Peonie, i have a pair of mat under bump jeans and a pair of over bump leggings. The jeans are a nightmare- they will not stay up at all. I'm going to try over bumps as the leggings are a wonderful comfy dream. A girl in my work last year also went over bump as she struggled to get the under bumps to stay up- she's a size 10 so much slimmer than me and bought much more expensive ones than me which makes me think they're just not that great... Maybe try some on though to see? H&m have a selection in store to try out.
i'm in weird clothes limbo at the moment. Bump nowhere near big enough to warrant over bump pants, underbump pants won't stay up and normal clothes just aren't comfy. Surviving in the wonderous leggings and a couple of dresses- really hate wearing dresses though. Not a dress sort of woman and my job really isn't dress friendly.
I haven't looked at bottle sets properly yet as I was going to wait for the breastfeeding classes. Want to breastfeed then express so OH can do nightfeeds when milk established but no idea what I'd need to look for in a bottle so I'm just going to wait. Did see pouches that you can use to freeze milk in which I preferred as the other methods looked quite bulky and our freezer space is limited! OH had a right laugh at the breast pumps though- i think he thought you expressed like a cow is milked (i.e. Manually...) seriously, I need to find someone with a little baby so he can have a clue on what one even looks like up close before the end of this!0 -
TCD, with DS I used Lansinoh milk storage bags. I think of about 50 or so bags that we used, only one split when defrosting. Much cheaper than the pots
We used Avent bottles for feeding I think.
Uh-oh, screaming toddler....0 -
Bluebell- can you reuse them or are they single use?0

hi I've had a few recommendations from friends who used the tommee tippee bottles, they had both tried breastfeeding and it just didn't work for them but their babies settled really easy with the bottles. I have to admit I won't be breastfeeding, I know everyone is different but neither my mum nor my sister were able to breastfeed and I know this is just silly but I can't imagine getting my boobs out at my parent's house let alone as the outlaws house or in public. But that's just me.0

Each to their own lemon.
One of my friends was unable to breastfeed (emergency c-section, mastitis etc). She's a gp and not stupid but the abuse she got from other mums and other health care people was crazy. Never understood the militant breastfeeding league as long as mum and baby are happy and fed what's the problem. I hope to breastfeed but if I can't then formula it is- better than the alternative (tea and cake...)
my mum bf me but not my brothers so I don't have any real life experience of a breastfeeding relative. One of my other friends still breastfeeds at 15 months and has no shame in whipping her boob out- i doubt i'd be that blaise- or do it for that long, though the extra calorie burn is tempting...! Lol.

oh the calorie burning potential is very tempting! but I just know it's not for me. I also know that I will have to stick to my guns when I'm in hospital because they can be very militant. But also to be fair I think having a baby is one of the most stressful (but rewarding) things that can happen and to put yourself through even more stress just to keep others happy is wrong. My sisters children have not suffered for having not been breastfed, though it was touch and go with her first as the hosp wouldn't let her try a bottle because she had said she want to try and feed him herself, and in the end, after 4 days of him not getting it, when they tested his sugar levels the were below 1! he's now 17 and 6ft 8 and still growing so in the end it all worked out but it was touch and go to start with.0

I think I'm going to try my best to breast feed for as long as I can but try not to beat myself up if it doesn't work out. I don't think I'd be overly comfortable whipping out my norks in public but hoping that with the use of a shawl I'll just about manage! Would be nice to express too so DH can have a turn feeding them.
Just ordered our baby hammock today, I've been reading amazing things about them so we're going to use it instead of a moses basket for the first 6 months ish.
I'm so excited about tuesday and finding out what we're having I've got my heart set on a cosatto giggle travel system and have seen them for an absolute steal but need to know whether they're a boy or girl to settle on a final design :j:j
As for maternity jean and trousers I went for over the bump and they are aaaaaaaamazingly comfortable. I managed for quite some time using a hairband over my regular trousers as well though.
Baby is currently squirming around like they're having a dance in my tummy and it's the most wonderful feeling in the world0 -
TeaCake, I read some instructions about how to hand express, if sounded like you needed 3 hands. I think I'll go for an electric pump. It's a good idea to wait for the breast feeding classes... but they are cheaper now... I don't want to pay full price.
The disposable pouches are good for freezer space and the cost but I don't like the fact they are disposable. The cups can be used for milk, baby food and snacks. The T0mmee T1ppee cups had bad reviews as the lids came off but Av3nt got good reviews plus the 20 pack comes in 2 sizes. Have you seen the milk skelter/ramps on the American pages? They keep the milk in age order. I want one.
Thanks for the over/under bump info. Keep the reviews coming.
Last week I looked at the maternity clothes in Debs. The dresses were SHORT and many did not have longer fabric at the front! I would look indecent.Pots: House £6966/£7100, Rainy day Complete, [STRIKE]Sunny day £0/£700[/STRIKE], IVF £2523/£2523, Car up-keep £135/£135, New car £5000/£5000, Holiday £1000/£1000, MFW #16 £2077/£3120

I got some under the bump next jeans on Friday peonie and I have it sat they are great! Didn't go for over the bump as there's really nothing there to go over but like tcod was starting to feel a bit uncomfortable in normal jeans.
No problems with them staying up either so I'm happy.
Also ordered similar black trousers for work but size wasn't right (even tho same size as jeans so they are back and more ordered.
Where i live the shops font stock maternity wear so having to do it all online which means at least a week ahead if not more where you need to swap things!!Baby on board - EDD 29th Sept0 -
