Pington, we would love to get one, but I haven't a clue as to if we will be able to afford it or not. Fingers crossed that we can though!

Just delurking to say we're not getting a 4d scan but seriously considering getting a private growth/doppler scan at the 30-32 week mark after reading articles/that Panorama (?) programme a month or so ago. £190 though
  • Missymoo - Just received my Maternity Exemption Card and letter. The only other thing worth noting is that the letter says that if "your child is born later than expected you may apply for an extension; in this case, please write to us enclosing a copy of your child's birth certificate". I guess if it's only a few days late it wouldn't be worth it - and I guess maximum would be 2 ish weeks? Just thought I'd mention it though!

  • Hi Pington :) I have a private scan scan booked this afternoon at 19 weeks today! It's just five minutes long for gender determination in 2D and 'sneak a peak' in 4D. Can't wait :)

My consultant did a Doppler scan at 31 weeks in my last pregnancy so I think she'll do/hope she'll do the same again this time.

Tilly_dreams - I am very frustrated for you. However you seem to have the right attitude focusing on the importance of the baby and I'm sure down the line there will be other opportunities and perhaps this way you won't feel obliged to rush back earlier than if you had got the new job.

I had a mini wobble yesterday; I felt movements for the first time last week which were wonderful, but they seem to have tailed off. I assumed it must be normal (as I'm only just 18 weeks) but then my mind went into overdrive and I convinced myself that something may be wrong. I text my midwife and she wasn't concerned, she said that at this point the baby is small and can change position quite easily to a place where movements aren't felt. I suppose it's better to be safe than sorry. I have my 20 week scan 2 weeks today so I hopefully I will feel better after that.

Hi Danielley, just wanted to thank you for your kind words about my job situation but also that I'm at exactly the same stage as you re movements! I think our due dates are only a few days apart aren't they? I'm 19 weeks today (which I'm counting as half way as my consultant says I'll be induced around 38 weeks). But anyway some days I'll feel maybe up to four definite kicks and wriggly feelings, and some days I won't feel anything I can be sure is baby. I'm trying really hard not to obsess about it.

I think Count the Kicks recommend monitoring baby's movements from 20 weeks onwards so that's the milestone to reach in my head before I start to worry. I don't know about you but I've felt baby on my left and right hand sides of my tummy so I kind of think he/she must have lots of room still to move about and there must be places it's easy and harder for me to feel. I guess that's similar to what your midwife said. I hope that's reassuring in some way!

I'll try and update later after my scan! X
  • Ahhh Aunty Pickle, hope the op goes ok. I'm guessing it's safe for baby otherwise they wouldn't risk it. Wishing you a speedy recovery!!

Boooooo the the job Tilly but yaaaaaaay for the scan! Very exciting! Hope baby plays ball and shows you their bits!! Looking forward to seeing an update this arvo.

Congrats on moving to the big girls thread Sulphate, Nicky and Estate Princess, I'm sure we'll all be joining you very soon!!

I don't think I felt movements with ds until around 23 weeks and I never felt very much. Its been on and off with this one, much more regular the last few days, mainly when I'm at work sat doing nothing so I think it very much depends on the baby, size and where it is in terms of movement. Think if have been in hospital every day with ds if I'd counted his kicks - don't think I ever had a proper kick or punch!!
  • Hello! So we're back home after the scan and we found out baby is a... girl!!!

It's funny we've been saying 'she' for weeks but I'm still really surprised! Although I think I'd have surprised either way which makes no sense!

The place was really good, it's in Nottingham so if anyone's local and wants a recommendation let me know! We've got four pictures printed out and then a disc with 15 photos on. I'm tempted to put a pic on the Facebook group but nearly everyone has real babies on there!

They said she's about the size of a barbie doll at 19 weeks and not much fatter than one either with skinny little arms and legs so that's why I can hardly feel anything yet. Makes sense!
  • Aw how lovely, congratulations Tilly!
  • Aw Tilly, that's lovely! So glad your lo co-operated!!!!!

  • Feeling very sleepy today, toddler has been ill for a couple of days so it's been hard work and dh has gone off to london for the night with friends so I am home alone. Thinking after I get the little guy to bed at 7pm I won't be far behind going to bed.

I keep getting asked if we will find out the sex and I don't think we will (we didn't with our first) but everyone around me asking me is tempting hehe those having
Their second, third child etc are you finding out ?
