  • Has anyone else thought of any classes they're going to do? Anyone planning on doing NCT?

Not sure. In fact I was looking at the leaflet just this afternoon going through some pregnancy paperwork :p
I don't think we'll go the paid NCT ones. I know people say they are good for making friends but we would have to travel a fair bit to get to them so I would rather spend the money on the various Mum&Baby groups in the local villages that are near where we live.

I had heard that the NCT classes (free or paid) tend to focus on a "normal/average" birth which I understand but as I might have been having a c-section that kind of put me off. Now that the cyst has been removed I will hopefully find out at my post-op review (after my 20 week scan) whether or not they will let me have a vaginal delivery or not!

I have heard good things about Lazy Daisy so I may look them up. I do also have some "Hypnobirthing" CDs so might as well give those a try!! I'll take all the help I can get :rotfl:

  • Had my 20 week scan today, all is well and TEAM YELLOW baby was wriggling away like mad making it hard to get some images and measurements but amusing for us! The sonographer persevered though and everything is as it should be so we are a very happy set of parents to be at the moment :) It's just scary to think now though that that's it, no more scans unless there is a problem! We're definitely going to go for a private scan :p

Ooh I need to research some classes, I definitely want to go but I'm also not sure what to go for. My friend's cousin runs a hypnobirthing course so I will try and find out more from her. I've also heard of Lazy Daisy through browsing the big girl thread but again I need to research it in my area. I agree Princess, once we start booking in all these things the time will fly by!

Welcome again to our latest newbies, good to see you have moved up successfully from the other thread :)
  • So glad all was fine with your scan missy & yay for team yellow! Are you going to have a 4d scan next? The detail you seen on those is crazy!!

I seem to have a flurry of appointments towards the end of my pregnancy, now I've booked these classes and by the time I fit in my Lazy Daisy course and the couples class I'm going to be a busy Princess!

Another colleague of mine has had to finish work early today, she's 32 weeks and has really high blood pressure. They've given her a steroid injection incase they need to deliver early, scary as the last girl I work with who had a baby was 6 weeks early too. Has to be the stress of the place, crazy to think I'm the next one to go off now!

  • Hi to Wendz, Hippihaz and Downhill.

Hope the sickness stops for your wife soon Downhill, I'm still being treated for it at 17 weeks and it's not a nice feeling :(

Hope your feeling better Danielley. Xx

Pram wise, DH has sad I can pick any pram I want as this is our last bubba! I'm torn between an xplory and a cosatto giggle (previous models have had recalls due to problems)

We live near a mothercare outlet so will be going there to pick it :)

Proper movements have started this week, and cravings for beetroot and salt&vinegar crisps. Yum! ( not good for weight gain though)

Hope everyone else is well! Can't remember half of what I was going to write xx

Glad the scan went well Missy.

We did the standard nhs class last time, we did an all day one as DH's shifts make it hard to do a weekly thing. Was OK but I found I knew a lot of what they said from my own research. I did do a breastfeeding workshop which was quite useful.

Friends who have done NCT found it good for the social side.

I am going to a vbac class this time , leaning towards trying for one anyway but will help make my decision.
  • Great tips for the classes, thanks very much those who offered comments. Still not got around to looking, will try to this week.

Just thought I'd pop on and give a quick tip for any of you who have a Christmas party or occasion coming up whilst pregnant... the slimmer the fit, the more flattering! My ASOS order arrived and the dress that looks the nicest is the figure hugging one I nearly didn't order! I'm normally a size 12-14 so not thin in any way and normally steer clear of such dresses as they show off lumps and bumps, however when I tried on my usual floaty style I just looked huge and like I was wearing a tent. The figure hugging dress accentuates curves but also shows off the bump amazingly. As my mum put it, I look unmistakably pregnant in that one, however in the other looser fit one I could be pregnant or overweight :o I happen to be both ha!

Have a lovely weekend everyone :)

ETA: My MATB1 form came today, so hopefully I'll be able to meet with my Head within the next two weeks. Its also payday on Friday so fingers crossed I got my payrise!
  • I'm in work today, is relatively calm so I'm making a list of all the "essentials" if I'm feeling brave I'll add prices! Hope I win the lottery tonight, would make things much easier!!

    Hope everyone is well!

I've booked onto NCT classes following positive comments from people I know. They start TWO WEEKS TODAY which makes everything seem so much more real! It would be great if there was another set of twins in my group but from.talking to people who have done them (and never seen twins) it does seem unlikely.

I've started going through the bags and bags of baby clothes I've acquired (from Freecycle and friends); I can't believe how much I've got and had forgotten how adorable some of the little girly things are. It takes me ages to load the washing machine because I keep cooing over everything :-)
