Good luck Lotti
Congrats on team blue Splank
About the "feeling cheated". I discovered shortly after I found out I was pregnant that my ex's wife is pregnant too, although she is a bit further along than me (no idea how much). We don't keep in touch but I'm FB friends with his sister and another mutual friend. I should probably delete them because they are huge gossipers and I fully expect them to pass on everything pregnancy/baby related that I say, because that's the kind of people they are :rotfl:
And if ex and his wife feel cheated... oh well :rotfl:
I'm not close to anyone else who has also recently announced a pregnancy... yet!0 -
Congratulations for moving up Lotti
And congratulations on your boy news SplanK!
Carrot, I'm glad you're feeling better now, but I do hope you manage to talk to someone about it. I would be worried that I had another 'moment' when on my own! Same to you too Always, I'm glad you've been feeling better but I would still be tempted to go and get the once over to be on the safe side.
Thanks for the replies and concern ladiesLeukocytes were found in urine sample which could signal an infection, but then apparently as pregnant ladies we naturally produce more anyways. Because of the other symptoms I had though, I got prescribed Cefalexin and last night I felt so much better already after just 2 tablets! I was a bit worried about taking antibiotics but I read about them online and it seems its a common prescribed drug in pregnancy. I'll see how I feel in a few days though as he said I don't have to finish the whole course.
I definitely recommend walk-in centres if you struggle getting in at your doctors. I was seen by a triage nurse just 5 mins after arriving, then had to wait half hour for a doctor to make the prescription. I was expecting to be in a lot longer than that so I was pleasantly surprised, and it meant I got my prescription that day instead of having til the next day and then facing the risk that I still might not get an appointment. They also have urgent care centres and the lady on the desk told me that if I have trouble during my pregnancy (or any time) to ring 111 if out of hours and they'll direct you to your nearest centre to get in straight away.
As for my thoughts about a friend announcing their pregnancy and stealing our thunder... I think I was just having what my hubby calls a 'Mumzilla' momentWe're not particularly close in that we meet up independently - she is the gf of hubby's friend so we only really meet up when meeting together as couples - but perhaps this will give us a reason to meet up and make more of a friendship between the two of us rather than just the hubby's wives! I think, similar to you Carrot, that because we know that their first baby was an 'accident' whom they obviously love dearly now, and we have strong suspicions that this pregnancy is the same, that the fact ours was planned and took us quite a while that it all felt a bit odd. But hopefully I'm over it
I saw some of my other friends last night who are ridiculously excited about my pregnancy so I'll still get my own little moments too whilst also being able to share others
Thanks again ladies, this is why I love this thread - you are the voice of reason!0 -
Glad you're already starting to feel better missy. I'm assuming you're in England? I'm in Wales & we don't have any walk in centres. I'm lucky that my Doctors have open surgery every day, so you may be in for a wait but if you need to be seen that day, (as long as it's the morning!) then you can be.0

That is so sweet!
There's another one on FB called 'The Miracle of Life' (I don't know how to post a linkhas anyone seen that? It's a computer generated video showing the process from fertilisation to birth which makes for interesting watching if you have a spare 10 minutes!
And then hubby and I watched a programme on Discovery the other day called 'Curiosity: How does life begin?' which was also great, showing how the baby's life begins and its development. They also did an experiment where they played music to the baby in the womb and using a 4d scan they watched the baby's reaction. They hated hip hop but loved slower classical music with a similar rhythm to the mother's heartbeat. It was so funny watching them squirm and frown to the hip hop but then chilled right down when the classical was played!0 -
Morning all
I'm 15 weeks today, yay!
I also can't get back to sleep as I got up for a wee and there was a big spider in the bathroom. I killed it myself (with only a couple of screams!) but my heart is racing - good job no ones checking my blood pressure this morning!
Missy Moo - re your husbands friends girlfriend being pregnant and worrying about comparisons - last time I was pregnant one of the nicest things anyone said to me was that although millions/billions of people have had babies before no one has ever had this baby, your baby, before so they are special and unique for that reason.
Slightly different situation I know but I was getting really annoyed with people telling me what to do. I remember one friend being really insistent that I couldn't find out the gender cos I'd ruin the surprise, and my SIL's mum telling me whatever I do don't dress the baby in yellow cos it'll look awful. Grrr.
I'm the same re not Facebook announcing and just telling people when I see them. I've not even made a special effort to see anyone though as it just doesn't feel like anyone else's business at the mo! I'm sure I will mention something on Facebook eventually though as I don't want to get to March then just go 'surprise here's my baby!' - although that could be fun
Hope you're feeling better with your infection today and everyone has a lovely relaxing weekend x0 -
I'm the same Tilly - I actually love that only a few people know about the pregnancy and they are the people we've chosen to tell (with the exception of my mums friends, because she's a proud nanny already and wants to tell everyone she meets!
) To start with it was a bit awkward when out with a group and we felt it too early to tell some people and only those closest to us knew, but now because we've had the all clear at 13 weeks we'll be telling people as we see them, but we're not going out of our way to do it anymore, those who deserved the effort have had it already
There are also certain people who will not actually find out at all until they make the effort to come to us (my thinking is this will be never) but that's another story for another day
And that's another reason why I'm determined to hold off from FB for as long as possible, but yes I'm sure there will come a time when all will be revealed. My target is to last up to Christmas at least... I'll be 25 weeks then, eeeek!
Have a lovely weekend everyone! Make the most of any sunshine we have today as apparently Autumn is meant to be well and truly on its way!0 -
Sorry I've not posted a lot, however I had my 20 weeks scan yesterday and all seemed well, we stayed team yellow too
Compared to when I had my little girl 4 years ago, This pregnancy (touch wood) has been easy, no constant sickness, all tests have come back normal!
I feel lucky this time that I have friends due around the same time, hopefully a few get togethers and mothers meetings with people I already know because mother and baby groups aren't really my thing!
Now would it be considered too early to get my pram(s) out of the loft and give them a steam clean and a check over since I've nothing to buy!0 -
Hi everyone!
Just wondered what things people were experiencing that they hadn't expected with pregnancy...
(I had expected the nausea/sickness and the "hormone" thing - although perhaps not their specific effects!!!)
The fatigue is really weird and I hadn't realised how completely all-encompassin/consuming it would feel. Just getting to 7.30pm and wanting to go to bed - but then not being able to get comfortable to sleep!!
I can't believe how hard it is to make a simple decision! I used to be so decisive and now it's... ummm, I don't know.... I don't mind....
Also, I am loving BK whopper meals! I could happily live on them everyday! (It's a shame - or is it a good thing?! - that the nearest one is about 20 miles away so not covenient at all!) :rotfl:Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock0
