I will be bottle feeding from the off. I have extremely sensitive and painful breasts and nips, even before I was pregnant so it's not something I am comfortable with as I know it will be too painful. OH can't even go near them.
I have to admit I am really stressing about the reaction I will get from people and I hear horror stories about mean midwives who try to force BF. TBH this scares me more than the actual giving birth.

I have the same worries as well, maybe we should head to the hospital together and back each other up :)

:) thanks. It's a weird and wonderful place in my head.

Good news on the mat wear.

Ladies - tees me off IMMENSELY when people insist that bf is the only way. Look around the supermarket, your work, your friends - any idea who was bf and who was not? No, exactly. If it happens great. If it doesn't these bossy nurses need to build a bridge and get over it.

Welcome lilmissreading glad your scan went well.

Hugs Disney so sorry to hear about your nan.

Glad your out of hospital t2d and I hope you start to perk up a bit soon.

Re BFing, I'm going to give it a good try as I know it's best for baby but tbh I feel a bit awkward about it. I certainly won't be flaunting it in public or even my family and ideally I'd like to be able to express and share feeding duties with my OH. But as I well know it doesn't always work out how you'd like. My sister was really gutted that she couldn't BF her first and put herself through hell with guilt, so I was always really offended on her behalf if anyone felt the need to disapprove.

I'm totally shattered today. 13 more weeks at work to go!

  • Disney - so sorry to hear that. i still have one grandparent and it was important to me that she makes it too see her first great-grandchild. How painful.

t2d -glad to hear you're out of hospital and good luck with onwards recovery. I can't imagine post op fatigue mixed with pg fatigue.

Bluebell - thanks for the bf advice re the amount of time to express. Hadn't really thought that one through.

    Your poor DSis Peonie :(

I cried at the end of Kindergarted Cop on Sunday :o can't imagine what I'd be like if there was something genuinely sad to cope with

  • Thanks for all your good thoughts. She's my only Grandparent left and she was so excited about the baby. Still holding out hope she will still be with us in 4 ish months. Don't know if it's pregnancy or what but it's really hit me hard.

    Likmiss welcome to the thread.

T2d glad the op went well and hope you feel better soon.

Wang glad I'm not the only one still so tired. Everyone said it would fade but I'm still so tired.

Regarding bf I will try my best but not going to be hard on myself if I can't do it. I would also like to express so babies also used to bottle for when they get a little older plus think my HB would like to do some feeds too. I think a lot if the stigma attached to not BF is starting to disappear or at least what I've seen.

Silly question: is it possible to breast feed and express at the same time? Mmm, maybe not enough hands and the noise could disturb the baby.

    Thanks Lilmiss.

Sorry to hear about your nan Disney ((hugs)) x

I also intend to express but the main reason for this is that I think it will help with a better night time routine. I know they say you work out how much they have eaten by how long they feed but surely it changes baby to baby? So in my mind they would get settled into a routine easier with known amounts?? I am rambling now..

    Welcome lilmissreading :)

I told my General Manager and Financial Director at work today by email. The GM congratulated me but said we need to sit down tomorrow and make a plan about my colleague stepping up and doing my job and me passing on duties. I felt that was a little rushed as I intend to be there for the next five months! Phasing me out before I am ready :(
The FD never even responded and when I spoke to her later she mentioned something I had later sent in an email..... was quite surprised and she is my direct line manager who I work with closely (but remotely) and I expected a little more :j
