  • Wtdn, not sure if you're area is covered but if you live near the treatment hospital have a look at one-to-one mw. I've self-referred to them as it seems a lot more personalised which i prefer the idea of. xx

    Hi Everyone
21 weeks for me yesterday! Officially passed the half way mark :-)
I am starting to feel slight movements - difficult to describe but almost like popping from the inside lol! Cant wait until its a bit more regular thought!

I am hoping to go with my mum this weekend & order the pram - as we are team yellow I am order a black pram / travel system - Oyster Babystyle I think is the name.
I am not bothering with a moses basket in that hope that I can use a carry cot while downstairs & then the cradle while still in our room.

On that note, I have been looking for bedding for the cradle, and I have seen some nice / cheap things on ebay 7 amazon. I dont want to waste £100 on mamas & papas or winnie the pooh, when I get get a neutral set for £30-£40 on amazon.
Anyone already bought these sets already?

Been lurking for the last couple of weeks since our scares, but I have been keeping up to speed on things - loving all the talk of 20 week scans and people finding out if they're Team Pink/Blue/Yellow! :)

In discussions of maternity jeans, I have a pair of Next "Under Bump" Bootleg jeans and they are really comfy! A bit pricey at £28, but fit really well. Have ordered a pair of over-bump jeans by them so I have a bit of choice as bump gets bigger.

We haven't done a Facebook announcement either - we were reluctant to make a big announcement anyway but given all the ups and downs we've had throughout the pregnancy we have kept it quiet online. Our work colleagues know and if people ask, then we tell them, but we just don't feel comfortable making a big announcement just yet. Not quite sure when we will put it on Facebook mind you!

I've been keeping quiet as I just wanted to take things day by day for a while after all the dramas of the other week, but I can happily say all has been quiet this end since the other week! :D AND we are going for our 20 week scan on Friday! :j Cannot wait to see how Baba is doing, especially as I finally started feeling movements last weekend. :)

As of today I am also now on Easter holidays (thank goodness, am shattered!) and next week Hubby and I will be travelling down south to spend time with our parents and do some browsing/shopping for pushchairs/prams and car seats with the grandparents-to-be. :)

  • Thank you for all the advice.

I woke up this morning with a terrible headache, got an emergency appt at the docs which have signed me off for a week. I nearly cried at the appt. I was just so grateful to be listened to. It appears my headaches are anxiety related (I have been noticing my head whizzing
constantly about stupid things). She also advised taking co-codemal at 8mg only if I have to.

Funnily enough I noticed that one to one midwife thing in the doctors today TCOD. Will have a look.

Thanks for the midwife info Lilmiss. Mine hasn't bothered calling me back from Monday. It says in our notes that phones are off means midwife is not on duty. If phones rings but no pick up to text them and they will call you back! Grrr....

Sorry this has been a bit me me me. :(
  • Tcod one-to-one looks amazing. Seriously considering this. THank you!! X
  • I love the fact that everything is done in community. They come to you for appointments/ injections/ everything really. My friend used them for her little girl and was made up with them. I hate going to that hospital now because of last year so anything that helps me avoid it i'll take!

I've just asked to self-refer. Everything I read about them sounds really positive.

Re the midwife thing, I have only skimmed over posts as I am still on holiday, but I can't call a midwife. I will probably never see the same midwife twice and don't have a number to call or anything. It is a slightly unusual situation in that I live on the edge of one county but my nearest hospital is in the next county along. So the community midwives who do my antenatal appointments come from the county I live in, but they have nothing to do with the hospital where I will deliver and where I go for scans etc as it is in a different county.

Anyway, I think at my booking in appointment they told me if I have any issues I have to call/see a GP. Then after I think 28 weeks I can call the hospital. So I can never call/contact them for anything!

    Hi everyone!
Just graduating from the earlier thread, was hanging about there until my scan this morning. I'm 13 weeks today, brought forward by 1 whole day although that might not be accurate as the little alien wouldn't move so they could get proper measurements. I've got another scan next Thursday as we opted for downs screening (DH dreamt it and I'm superstitious that way) and they couldn't get he NT measurement today either so back we go again.
I got given one photo....face on, as couldn't get a clear one lying down, hence my little alien! Looks like Paul from that film!!!
Anyway, just popping in for now, will get added to the bottom of the list later on with my new date of 16/10 instead of 17/10...will hopefully get that confirmed next week aswell!

  • Welcome to the thread MrsC...to be! :j Lovely to see you here. We got a face-on photo of our little one at our 12 week scan too - as you say ALIEN! :D

Whattodonow, please take it easy. Don't be sorry that your post is all "me me me", it's what this thread is here for and if it helps relieve some of your stress and anxieties by venting, then so much the better! *hugs for you*

Reading through everyone's posts, I am stunned at how different everyone's midwifery care is, especially those that can't even contact their midwives or have no numbers other than A&E to contact in emergencies (or even non-emergencies). At my booking in appointment I was given a range of numbers - the main desk for ante-natal/EPAC, the delivery suite, the main maternity ward and a phone number for the community midwife office to contact my midwife through (but when my midwife is off-duty I can speak to other midwives who are happy to help). Genuinely stunned at people who don't hear back from their midwives after days! I hope things get better for those of you who are struggling with the system.

I have to say though the one-to-one midwife care sounds truly amazing and sounds so positive for continuity of care. :)
