How clumsy I have become. I never realised but I sm constantly dropping thing. Not good sign for wen baby arrives. Usually I'm not clumsy at all! But I'm knocking over drink, today I dropped a wedding card 7 times before when of my friends agreed to carry it for me!
  • My brain just doesn't work like it used to! Sickness & tiredness I kind of expected, both of which I've suffered from but seem to be easing now. My brain however, oh dear, sometime I just give up speaking as I can't think of any of the words! Very frustrating, I keep forgetting why I've gone upstairs and driving past where I was meant to be driving to! Everyone tells me it's only going to get worse too!

Baby brain is the worst for me; my brain seems totally addled! I can't process information or think things through at work in the same way I used to, my concentration is shot, I keep forgetting why I've walked into a room and even the simplest words vanish from my brain. I find it incredibly frustrating!

    Hello all,

sounds like there has been a lot going on! Congrats on all the good news from scans - always such a relief! Hope those of you not feeling well have managed to speak to midwives and are ok!

Great bargains on the twin stuff pington especially the twin icandy pram. We've started buying a few things now I'm past 20 weeks although no big purchases yet - think we are decided on the pram and car seat although it does cost a ridiculous amount of money! Unless anyone has any suggestions on a decent cheaper pram/travel system? We are still stuck on nursery furniture though, the proper sets from places like mothercare seems poor quality for the price, I was impressed with the ikea pax wardrobe range and you get to design the number and height of shelves/rails/drawers but the cots don't come in oak which is what we would like....decisions decisions!

I had a bit more energy between about 16-20 weeks but now bump is feeling a bit heavier and I'm not sleeping so well so the tiredness is back! I'm also still doing on call at work which can mean potentially 24 hour shifts although more usually about 10-15 hours. I've been busy the last 2 weekends since getting back off hols so think its all just catching up with me - no plans next weekend and can't wait for 5pm on friday already - gonna sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep so much! But on the plus side feeling a lot more movement now - still only light taps but feel it several times throughout the day - makes me smile every time! Poor hubby is disappointed he can't feel anything yet but hopefully soon!

  • quick question....
if using a travel cot for overnight stays at the in-laws etc, do we need to buy a "proper" night-time mattress for it?

  • Not sure pickle but When reading I've seen quite a few carry cots which come with pushchairs/travel systems are suitable for overnight sleeping, although I guess it would depend how old the baby was.
  • thanks Princess Kate, I know my parents used a travel-cot for my nephews/nieces from newborn to young toddler age ish so baby's parents didn't have to lug around loads of baby stuff when they went to visit but I can't remember if there was an extra mattress in it.

Pickle I never used an extra mattress but did gave a folded blanket underneath for ds but that was 6 years ago!

Scan day for me! Hopefully get an actual photo of baby today as this will be my 5th scan and we have had such an awkward baby had no pics and trouble taking measurements! Definitely finding out pink or blue if we can! Will update you all later! X

So I'm sat writing this in the waiting area for a walk-in clinic :( I think I've got a urine infection, pharmacy wouldn't give anything and I can't get in at my doctors anytime soon.

In other news, we've found out that our friends are also expecting a baby (their second) with a due date just 4 days after me! They announced it on Facebook, whilst we were working our way round and telling everyone personally, but I feel quite strange about the fact we are due together. Whilst I'm happy for them, I also feel like they've stolen our special moment! Am I harsh for saying that? I just feel like our bubble has not quite burst but it's definitely deflated!

    Hi Missy,

I know you have posted since to say you are more relaxed about your friends also having a baby at the same time, but I just wanted to say that you are not alone in feeling a bit miffed at not being the only one in your circle of friends to be pregnant!

We have been trying to conceive for over 2 yrs and have finally got our little miracle through IVF and now it seems that everyman and his dog is having a baby! 2 of my friends are due the day after me! 2 of my husbands friends are also having a baby. My bosses has just announced his wife is pregnant again very soon after their first and because of this she will be having a planned C-section. Although she is a couple of weeks behind me, we have both joked that we will end up giving birth the same day as the usually do planned C-sections early.

To be honest it was a bit disappointing at first, it was actually my husband who first said 'why can't we be the only ones - we've waited so long' but now we find it quite funny when another pregnancy is announced.. It feels like a real baby boom at the moment!

I do have concerns that I will be mithered on my Mat Leave by people wanting to do Mummy things.... I know that will be nice occasionally, but I do quite like my own space and I am not great at saying no to people.

Also I am a bit worried about comparisons .i.e. "What? She is isn't sitting up yet? Well our baby has been sitting up for 3 weeks!" And finally on a very practical note, if we really are in a baby boom, I worry about midwife availability when I'm in labour, nursery place when I go back to work and eventually (5yrs down the line) school places!!

I think I am definitely turning into a Mumzilla!

On a separate note, I'm 14+4 am finally starting to feel normal after being very bloated since wk 3 of the pregnancy. In fact I was thinking this morning, if it wasn't for my rapidly expanding waist, I no longer feel any different, whereas around weeks 7-11 I couldn't believe how 'unusual' I felt!
