  • What a nice splash of yellow there is now on the list!!! And hello and welcome to gayleygoo! Thanks for giving me the excuse to update the list with my own yellowness!!!!

So, 20 week scan this morning and our little baby is... a right awkward little pickle (no surprise there :p!) who refused to co-operate at all! The sonographer was really nice and avoided my wound/scar and didn't press too hard - which may have been why she couldn't get all measurements. So we have to go back in two weeks for another go! (oh well... ;) ) I have an anterior placenta which is probably why I haven't felt any movement yet (20 wks today!) The sonographer was so relieved we didn't want to find out the sex as she said there was no way she could have seen anything!!!

Then I saw the doc for my post-op review and they confirmed that everything looks ok and the cyst is not cancer and they have discharged me from the surgical clinic :T
They also said (when I asked) that yes, I can hope to have a vaginal delivery now - hooray!!! :j

We have names picked and aren't telling anyone. They are a bit unusual so hopefully they won't be pinched by anyone we know! My SIL had a baby girl in the summer and named her Susanna which I think is beautiful and fortunately wasn't even on our list of possibles!!

  • So glad your scan went well & they were gentle with you! Yay for team yellow! Will give us all nice surprises in a few months time!

Someone asked me earlier how many months I was, I'm so used to thinking in weeks but realised I'm nearly 5. It just seems to be flying by now! 21 weeks today, repeat 20 week scan next Tuesday, seem to have a lot of appointments booked from then on, I think all of our babies will be here before we know it at this rate!
  • Hi all, I had another scan yesterday along with a blood test for the Harmony test which will also give me a definite (well 99.5%) answer on which team we are going to be so there will be a little more blue or pink on the list shortly. For those of you who are waiting to find out, I don't know how you can do it, I am far to nosey to wait !

I had a bit of a shock this week as my blood pressure was a little high when I had my 12 week scan so the GP has been keeping an eye on it a couple of times a week and it shot through the roof on Tuesday so now I'm all medicated and it seems to be coming back down again thankfully.

    Hope everyone is OK.

Interesting! One of the names we like for a boy was mentioned in this article as becoming more popular, but not in their list of ones to watch. I'm going to remain quiet on the name front and not share our favourites, as they are bound to change anyways :)

Did anyone see this list published the other day? https://www.yahoo.com/parenting/whats-in-a-baby-name-future-behavior-suggests-103562720997.html Naughty and nice names! I definitely disagree with Amy being top of the nice list, as the Amy's I know of at school are quite far away from that :p Interesting that Jamie is naughty but James is nice. I also personally associate Ryan with a naughty boy rather than a nice boy, but I do like the name :)

For girls names, I was having this conversation with some of the girls in my form just today funnily enough. I am finding it difficult to decide on a girls name as I have taught most of them and so therefore associate the name with the child! Also, working in a girls school with 900 on roll it will be hard to choose on one that doesn't belong to someone in the school unless its really 'out there', but we're not fond of the really unusual ones! I have said for definite though that it won't share the name of someone in my form class, to which a few were disappointed :p

I've just been amusing myself with the 'Unusual Celebrity Baby Names' which is also found by following that link... Some I'd already heard of (Moon Unit and Sage Moonblood :p) but other's are just ridiculous... Nicholas Cage's son is Kal-El after Superman, Spike Lee's daughter is called Satchel, the magician Penn's daughter is called Moxie Crimefighter  and Mariah Carey named one of her twins Moroccan!

I apologise if any of you had decided on any of those :rotfl:
  • Just looked at the list of names. I seem to have liked a name since I was 18 which is up & coming in the year I'm having a baby! I'm finding it very hard to think of any names I love, hubby keeps nagging me to think about it properly! Oh dear.
  • The whole naming thing is a bit of a nightmare... fun and exciting but scary!
We're planning to stay 'Team Yellow' so are looking at names to cover both eventualities... and can't find anything for either that we both like! It doesn't help that DW is a teacher so a lot of names get ruled out before I've even finished uttering them!
It's funny how names' popularity comes and goes for no apparent reason sometimes... obviously royal babies often lead the way for some names... and characters in popular culture etc but there seems to be little reason for some names suddenly regaining popularity. Having looked at the link above some of the names I liked (and thought a little different!) seem to be coming back, which puts me off! I have this thing whereby I really don't want our child to end up being referred to as 'such and such' G - ie using a surname initial for differentiation. I want them to be an individual... but not because they have such a ridiculous name that nobody else has it if you know what I mean!?
I also have this fear of clashing with the new royal baby, which I'd hate! Nothing against the royals but I wouldn't want my offspring saddled with people thinking he/she was named after a royal baby! :rotfl:
  • sorry to mention the "C" word... but what is everyone doing for Christmas?! :xmassmile

We usually go down south and visit all the relatives but we're using the fact that (a) I will be 24 weeks (on Christmas Eve!) and (b) I've just had my operation - to stay at home instead. We didn't really fancy the whole tedious car journey(s) and sofa-bed thing! We've managed to be super organised and all presents are already wrapped and down south so at least we don't have to worry about that.

The thought of having our last Christmas as just the two of us is very appealing. We'll probably even get a tree (sometimes we don't bother if we're going to be away for a long time) and we'll eat what we want to eat when we want to eat it lol!!
