Welllll still team yellow! Naughty baby had legs firmly crossed but we did at least get pics this time!
All is well and can't believe how advanced scans are now in comparison to 6 years ago! She pointed out kidneys, diaphragm and all sorts when all I saw were blobs!
Back in 2 weeks for a more detailed scan of heart as baby wasn't cooperative so hoping for an answer on sex but not getting my hopes up! This baby is very naughty already! X

Congratulations on your scan Legendmum - I hope baby is a bit better behaved next time! I've got a feeling that we may have a similar experience after the last time :p I'm already thinking mine is a boy because it wasn't co-operating, I've even been calling it 'he' and people think I've found out already! I will apologise profusely to baby if 'he' turns out to be a girl :o

    Hi Missy,
I do have concerns that I will be mithered on my Mat Leave by people wanting to do Mummy things.... I know that will be nice occasionally, but I do quite like my own space and I am not great at saying no to people.

Also I am a bit worried about comparisons .i.e. "What? She is isn't sitting up yet? Well our baby has been sitting up for 3 weeks!" And finally on a very practical note, if we really are in a baby boom, I worry about midwife availability when I'm in labour, nursery place when I go back to work and eventually (5yrs down the line) school places!!

I feel the same here danielley, particularly about the comparisons, and they'll come not just from us as parents but our friends, family etc. I think I already mentioned before that my hubby was already comparing our scan pics! But I'll just try and focus on the positives - I may feel closer to her to talk about her experiences last time, and it will be interesting to hear how her pregnancy is going. She has been very ill apparently. Oh and they do know about us now, and I received a nice congratulatory text :)

On a separate note, I'm 14+4 am finally starting to feel normal after being very bloated since wk 3 of the pregnancy. In fact I was thinking this morning, if it wasn't for my rapidly expanding waist, I no longer feel any different, whereas around weeks 7-11 I couldn't believe how 'unusual' I felt!

Again, I feel the same! I'm 13+6 so a bit behind you, but I was thinking just over the weekend that I've felt no twinges or any feelings whatsoever when I always had before. I then of course did the worrier thing and linking it to the fact that I've been taking antibiotics, but then I think I felt a little twinge earlier. I'm seeing my midwife on Weds so hopefully she can put my mind at ease a bit more.
  • Congrats on scans, and hope the poorly peeps are feeling better!!

Been a bit rubbish at posting, but am finished work for good now, so should have a bit more time now.

Found out today I'm going to be consultant led (I think?) due to my mental health diagnoses. Not entirely happy, as I've worked so hard at them, and it feels a bit like a backwards step, but OH seems to feel it's more for support, so we'll see.

Got to listen to bumps' heartbeat, which was a plus. Think we both nearly cried!

On the subject of unusual/unexpected 'side effects' - Big Macs.

Been a strict vegetarian over half my life, and they're currently all I want to eat.

Oh-and leaky nips. That was tonight's unexpected surprise. :rotfl:

    Hope everyone is ok.

    Xx

Hey bubblepops - does it sound possible that the NHS is actually trying to be helpful by having you known to the consultant in case of problems instead of knee jerk reaction in the event of something happening? Contraversial...

BTW I had leaky nips since about week 18 ish and from 37 weeks was told I was allowed to express colostrum. This means if we have feeding problems further down the line there will be a little store to help us out!

I have received my 20 weeks scan appointment. It will be 24th November. I will then see the consultant for the first time straight after. Its good to know dates of appointments in advanced after I found out about my 10 week booking in appointment in the morning of the day of the meeting.

Bubblepops, try not to think of consultant led care as being a step back with regard to your mental health diagnosis; instead think of it as a positive thing. The more support you get, whatever the reason for it, the better! I'm consultant led due to having twins but I do feel lucky about the extra care that gives me. Try to see it as a bonus, despite its origins :)
  • Hi!
Some of you will know that at my 12 week scan (where I was dated at 10+6) they also discovered a large mass (9x9x9cm) and I had an appointment with a Consultant today (being 12+6) to discuss it.

So, the good news is - it's not cancer!!! :j

There is no real bad news... it's still there! :p They are planning on conservative management which basically means extra monitoring. Consultant thinks it likely that I will end up being booked for an elective c-section as it is squashing the cervix/vagina - but there is no risk to baby who looked perfectly happy wriggling around (we were given a pic!!) AND we heard the heart beat :T.

So, I am having another scan on 28th October when I will be 15+5 - just to check that it hasn't grown.

Feeling reassured and, as much as a c-section kind of wasn't on my radar, if that's best all round then I'm not going to argue!!!!

Thanks lilmiss-I think it is them being proactive and supportive-it's just so unusual, I'm not sure what to make of it!!
    And yeah-weird, hey?! ;)

Thanks pington- that makes a lot of sense too.
I'm trying to see the positives-part of my condition is the whole catastrophic thinking thing, so by the time we'd left the hospital, in my mind I was unfit mother, social services, the whole shebang! :o now I've calmed down, I do think it's a supportive thing.

Plus-I get two extra scans-not gonna complain about that!!

Pickle-that's fantastic news, I'm so pleased. Hopefully this means you can focus on enjoying your pregnancy without too much additional worry, now? Sorry about the c-section, but better that you're both ok.

    Hugs to all x

Eesh-so glad the joy of this is not just me. And here's me thinking my dignity may just last a little longer :rotfl:
