Princess Kate when we first started TTC we earmarked Leo as our potential boys name, as it was DH middle name and his maternal grandfathers name. Then his cousin had a boy and named him Leo; we were gutted! 2 years on we have only met Leo once so really we probably could use it
Ive always wanted Elizabeth but my sister called her baby Betsy. Even though officially she isn't an Elizabeth, Betsy is a nickname of Elizabeth.
Then I really like Olivia but it is too popular for my liking and a friend called her baby Olivia. Following that I wanted Evie/Evelyn but then my cousin (who has the exact same name as me) has recently called her baby Evie.
Finally, this year I my fav was Elsie but after Frozen Elsie and Elsa are becoming very popular. I have this thing about not wanting to have a really really popular name. Im edging towards Eloise which we would shorten to Elsie but OH not too keen.
So im really really struggling to choose a girls name. My list of potentials is about 15 long.
Boys name I only have 2 that I like but they are both high potentials in the betting arena for Prince Williams next child due at a very similar time and I would hate to choose the same name as them as once again, it will become really popular.0 -
I think if we had a girl we would still use the name, I always loved Amilia but it's so popular now it puts you off using it. My friend is pregnant & due 6 weeks after me, with her 1st pregnancy she told me all potential names, now shes it saying, I guess I wouldn't either. You don't want to love a name & then someone jump in & steal it!0

Hi all, been a bit rubbish posting recently as I seem to have got really busy all of a sudden!
Glad scan went well millysg1, yay for another team yellowAnd hello to georgie262 - rants are always welcome, and guaranteed there will be at least one of us who can relate!
danielley - how lovely that you got noticed as a pregnant ladyI've still got girls at school who aren't sure! One asked me today 'if the rumours are true'
I've been wearing hoodies at work though so not as noticeable, its the weekends when I'm in my normal clothes that the bump is apparent!

Georgie- it's definately hard work with a toddler, mine is 2 years 3 months. Honestly housework isn't that important as long as you are looking after yourself.
Felt baby kick for the first time at the weekend which is exciting, feel it a little bit each day now.
I was very excited to receive 5 bags of clothes from a work colleague the other day for my 2 year old boy, there is so much I have been passing out to family and friends as well.
Sex wise, we aren't finding out but my sister and mum would love me to have a girl as we have 4 boys in the family. I would be happy enough to have another boy as I am a bit of a tomboy.
Did you guys know if you hand in a bag of old clothes to h and m you get a 5 pound voucher off 30 spend going to use this to buy a maternity coat from there.:jMarried 16/07/2010, ds1 born 11/08/12, baby due 08/05/20150 -
Aw I feel so very welcome now:beer:
Thank you for all the welcomes!!
I LOVE talk of names my Nan's name is Sadie and I would love to use it for a girl. At a family gathering my cousin looked like I'd slapped her when I said it though as she'd been planning to use that name too - but she's only just finished uni and a lot younger than me and not looking to have a baby anytime soon (AFAIK)! I like Henry and Dylan for boys but I'm not 100% on them to be honest. It's hard.
Hope everyone has a lovely day!0 -
Georgie, those boy names were on my list too :-)
As we have to think of two girl names, it's convenient that we found two girls names we both like. Only two though! So if we change our minds on either I've no idea what we will do. One is Mia and the other is Polly. Polly was my nickname at university, derived from my surname, and the babies will have OH's surname so we thought it would be nice to reference my name in there too.
I don't have any family members or close friends expecting; I know a few other people who are but I think we'd still use the names if they did. OH has just had two cousins have babies but there were both boys, one of whom used one of our favourite boy's names!0 -
Hi all
I have been lurking around on this thread for ages but don't think I've ever said hello. I'm 19 weeks today so I figured I should join in!
My scan is 3rd December (a week away, eek!), and we are not looking for find out the sex of the baby, I've just found it so lovely to wait with my previous two babies, and since I have a girl and a boy already, I really have no preference for this little one!
Georgie, I believe we have the same due date - 22nd April? Sorry to hear you've been struggling, I can't imagine how difficult it must be to work full-time and have your hubby home so late in the evening - I get tetchy if mine is "late" home, which is after 4pm for him! I also do not iron anything at all, if something needs ironed then I'll probably not wear it too often! Don't worry about sending your LO to nursery in a mucky coat - anyone who works with young children should be happy to see they have been out playing, rather than have a parent who doesn't let them get dirty at all.
Names are hard. If it's a girl I'd like Freya or Freda. For a boy, DH would prefer an Irish name, but it's got to be something that can be pronounced and maybe even spelled by most people we know - some Irish names can be crazy looking! Eoin, Lochlann, Fionn and Rory are currently being considered. While it can be fun discussing names with family and friends, it can be better to keep your favourite names to yourself - some people might be rude about a name you really like and try to put you off. Once the baby is born and named, they will probably hold their tongue though!

Gayleygoo! Oooh snap for the 22nd! (i was 2 weeks over with DS1 and I bet it'll be the same next time too) I know all about keeping the names to yourself - I was talking about the names we had for DS last time I was pregnant and my Bro-in-law thought we were joking and said "dont call him that unless you want him to be bullied in school" - we did - and it's not that unusual - it's in the top 50 boys names! We still joke about it at least.0
