in his wheelchair. Maybe the DWP need to know.0 -

But those not getting HRM would need to apply for a Dart Tag and cough up. Perhaps the DWP need to know of all those naughty skivers.
Well the big bad DWP wolf hasn't blown my house down yet and grilled me for having a passport.
Incidentally as far as I know ATOS ask for ID when you go to your PIP interview with them. Perhaps it is a trick!0 -

I went to an assessment this afternoon with ATOS and after what was discussed on this thread earlier took my 10 year out of date passport with me (ran out in 2003) - they accepted it. So who needs a new passport for ID - any old one will do.
If you were claiming ESA, would you use your passport to go abroad for a holiday WITHOUT telling the DWP beforehand? I hope you would.0 -

Really. You just happened to have an assessment this afternoon!
I don't claim ESA sorry only DLA and WTC. Neither of which I would bother to tell the DWP or HMRC of my international comings and goings. I don't sit about thinking the DWP are totally hacked off they gave me DLA and are tracking me to see if I slip up. To be fair I couldn't live like that and wouldn't claim. If they do have questions for me let them fire away. If they don't like my claim let the stop it.0 -

Going abroad temporarily
You can claim the following benefits if you’re going abroad for up to 13 weeks (or 26 weeks if it’s for medical treatment):- Attendance Allowance
- Disability Living Allowance - care component
- Personal Independence Payment - daily living component
Tell the office that deals with your benefit that you’ll be away.0 -
Just thought I'd mention that ATOS did ask me for ID and they would not accept my out of date passport
Thankfully it was carried out in my house so I had lots of paper things in my name but I had to produce these, they would not accept my expired passport as proof of ID
Thank you to those posters that have put my mind at ease regarding thisA big big thank you to everyone who posts competitions and good luck to everyone entering0 -
Eerrrr taken from the Gov website:
Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
There are 2 types of ESA - income-related or contribution-based.
You can get both of these for 4 weeks if you go abroad.
Talk to your local Jobcentre Plus before you go.
LOL.....you don't have to tell the DWP every time you go on holiday.0 -
