  • Aww Missymoo, that sounds lovely! And you have more patience than me staying team yellow! Do you have to tell the sonographer before the scan that you don't want to know so that they don't give the game away? I forgot you were going on holiday so I thought you'd just gone quiet - hope you had a lovely time!

Pington has been posting about her twins so I just wondered if Carrot34 and Jammy are still around? You've both gone quiet but I hope all is well with you and your bumps!
  • Aw Missy that sounds amazing & so glad baby behaved and gave you the conformation that they're were kicks you were feeling. We're not finding out either & I have read that it can help in the end stages of labour, the excitement of finding out.

I've had more of what I think is movement today, feels like baby is doing somersaults!

I'm still suffering with awful headaches and so not sleeping well at all, been awake since 3am, phoned in sick to work today. I spoke to my mum who told me she thinks I should stay off work for the rest of the week to try & catch up on rest & shake off my bad head. I told OH this who said he agreed. Not sure why to do now, might just see how I sleep tonight & how I feel in the morning, I have a very responsible job in a large hospital so it's always scary trying to do my job if you're feeling rubbish yourself.

    Hope everyone is feeling ok!
  • Missy moo - re your excitement about finding out what sex baby is at birth, rather than medical staff announcing it you can request on your birth plan that your parter/husband/birthing partner announces it, a bit more special that way I guess.

I am sticking to my guns about not finding out sex of this baby just like we did with first. I do think it will be more special.

I had my vbac clinic appt yesterday which went ok, I told the doctor I would like a home water birth or hospital water birth he advised against both as they like to continuous monitor baby (which they can't do in water)as it may show signs that my scar is rupturing due to previous csection, risk is very low though but I think I will still be going for home water birth as my first option. I am on the facebook vbac support group which is amazing, I would suggest anyone who had a csection and trying for a vaginal birth this time around join.

The one thing I learnt from having my first baby is everything is your choice, I get really frustrated how medical staff talk to woman like they have no option and most of the time they do.

£59 sounds like a good price for scan, cheapest one I have seen here locally is £99 which I won't pay because I possibly may be opting for a doula.

Just found out my neighbour is due her second baby in May next year as well.

  • Thanks for the comments ladies :)

Tilly_dreams - I didn't congratulate you on your little pink bundle, amazing news!! As much as I would love to know, I do really want the surprise. I also love hearing people guessing and their reasons, some are so bizarre! OH and I plus most of our family think boy for some unknown reason so we're already calling baby 'he', but I'll be happy no matter what. I am immediately drawn to girls clothes though in the shops and have had to stop myself buying things! The boys clothes just aren't as cute, so you have a fun job ahead of you now :)

Princess kate -I'm sorry you've not been sleeping due to headaches. Have you seen your GP to see if there's anything you can take, either for the headaches or to help with sleep? It's such a pain only being allowed paracetamol, it never seems to be enough. Hopefully they settle down soon. My friend also said that the anticipation of finding out what their baby was is what helped her get through labour as she had a terrible experience, so any little thing like that has got to be a help!

jediquigley - that sounds like a lovely idea, although I don't think OH would get the words out! He reckons he won't cry or get emotional but I know better ;) It's important to remember that it is our own choice, as there are so many people who try to force opinions on to you but in the end its your decision and the hospital will support you no matter what. I hope you get the option you want.

The £59 scan is from BabyBond (Ultrasound-Direct) and it's called a Quick Assure. It's only available from 12-18 weeks so I just got in. It is a well-being check with 2d pics, we got about 10 of them! They have lots of centres around the country so it's worth checking their website, their prices range from £39 for a 10 min gender identification up to 22 weeks, a £59 basic 4d scan and then up to £119 for a 30 min 4d, so even that isn't ridiculously expensive. We will definitely be going for a 4d after Christmas :)

    Hi all

I am still around and reading but just not posting.

It feels like my holiday is so long ago now after getting back to work. It's been one emergency after another and seems never ending. I've even got to the point of counting down how many days left at work till I leave for mat leave (59 work days left if anyone is interested). I still have 4werks leave left to take before my mat leave which is why it's so soon.

I have been growing but still have felt a kick or anything which has been worrying me. I do think I feel them moving - kind of squirming feeling. Plus the other day when I looked down my belly was uneven - obviously to the left - so know they must be moving around and I just can't feel it. Today I'm feeling some pain in my left side which kind of feels like something might be pushing against something.

I have my next scan on Monday so crossing fingers all ok.

We will be finding out the sex of the babies. I'm looking forward to knowing which I didn't know if I would. But I've decided that as soon as we find out I'm going to buy something (anything) just to make it real.

princess Kate - I was experiencing awful headaches that never went away - I woke up with them and went to bed with them etc. doctor recommended a ct scan because of them but since we went on holiday I haven't had them. I think your mum is right - take the time - sleep whenever you can, be outdoors and relax. It may make all the difference.

On another note - I hate this time of year - Ive always (and still do) hate fireworks. I honestly want to hide under the bed everytime. Looks like I'm stuck indoors for the next week or so!
  • Thanks ladies, I listened to my mum, they're always right aren't they! I went to the GP who said I need to listen to by body, rest & signed me off work for a week, I wasn't expecting that, she also gave me my flu jab which I was actually really thankful for as I keep forgetting to get it done in work, kept worrying I'd get flu before I got round to having my jab. She said now one has ever genuinely thanked her for injecting them!

So I now have an unexpected week off work. I have done nothing today & I think that is the idea. I didn't wake until 6am this morning which is the best sleep I've had in weeks. Just going to take it easy, GP said I should find the headaches ease by around 20 weeks, so fingers crossed!
  • Hi guys,

    Hope you are all ok?

Thanks for all the lovely messages-I'm feeling a bit better thank you, swings and roundabouts, you know?

The scan was fab-we are team pink!!! Woohoo!!! I'm on the iPad, so I'll try and update the list later on.

She's a little monkey-the scan took a whole hour  she was bouncing around, and then hiding in my hip bone and had her hand over her heart when the scan lady was trying to look!

So, I'm a bit sore from all the prodding and poking!

Really excited now, and she has a little routine of waking up at bed time and having a good kick about!

  • hello people!
I'm home after my op on Monday. All went well apparently and, more importantly, baby is fine. Had a scan yesterday afternoon and baby was swimming around and I heard nice and strong heartbeat. :j

home sooner than expected 'cos I made such good progress! (either that or they needed the bed!)
I am completely knackered so, although reading I might not post very much for a while. OH is being lovely and wonderful.

  • So glad all went well Pickle & must have been so reassuring to see baby on the scan after the op. Rest up now, take care xx
  • Good to hear from you Carrot, glad you are doing well. Hope the scan goes well on Monday, let us know how you get on and what team you're on! The board seems very much pink doesn't it :) I've also been working out how long left, even though I still don't know when I'm finishing exactly. I'm counting in weeks though, 18 or 19 working weeks I think and it can't come soon enough :p

Enjoy your week off Princess kate, rest up and take it easy. Get the OH to do his fair share ;)

Excellent news Bubblepops, another pink!! It's great being able to feel baby moving now isn't it? I was laying in bed last night and baby seemed to be having a party, it was going mad! OH hadn't come to bed yet so I was just laying there with my hand pressed down to see if I could feel it by touch but it was hard to tell, so hopefully OH joins me at a reasonable hour so he can have a feel :) Is that your lot now for the NHS scans? Will you be going for a private one?

Great to see you back Aunty-Pickle, I'm so pleased everything went well with your operation and that baby is fine too, really lovely to hear. Rest up and we'll hopefully hear from you soon x
