well we managed to sort one of our must do items off the house list today, got the living room carpet sorted, so the manky, randomly faded, yucky orange carpet is going! Yay!!!! can you tell I hate it?
we've also planned the layout of the nursery so know what should fit, though OH's not that good with a tape measure so I'm still doubtful about the bookcase fitting.
  • Peonie I ordered this fabric http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/STARS-GREY-and-WHITE-COTTON-FABRIC-by-the-metre-EX-WIDE-NURSERY-BOYS-FASHION-/200918189808 - the white with grey stars. I'm going to buy a mint green backing fabric, maybe polka dot, not sure yet and a lemon bias tape. I may be being somewhat over ambitious though... Will have to use the secondhand moses basket bedding for my template and see how it goes!

WTDN is this the pram you were looking at? http://www.mothercare.com/Mothercare-Xpedior-3-Wheel-Pram-Pushchair-Travel-System/psX5040,default,pd.html . I had a look and play with that one but I found it a bit awkward to collapse/ change to carry cot and I didn't like that the car selt didn't have a base- i think you just use the belt. I ended up going for the joie chrome travel set which was £230 for seat, pushchair and cot. The car seat base is an extra £80 but is currently £60 in argos. We chose it as the reviews were good (i've been reading them on mumsnet i think...), i could collapse it without having a degree in prams/ trapping bits of me, it is really quite light, you don't need seat adaptors etc. and the handle extends.

I've booked to start an antenatal class soon, part of me is now thinking that it's crazy early but it's got yoga/ relaxation techniques etc. so i'm hoping i won't feel too much of a fraud going yet.

MrsI- hope everything goes well for your scan tomorrow- baby really is on a mission to keep you on your toes!

tcod I love that fabric, I'm sure you'll make a wonderful job of it. I'm going to be recycling the curtains which came in my bedding set to make something more useful, given they are quite thin and wouldn't keep out the light from a lightning bug let alone feebie sunshine.

strange question alert - how do I tell how high my baby is? unfortunately I just don't know what I'm feeling for specially as I have a tummy to start with. also how can you tell when you're feeling baby movements?

Peonie, no issues with the back of the dress. It didn't even look stretched or show the back fat hanging over my bra lol!

Lemon tree, I feel movement still low down, usually between my belly button & knicker line if that makes sense? So far my movements feel similarly to when your tummy bubbles if you have poo cramps or diahhorrea? Like bubbles or flutters I think but not cramping pain, just the gurgling. Sorry that's not the most pleasant of descriptions lol!

I've found it best to tell where baby is if I'm lying flat on my back when in bed - as you rub your hand over your belly you will notice definite firmer bits. You may need to press a bit firmly, but you will suddenly notice them! Our baby is quite often lying up my left hand side and you feel one firm part up the top where the feet are and one lower down where the head is. I have a tummy to start with too and we started noticing this "firmness" about 3 weeks ago (so at about 16 weeks)?

In terms of movements, I only really definitely knew it was baby movements last week (18/19 weeks). Again, lying down and just feeling strange fluttering sensations - the thing that settled it was the strange feeling (almost like gas, but not quite) that rolled across from one side of my tummy to the other - which when we checked for "firmness" on my belly, we realised was baby rolling over from one side to the other. I'm starting to feel more movements and occasional little prods when I'm sitting and walking now, not just when lying down.

I hope this helps, Lemon Tree??

Thank you everyone for all your kind words and support re: our 20 week scan and little one's bowel issues. Starting to feel a bit nervous about our appointment at the big hospital tomorrow, even though I know it will all be fine and we're in the right place.

YES! Credit_crunch, that is without a doubt the best description of baby's movements I've read to date!

Miss I good luck tomorrow. X

Hmmm, credit, I'm not sure about the dress.

I've always liked this curtain fabric/wallpaper http://www.harlequin.uk.com/shop/fabric/what-a-hoot-fabrics/what-a-hoot/?code=HWO03224 but I'm not convinced any of the colour ways are unisex.

I felt my baby for the first time today :happylove
I can not described it at all but I felt something swooshing slowly from one side of my tummy to the other so I got the doppler out.

I think baby has moved up further into my tummy rather than down in my pubic bone where I used to find the hb. Today the hb was so strong and I could hear her moving away from the doppler and then going back and forth. All of a sudden she kicked(?) my tummy right where the doppler was and we heard it crackle, she did it a few more times while the Doppler was on. I think I felt it more as I was pressed on but I have since felt the 'kick' a few more times as I now know what it is..... Well I am choosing to believe it was the baby anyway lol I have been wondering over the past week when I would feel her.

How far on are you lemon? At my 16 week mw appt the midwife felt where my uterus was. Basically you lie on your back and relax, get your hand in the 'austin powers judo chop' position and working from your knicker band to your belly button press gently- as you work up you will feel the difference between uterus and tummy. At 17 weeks (when appt was) mine was about 1.5 inches below belly button which I was pretty shocked at! She said baby was about size of my hand but not to expect to feel definite movement until about 22 weeks which was a bit meh really. Hope I feel something that I can attribute to baby before then! :)

Peonie, I love that fabric and wallpaper. :)

    Good luck tomorrow Miss I.
