One of my friends was unable to breastfeed (emergency c-section, mastitis etc). She's a gp and not stupid but the abuse she got from other mums and other health care people was crazy. Never understood the militant breastfeeding league as long as mum and baby are happy and fed what's the problem. I hope to breastfeed but if I can't then formula it is- better than the alternative (tea and cake...)
my mum bf me but not my brothers so I don't have any real life experience of a breastfeeding relative. One of my other friends still breastfeeds at 15 months and has no shame in whipping her boob out- i doubt i'd be that blaise- or do it for that long, though the extra calorie burn is tempting...! Lol.
Such good advise is anyone else stick of having the benefits of breastfeeding ram down their throat I had 10 leaflets in my maturnity pack coupled with a lecture from MW on it. If I can I will but it's my body! and all this pushing is going to make me feeling F****** S*** if I can't!:kisses3: Married 29th September 20120 -

One of my colleague bf & expressed a fair bit too & she used avent bottles.
They seem to be available every where so I think I'm going to get some when they are in offer.
Can I ask if / when you ladies feel movement yet? I will be 20 weeks on Tuesday & haven't felt anything worth talking about. I know it happens at different time for different people but I can't help but worry a bit :-(
If it your 1st it can take a while so don't worry some books say up 23 wks! and it can vary as to what you feel to my felt like solid trapped wind that pulsed some people say flutters or butterflys or bubbled now it just feels like pokes in the ribs, bladder and kidneys!:kisses3: Married 29th September 20120 -
Disney_Pluto wrote: »Credit Crunch. I'm 20+3 and I started to feel kicks about 9 days ago so I wouldn't say it's anything to worry about if you haven't felt anything. My midwife said that I would start to feel it from 18-24 weeks. I also feel it when I'm laying flat on my back in bed the most generally in the morning.
I've bought a few maternity clothes so nice tops to go out in but strappy tops etc just got from h&m as there not too badly priced and I'm going to take a look on eBay.
Had the worst week the last week. My nans just been diagnosed with terminal cancer completely out of the blue no signs symptoms nothing and it's unlikely she will be here long enough to see the baby. It's first time I've written that and I can't bare to think about it. We only lost my grandad last year too. To top it off I've now got a sticking cold just to make matters worse.
Anyway sorry to bring the thread down. Got my scan to look forward to Friday. Think some others are the 2nd April so bit before me?
sorry to hear about your Nan .:kisses3: Married 29th September 20120 -
Sorry to hear about your Nan Disney.
Good luck to everyone having scans today, I hope that baby behaves themselves and you get some lovely scan pics. One month to go for mine, getting impatient! At least I seem to be moving up the list a little bit
I have my next midwife appointment tomorrow (16+5). Hopefully she won't tell me off too much for refusing to believe I had a urine infection and not taking my antibiotics... eep. Fingers crossed everything really is ok!
It looks like we're starting our major building project next week - 2 storey extension. Not looking forward to all the chaos but we had to make a decision - start now, or leave it a year until after baby arrives and we get good enough weather to take part of the roof off again. So we are taking the plunge and going ahead. DS is very excited about the idea of diggers. Funnily enough, last time I was pg we were re-doing the inside of the house, I was plastering and painting etc. It seems that as soon as we think about any kind of big house project I get pg (well, 2 out of 2 times so far). So, no more DIY after this I think!0 -
Afternoon ladies
My nan's funeral went OK yesterday and seeing my dad wasn't as bad as I had invisioned, I actually think we may be making progress in our relationship so thats good. We are at least on speaking terms now so I guess some good has come out of my nan passing, if you can call it that.
Well I'm 14+3 today and no sign of the blooming. In fact I would say I am looking the roughest I ever have. My roseaca has really flared up I'm struggling with clothing so I went out in my lunch break and got some more materinty clothes and a load of skin treatmeants. I am determinded to look hot whilst being preggers! Pffft I can dream lol.
I'm in work today and it's really quiet. There is no one else around and I am so tempted to just go to sleep zzzzzz! Where is the burst of energy I was promised in the 2nd trimester?
Good luck to anyone having scans today and hugs to anyone needing them xx0 -

I am taking some time owed today to come home and have a sleep - no burst of energy here...
Hope those 20 week scans have gone well.
LailaP - glad the funeral wasn't as you expected it. Funny how, out of something bad, something good can happen sometimes. My grandfather had a bad stroke a few years ago and my nan would say one of the good things was how family flocked round to help.
claire16c - you have some mad skills.
It was my dad's bday today so we popped round the the scan photos and his pressie. We then went in the loft where my mother had stored a lot of baby stuff which we have rescued with the plan to clean and see what's still usable as the baby of the family is 22 next month! There's a cot, moses basket, pram (not sure if there is a base - DH think it is there but looks suspiciously like stroller base to me), some blankets and christening materials (left those as we are not religious, although father suggested baby naming/wetting head party which appeals now, may not when I'm exhausted).
Just looking through gumtree for bargains, then off to check out ebay. Need to stop being in denial about buying mat clothes. The scan means I have realised I am not actually mad but allowed to get excited (but not too excited, long way to go...) :TMet DH to be 2010
