  • Afternoon,
I agree Carrot and Always Alone, you should at least call your midwife as it is always better to be safe than sorry.

With the fainting, so far I have only felt faint once and that was the day we found out but we were in a factory for a tour and I just got overheated. I do, however, have a history of fainting and have done so on many occasions both seated and standing since I was about 5. My blood pressure was at the low end of normal when the midwife checked and OH & work are on standby in case I do feel faint. I can usually spot the signs but am hoping that the next 20 weeks will be uneventful. Even with my history I will still ring my midwife/hospital if I do faint.

Sorry that turned into an essay/lecture didn't it!

I think I'm feeling some kicks but am still not sure, does anyone else have an anterior placenta? When did you first feel kicks that you were certain were kicks?
    xx

Tilly thank you, it is my mum's brother who is ill and all that side of the family live oop north (we live in the south) so we aren't seeing as much of them as we'd like but he is surrounded up there by his children, grandchildren and other family members etc which is really nice for him at least.

Aunty Pickle congratulations and welcome :) Sorry to hear about your mass though, but at least they are happy to monitor it, I hope it's nothing nasty.

Milly I ended up with 2 Bounty packs - was given one by the GP surgery and the other by my MW at booking appt at 7 weeks. I think the only things I didn't throw away were info on screening tests, childhood illnesses and the free decaf teabag :rotfl:The rest was vouchers for random things and other rubbish that I knew I'd never use. I think it must depend on the area though as I've heard of other ladies getting more useful things. I didn't bother collecting the second pack from Boots or wherever you're supposed to go.

Estate princess I have an anterior placenta as well and started feeling flutters at around the 19+4 mark, I was having a lie in at the time. They are a bit more pronounced now. I generally only feel them if I'm sitting/lying down/not doing much (and even then not very frequent) which apparently is normal.

    21w :)
  • So I'm sat writing this in the waiting area for a walk-in clinic :( I think I've got a urine infection, pharmacy wouldn't give anything and I can't get in at my doctors anytime soon.

In other news, we've found out that our friends are also expecting a baby (their second) with a due date just 4 days after me! They announced it on Facebook, whilst we were working our way round and telling everyone personally, but I feel quite strange about the fact we are due together. Whilst I'm happy for them, I also feel like they've stolen our special moment! Am I harsh for saying that? They don't actually know we're pregnant yet as we hadn't got round to seeing them, and now more than before I really don't want to do the whole Facebook thing just because they did. OH was already comparing our scan photos and I just have this feeling like this is what the rest of my pregnancy and even my child's life will be like, a constant comparison. I'm sure I'll get over this once I've actually seen them, but for now I just feel like our bubble has not quite burst but it's definitely deflated!
  • Aww missymoo I hope you get seen and sorted asap.

One of my best friends is due just over a month after me and my niece's mum is due about 4 weeks after me. I can understand why it may feel like that but you can use it to your advantage. I've been able to chat to them about how I'm feeling, what we're thinking of buying etc and it means I'm not just moaning to OH - I'm sort of sharing the moaning around between here and them iyswim? I was glad to have someone I'm close to going through the same thing at the same time.

Thanks Sulphate, I feel what I think is movement when I'm at my desk and after dinner at home usually. I think I'm just being impatient and wanting the Big Kicks although I'm sure that when I'm being kicked in the ribs later on I'll change my mind!!!:rotfl:

The wife had her 20w scan today and found out we are have another boy. It must have been a quiet day today as the sonographer took his time and gave us plenty of time to absorb what we were watching and explained everything.

As for the boy, well, that wasn't totally unexpected as it seems our family seems to be strong in that area with me being 1 of 3, my brother had a little boy last year, my cousin had a boy, we already have a boy....!

Happy to report that so far everything is going well and measurements came back 'as expected'.

    :)
  • Thanks for the kind words ladies. Thankfully no more bleeding but still have twinges. Think I'm gonna see how I go for the nxt few days esp as the bleeding has stopped and it's more twinges than cramps. I've discovered I definitely need some new maternity trousers tho, I was sat in the office with my trousers unbuttoned! Still more fat than bump tho.

I'm sorry I haven't read back; just about to do that now but hope everyone's ok and hello to the newbies!
  • missy I got told our best friends are expecting and due 2 weeks after us, their second baby and I'm really happy we have people close to us going through it aswell for support :) just got back from hospital appointment where they've told me I'm not immune to rubella so I've gotta be really careful to not come into contact with it till April now. Hi Missymoo

I completely understand what you're saying and have had something similar. My cousin is due a week before I am and hubby's work colleague is 2 weeks before me. One saving grace though is my cousin is in Oz so no comparisons will be done however she is one that put it on facebook, we didn't as hubby didn't want everyone knowing he preferred to share the news in person, she's got gestational diabetes and was diagnosed at the same time I was etc. With the work colleague I don't think she'd be pregnant if her and my hubby hadn't been discussing it as she'd been using lube and didn't realise that it could hinder getting pregnant.

Your baby is going to be special no matter what, not just to you but to your family and your friends and just remember that at least you'll have someone that you can visit during maternity leave as you'll both be off at the same time and a ready made playmate for your LO.

I have two friends pregnant at the moment and they're only a couple of weeks apart too so although I initially had a 'it's my time to shine' I'm also happy that I'll have a couple of people to harass if I need too :rotfl:

And after that essay I'll go back to lurking lol

    Hi all,

missy - how are you? Have you an infection? Hope you feel better soon.

I understand feeling "cheated" by others news. Our closest friends told us last weekend that they are pregnant with their second. I'm happy for them but my immediate thought was "no - this is my time - you've had yours already". Then I got over it and happy for them. I think it's more to do with how long it took us to fall pregnant and for them they seem to have fallen at the first try both times (yes we are that close that we know this level of detail).
But then I also get the special part of having twins - noone has taken that from me yet.

Thanks for everyone's messages after my "moment" on Tuesday. I haven't ended up speaking to anyone but not through want of trying. On Wednesday I couldn't call midwife as didn't have number with me at work and when I called number GP gave me it just rang out. Then yesterday my day was awful and everytime I tried to call I had another work emergency come up.

But I have "popped" this week (well last 3days) so think they are growing. Sadly a bit of a B but I'll take it. I think I'm going to get huge!

Happy Friday all and I hope you have lovely weekends planned.
