ooh I bought one of those they look so handy to have, I'm going to have a good crack at breast feeding and if I can do it for the first 6 weeks or so exclusively I'll be happy but I'm enough of a realist to know that most people give up after then so why should I be any different!0

Just to come back to the discussion about buying things early...I was thinking about this in the shower (lol). We bought our first outfit after our early scan and our first 'bigger' thing (Moses basket) after our 12 week scan. Now at 16+3 we are properly thinking about getting things bought.
My mum keeps saying it is too early to buy things (although she had finished knitting the first cardigan less than a week after we told her I was pregnant so she can hardly talk!) but I don't really understand why. I pointed out that when we were getting married, we had bought and organised looooads of stuff more than 5 months before the wedding. What is wrong with doing the same for a baby? Plus, we want to spread the cost rather than having to pay loads out in August or something.
On the other hand, I can see lots of arguments for leaving it (not least that if we get everything really early I might go mad with wanting to buy stuff later in the pregnancy and end up getting a load of unnecessary junk just so I am buying stuff!) Like everything else to do with this business I don't think there is really a right or wrong way. We are just a bit too excited and don't quite have the self control not to start sorting things now!0 -
Oh - weird physical question. Has anyone else's belly button gone a weird colour? That sounds so strange. Hubby noticed it first but I am just sitting here toying with my belly out and I can see it. It basically looks like it is dirty, but it definitely isn't as I tried to clean it and nothing changed! It is really dark. So weird. I have read about innies turning into outies, and about getting a dark line going down from belly button...but nothing about actual belly button going dark inside
Am also getting serious stretch marksit is weird because they are coming in the top half of my belly whereas it is the bottom half that has really pushed out. I still have a 'crease' where my belly button is and the bottom half is way further out than the top half, yet stretch marks at the top? I don't get it!
Sorry.......weird tummy related rant over!0 -
lilmiss, how right you are, we are all those things and so many more. we have obsessions and compulsions about our baby and ourselves and what it is and isn't doing at any one time, here is a good place to come because it generally lets us express the worries, sort out in our heads if we're being serious or just silly (no disrespect intended- silly is aimed at me) and our OH get a bit of peace and quiet.
I've been trying to do a bit more sorting out in the spare room/ craft room, left it in a bit of a mess on Friday cos had to take the dog out whilst the carpet layer was here, and yesterday OH spotted it and was all set to put all the baby stuff up in the loft with all the other things sorted for the loft. Tidying up I did find some brushed cotton sheets OH had a bee in his bonnet about a couple of years ago but which we only used once because they were too warm for him, so I'm planning on turning them into cot sheets and maybe a pram sheet or two. Just need to go and find out what size baby sheets need to be. That will keep me busy for a little while0 -

No but my belly is REALLY hairy! It's blonde thank goodness but there is so much, I have no idea where it came from. I think I am going to be a gorilla by the end of it0 -

Working my way through pages after being in work since last monday ( one day to go... Can't wait). I asked this of the manager in mamas and papas. She told me that you would need to buy a good quality mattress for the carrycot and to bear in mind that they're not designed for long periods of time i.e overnight as they don't have the same 'ventilation' considerations as moses baskets/ cribs. The way she said it made me buy a second hand moses basket... I can kind of see where she's coming from- carrycots are designed to be tough and waterproof but still not sure if she just wanted to bump the bill up... Perhaps bigger boys will know the definite answer.0 -

Anyway, any recommendations on what to use for the horrendous skin stage that I'm going through? My face is getting worse by the day, neck and back are also suffering too as is just into my hairline. Spotty, sore, and very painful. Ive been using Clinique for a number of years as I hate the feeling of anything else on my skin but there's nothing working the now
My skin went awful, spottier than usual but also quite dry/ raw feeling. I bought this http://www.marksandspencer.com/pure-daily-skincare-moisture-plus-miracle-balm-85g/p/p22233494 and a flannel to wash it off. I bought a face oil and day moisturiser from the same brand. My spots have all but gone, skin doesn't hurt and it smells like a spa treat so I really enjoy using it. I have quite sensitive skin and I haven't had a problem with it. May get baby toiletry treats from same range while their discount is on...0 -
The big tesco extra in warrington had Clair de lune Moses baskets reduced to £9.97 last week.0

Also has anyone joined any local baby and toddler for sale or swap groups on fb? I've seen some amazing bargains locally!0
