12-24 weeks pregnant (part 3)

Disney, sorry to hear about your nan. That sort of news is hard at any time but I can see why it would knock you more sideways when pregnant. I spent 3 years freaking out my remaining grandparents wouldn't see their first great-grandchild as they're both quite frail now. Got everything crossed for you that she makes the first cuddles.
Peonie, sorry to hear about your sister. Hope her treatment isn't too brutal and goes well. xx
T2D glad your home and resting- hope your recovery is straightforward and as pain free as can be. Glad it's all over for you for now.
My local hospital has stopped providing formula/ bottles for women who don't want to breastfeed so you have to take your own in (not formula either- only the pre-made milk). I thought that was a horrendous new rule- what if you don't want to/ can't breastfeed? What if you wanted to but your labour was hideous/ your milk hasn't come in etc. Might be something to check if your hospital's are as ridiculous...
Btw... someone said norks...:rotfl: It made me snort.
I read that first movements tend to be much later for first time pregnancies and also it depends on where your placenta is. If it's at the front then it sort of dampens the movements until the baby is a bit bigger. I can hear it sloshing around on the doppler but haven't felt anything yet (16+2) I was hoping to feel it really early with the half a womb thing but no. Nothing. Pfff...
I should be doing a data analysis but now I want to look at half price mat clothes on M&P. Btw- asos has a 50% sale on with mat clothes in it. Some lovely pretty things in it.0 -
It's the same here TCOD if you want to use formula you have to take your own cartons. I'm thinking of getting one or two for my hospital bag just in case.
I started to feel movement at 17 weeks and this is my first baby. At first I wasn't sure if it was baby or wind, but gradually became stronger and more regular.0 -
Lemon Tree, any name will suffice let's do it! I was telling my MIL my fears and she said if I get any trouble to call her and she will come down :rotfl:
Sorry and hugs to all the ladies having a hard time at the moment xx
I have to go to my nans funeral tomorrow. We weren't close but obviously I'm sad but what's making it harder is I will be seeing my estranged dad after almost 8 years. Feeling really nervous and I don't want it to distract from the real reason everyone is there!0 -
V quick post before I forgot - my friend had her baby last March. She had to be induced as she was very late. She spent 3 days in hospital and post birth wasn't producing enough milk. New mum, mildly traumatic birth, she didn't realise that the reason her baby was shouting the house down was that he was hungry. No one told her and when she finally figured it out she was told they did not supply formula.
I would say YES definitely take a spare made up milk with you in case.Met DH to be 2010
Moved in and engaged 2011
Married 2012
Bought a house 2013
Expecting our first 2014 :T0 -
Anyone else suffering from heartburn? I'm 18 weeks on Thursday and its starting to get more regular especially at night. I remember when I was carrying my daughter I had it really bad everyday n someone told me that's a sign that she will have a good head of hair....i thought what a load of nonsense all my babies prior to that have had very fine hair like me but she was right, daughter came out looking like a little gorilla haha0

It is suppose to be an old wives take teabag, but who knows... I have read that all babies in the womb are covered in a layer of hair call lanugo which goes away before birth. Do you know at what stage babies get hair on their head?
Hope it all went well today LailaP.
I heard sloshing on the Doppler too TCOD but assumed it was my insides making noises. My niece said it was the baby trumping!! Haha0 -
Hey ladies just popping on to update, I had my 20 week scan today and can announce that I'm………………….team yellow but not by choice! Baby is lovely and wriggly and everything is looking great but then the second she went to look between their legs they crossed them so she couldn't see! I want to be disappointed but I'm so thrilled that they are doing well that I can't really be anything other than happy!0

A little bit about me - this is my first-pg, IUI baby, as my wife (unsurprisingly!) doesn't have any spermI was very lucky and got pregnant on the first go - thanking our lucky stars. I very naively thought pregnancy was going to be a breeze as before about 6 weeks I exercised daily so was very fit and well; since then I've been lucky to cycle twice a week and that's about it!!! Planning a homebirth but depends on my risk level - at scan today they saw a fibroid so 20-week scan will be with a consultant, so that plan may well be scuppered, we shall see!!! I'm also in the midst of buying first house, can't wait to get in and start nesting
Particularly sorting out the nursery.
A good friend of mine is passing on basically all of her baby stuff so holding on until we collect it this weekend to see what we'll actually need to buy, think it might just be a moses basket and car seat!
I've no idea why but don't want to cave in and buy maternity wear until I really have to - although I have a definite (little) bump already - luckily I lost about a stone before conceiving so trousers had got baggy: most definitely filling them now though!!!
Nice to see some familiar names from the less than 12 weeks threadTotal money owed: [STRIKE]31/07/11- £17,877[/STRIKE], LBM - 14/10/12 :j, 01/06/13 - £0 DEBT FREE!!!!

Just de lurking to say sorry you had more bleeding mrs I but glad your hospital is being good. I had my baby on Saturday morning so you can definitely have bleeding and a baby! So the cause of my bleeding will always be unknown as it's not like they discovered anything during the birth!
Congrats!!!Now a SAHM trying to earn some spare pennies each month0 -
