Hello all, how are we?
Had a lovely day today wandering the shops and looking at baby things. Me and OH got freaked out by how small the newborn clothes are - eek so tiny! Are we really going to be responsible for a suck a little person! We are also really worried we don't know what we're doing as in - what essentials we need, and which ones are good! The whole thing is a bit daunting!
We like the look of the mothercare Experion for a travel system. Anyone any opinions?
Has anyone looked at cots yet?
TCOD - The one2one midwives called yesterday (day after I referred myself) but I missed their call, they called me back this morning! So they've already been in touch far more than my actual midwife! She said my assigned midwife will get in touch with me within 48 hours max - max because she might be at a birth! All sounds great atm, and so pleased you suggested this.
Welcome MrsC
Thanks Purcy & MissI... my headache has disappeared now I'm not in work! My layman's theory is that my hormones are making me over-react to stress. We will see!
MissI - that is a bit worrying about the scan, but it's good they've told you all the options and you know where you stand. And like you say, they sound like they are doing everything they can to reassure you. Let's hope by mid next week you'll have the full picture. *hugs*0 -
Mrs I i am sure everything will be be ok & that yourlittle bundle is really just a little rascal!
I ordered my pram this morning! Felt like such a big step but may make me sound silly! I will be 22 weeks on Tuesday! Anyone else still feel surprised when they look down at their bump or is it just me
I've purchased some nappies & wipes on my last 2 grocery shops. Makes me feel a little more organised! Will try to get a few bits & bobs in each week / payday. I think I will get the crib mattress at the end of this month, then maybe the bedding off ebay once I have made a few sales myself!!
It baffles me how different the mw care plans are! I am in Northern Ireland & so far, touch wood, have had the same midwife at my first 2 appointments (12 & 15 weeks). I actually know 2 of the hospital staff (not midwives though, auxillaries maybe) as they are tenants through work! I too have a list of phone numbers should I have any questions but havent used them yet.0 -
MrsI, I hope you get some more answers on Monday!
I've had the same midwife for both of my GP based appointments so far, there's really just one at our doctors surgery so I guess we do have one-to-one care from that! I was lucky enough that she was on call for home births when I had DS, so she delivered him too
I've just had a look at my remaining annual leave, and I will only need to work one more 5-day week before I start maternity leave! That's only because of a Mon-Fri conference in SpainOtherwise I'll be doing mostly 3-4 days a week. Hopefully it will make things a bit easier, I'm still really exhausted at the weekends. I had been slightly better, but then had to cut out all caffeine because I couldn't sleep at night, and it's really made a difference - I think that had been keeping me going during the day too. DS was pretty good today though, and let me have a 2 hour afternoon nap.

hi, I'm another that has loads of work that needs to be done around the house, but I think we've prioritised doing the fencing round the side garden (once OH has dug up 6-8 tree stumps), replace kitchen flooring and replacing the living room carpet, realistically I know we don't stand a chance with all the other jobs. I have to clear the nursery of all my craft stuff, which also means clearing under the bed in the spare room so some stuff can go under there. we then need to decorate nursery and replace the flooring, which we should have in the garage so long as it fits.
I had Friday off work because by Thursday I was just so exhausted, I'm trying not to use too much annual leave to I can take it either end of my maternity leave but the thought of going in on the Friday could very easily have brought me to tears.
I'm also trying to get ahead with shopping, going to use the aldi nappy vouchers today when we go to use the £5 off a shop voucher from the paper today. I also want to stockpile laundry products, animal food, cleaning stuff, loo rolls, coffee (think that we'll need a fair bit of this once little sausage is here), the expensive, generally heavy, stuff to save some shopping trips in the early days.
talking about seeing tiny clothes in the shops, last week I saw some prem baby clothes in asda, now they were tiny. I told little sausage there and then that I would prefer not to have to buy them, not sure it was listening though
Oh whilst I remember, Asda's baby even will be starting soon, if that's any use to anyone.0 -
Lemon tree do you know when the baby event will be starting and ending?
I got this dress: http://www.next.co.uk/x53260s3#665816x53 the picture does not show you that the fabric is raunched at the sides not only for the front but also for the back. So there's excess fabric at the base of the back. Has anyone else got this dress? What does it look like with a bigger bump?Pots: House £6966/£7100, Rainy day Complete, [STRIKE]Sunny day £0/£700[/STRIKE], IVF £2523/£2523, Car up-keep £135/£135, New car £5000/£5000, Holiday £1000/£1000, MFW #16 £2077/£3120

That is a really nice dresswould not be flattering on me with my giant boobs but I love the colour.
I was ridiculously excited the other day when we stayed in a hotel next to a shopping mall...and in the mall was a giant maternity wear shop! I bought this dress http://www.motherhood.com/Product.asp?Product_Id=90563910022&MasterCategory_Id=MC3&green=7A15FA2C-A338-5649-0095-2E825C994E72 which I hope to wear to a wedding in July and this http://www.motherhood.com/Product.asp?Product_Id=90097900022&MasterCategory_Id=MC3 which is a bit clingy right now when I just look fat but I'm hoping will be nice when I have a proper bump. Also a few cardigans.
The shop was amazing - so much selection and at really decent prices! Why don't we have anywhere like that at home?! It is rubbish having to mostly order maternity clothes online and hope for the best.0 -

I had this dress delivered just yesterday! I loved it but it was too long for me (5ft!)
I ordered my usual size and there was still lots of room in it. I know its hard to gauge but I'm 22 weeks on Tuesday & a lot of people are telling me my bump looks huge already! I weighed just below 10st before I got pregnant & have put on 5 or 6lb so far. If it came in maternity & petite I would have kept it.0 -
