Thanks for the New Look tip; I've been needing a few more maternity bits so have placed an order. Free next day delivery which is nice!
  • I also got a right bargain on New Look tonight after getting the email! I had already bought 3 dresses on ASOS Monday to try for a couple of Christmas parties coming up, with free delivery and free returns it was a no-brainer, plus I used my sisters student discount to give me an additional 20% off which I thought was great value.

Funny thing is, the three dresses I bought on ASOS were all New Look dresses, so as I was browsing the maternity sale I saw all 3 of the dresses I ordered from ASOS are in the New Look sale! I've now ordered the same 3 dresses (again, free delivery and free returns so no reason why not) and I'm going to send the whole ASOS order back once it arrives :p I also saw online an additional £10 off a £50 spend (enter code WINTER1) meaning I've got an even bigger bargain... My ASOS order for 3 dresses and 2 T-shirts was £63, but my New Look order with the same 3 dresses, 4 bras and 2 T-shirts came to £58, happy days :)
  • Missymoo re exercise - I do 30 lengths at pool once I week I used to do 65 dropped down to 50 when trying for a baby then dropped down to 30 when pregnant due to nsusea and tiredness. I dont think I will increase over 40 lengths though. I also walk to work 3 times a week 20mins there 20 mins back which I have continued. I find I am breathless quite a bit I think it's a general pregnancy thing, I went up our house stairs carrying our 2 year old today I was knacked!

  • Morning all,

thanks for the comments re: the bras, I think I'm going to stick to my usual this time around and just make sure that they fit well and are not poking in anywhere.

Princess Kate, I had a Oyster with DD1 and we think it is great, it folds nicely and has plenty of room underneath for bits and pieces whilst out. The option to change the colour pack or chose later when you know what you want is good too. Mothercare seem to have sales on these quite frequently so keep an eye out.

Danielley, we had a Nissan Juke while they were getting our Nissan Quashqai ready to collect, our pram (oyster) fitted in the boot but only just and there was very little room for any shopping. The Quashqai is much better.

Missymoo - re: exercise, with DD1 I was still going to the gym when I was 7 months ! nothing high impact, just cross trainer / cycling (till the tummy got in the way) and strength exercises, squats, lunges, upper body toning etc. I have to state here that I am in no way a gym bunny (struggle to get to a size 14, more likely a 16) but I had just splashed out on a course of 10 personal trainer sessions to try to help with some back and shoulder problems so I thought I might as well use them. I do think it helped. This time round I have done nothing ! I was doing couch to 5K and trying to loose weight when I got pregnant but after my mc in April I was a bit worried about the bouncing around and stopped as soon as I got my BFP. Like you, a bit worried about starting again now but think I should.

On my to do list today are book flu jab, 16 week midwife appointment, and sugar check to see if my Diabetes from last time is back (fingers crossed on that one, I don't want 24 weeks of restricted diet, it was hard enough doing the last 12 weeks !)

    Hope you are all OK.

    Hi all,

Sneaking in from the less than 12 weeks thread. Had scan yesterday and all looked good. I was on this thread earlier this year but sadly had a mmc at 16 weeks so still nervous although i know this is a different pregnancy. I also have a 3 and a half year old daughter. Was dated as between the 5th and 8th June.
  • Hi Ladies

Thought I'd finally get my butt over here from the other thread as we're now almost 17 weeks along!

Just a quick reminder for those who don't remember me - it is my wife (civil partner) that is preggers... I just happen to be Head of Research and Internet in our house that's all! Plus it gives me something productive to do regarding the pregnancy - DW is always very impressed when I quote things that are/should be happening to bump :D

The last few weeks have been pretty quiet since the 12W scan although DW is still being sick but not everyday... maybe one day a week she gets sick-free now! :rotfl: I'm still trying to remain positive for her that once we get to 20W it will stop (some family members were sick until 20W and then had great pregnancies!)

We bought a new (to us) car a couple of weeks ago as our Corsa just wasn't going to cut it with our 2 dogs, a baby and a buggy to transport. It also didn't have ISOFIX so I wasn't keen on just putting up for a short while as it would influence car seat choices... And lack of space would restrict out buggy choices.

I'm a keen VW fan and have campervans as my daily drive so decided to upgrade the missus to VAG (Volkswagen Audi Group - also including Seat and Skoda). I thought we would go for a VW Golf as her sis has one and DW likes it... but having spoken to a friend who is also into cars he suggested I look at the Seat Altea. I'd never even heard of it but once I saw it I knew it would be perfect. It's the size of a Golf Plus which gives it a huge boot without it being estate car sized (parking where we live is all on-street and very restricted so having a estate car would limit us to spots that have just been vacated by estate cars... and most people around here have small cars!) not being VW, a lot more comes as standard on it and upgrades more affordable so a lot of second hand vehicles have a lot of options on them.

For £5k (absolute top of our budget!) I managed to get one with with a huge spec and full leather interior. DW seems very happy with it and having initially been worried about going from a small Corsa to an 'as big as you can get without being an estate car' she's finding parking a doddle (parking sensors!) and loving the onboard gadgets that wouldn't normally turn her head! I think she's realised just how much better and safer this car is than the go-kart she used to drive! :D

So I guess now we have the wheels we can look at getting our bump a car seat and buggy...;)

  • Welcome to wendz86 and downhillfast!!! I've added you to the list. If/when you know your 20 week scan date I can add that too (oh, and downhillfast, I don't know your EDD so just guessed where you would be in the list!)

Downhillfast I've put your name in brackets as it's technically not you who's pregnant hope that's ok!!!! But lovely to have you here anyway! Yes, my non-sick days started being more frequent than my sick days when I was about 17 weeks so hopefully your DW will find it eases soon. Can definitely agree with the thumbs up for VAG group - the Seat make is brilliant value. Hope you find the search for a buggy as easy! :p

Wendz, hope you manage to start enjoying this pregnancy and the worry eases as it progresses. xxx

The brackets are fine... I understand that this thread is a very personal space for mums-to-be so feel it is important for me to be upfront with my position. I wouldn't want to come across as some internet weirdo!

As for the buggy... what a minefield!!! DW is very fussy aesthetically with prams and buggies (and other stuff!) so her opinion doesn't always fit in with my very practical approach to things... I'm still amazed that she hasn't found something on the new car not to like as it was pretty much me that decided on it even though it is her car! :rotfl:
