Saw the midwife today, told her I've convinced myself it's a phantom pregnancy because I barely saw the baby when they scan happened and she wasn't able to hear the heartbeat last week. How daft is that?
Thankfully this week we heard the heartbeat so there's definitely someone there! OH is still convinced it's a girl, now he thinks the speed of the heartbeat is backing up his assertions lol. Not sure what he'll do if it's not playing ball at the 20 week scan.
Finally got the bloods taken for my Quad test this morning, proper blood nurse (can't spell the real name) just blamed midwife for not being able to find veins but it took her 20 mins to find one today after a couple of attempts and I've got a stonking great bruise. Even when I donated blood I never ended up with bruises so this has made me a bit grumpy

Glad to hear I'm not the only person thinking I have a phantom pg! Exciting to hear the heartbeat. Was it a phlebotomist? Think you're brave - I am such a wimp with blood tests

I had convinced myself of a phantom pregnancy too, owing to the fact that we conceived quicker than expected I think. My 12 week scan was so clear though I definitely knew there was a baby in there.


My bump has certainly grown in the last couple of weeks, I have started taking bump pics

Where's *my* bump. I want one. I think it may just be stopping me from holding my belly fat in at the mo so just looks like i'm fat(ter). Got 16 week appointment with mw next week. 20 week scan seems ages away though. Anyone doing/ done a 4d scan. If so what week are you thinking is best?

I've taken Lemon Tree's list so hopefully that is the right one.

I had my consultant appointment today. I was hoping to meet the well known consultant whose name I was given, but turned out to be a very junior doctor who didn't seem to have heard of the surgery I had for cancer, or the one last week! He asked why I stayed for 3 nights, as it's normally day surgery. DH and I were a bit gobsmacked. I think he thought it was a vaginal cerclage. Not sure how many abdominal surgeries are done as day cases!

He kept referring to me requesting an elective C-section (with a tied up cervix not sure how it is elective) and said as a low-risk case they would take me to 39 weeks at least.

Anyway, he took the notes to the senior guys, and came back with a bit more logical sounding advice and has referred me to have the cervical length regularly reviewed. We decided not to worry, as in theory I'm now a safe normal pregnancy, and will be under the care of the fetal care centre until 26 weeks.

Thank god we were referred to the previous doctors as I suspect I would still be fighting for any kind of treatment if we had waited for this appointment. Not exactly reassuring, but I'm pushy enough to get what I think is needed if necessary.

t2d - pete's sake. Thank goodness you're on top of things and assertive enough to get your message through. You're right to never believe doctors necessarily know everything. Scary but true.

tcod - I'm excited about the thought of a bump too. I keep having fake bloating/constipation bumps that have vanished by the morning. Romantic.

I am full of cold at the moment and snoring fit to wake the dead. Poor DH.
