Mrs_T_M - I'm so pleased that everything went well today. I'm intrigued about the Facebook groups - are they private though? I'm just a bit apprehensive because I've not told anyone else other than family and close friends so I don't want things to be popping up on my feed saying I'm part of a Pregnancy group :p
Sounds like a lovely appointment Mrs TM!! I must ask tho, what are these Facebook groups you mention and how does one gain entry?! I'd love to join the fb gang too!! :D
I'm interested in the Facebook groups too, how do we find them & are they private, Facebook is awful for telling everyone every single thing you like or comment on these days. Nice to see more graduates from the previous board & some lovely appointments! Can't wait to hear the babies heartbeat & its a really good idea about recording it! Will it likely be at my 15 week midwife appointment?

The groups are private and secret, nothing posted there can even be searched for via regular FB. I'll ask who you need to PM to be invited, and then you'll just need to PM them with the e-mail address you are on FB with for them to add you. I'm on two, because I was on the 2013-2014 one when I was pregnant with Dale, but there is one for 2014-2015. :)

I've been chatting away to the ladies on the FB groups, and we still haven't made the announcement on FB yet. Not long to go now though! :j I love the groups being secret.

I just had my '16 week' appointment, even though I'm 19 weeks tomorrow. Poor midwives are booked solid! I made my 25 week appointment 3 weeks ago now. Most midwives won't check with the doppler until 16 weeks, just because the heart is so tiny (and they are squirmy little things!), and if they can't find it right off, they don't want to worry you.

*Edited to add: to join the FB group for this year and next year, please PM time2deal with the fact that you're wanting to join it and what your e-mail address is that you use for FB. She is expecting some of you to join, but she does have a little one, so please be patient with her. :)

  • Thanks Mrs TM! Poor time2deal will be inundated this evening!! I'm still a member of the very first (I think!) fb group group from when I had ds. Some of our babies have turned 3 and it's been amazing to watch them all grow and progress from newborns!

As for the buying question, I was just being nosey!! We won't have to buy anything as we have everything still from ds, although I'd like a new Moses basket as ours was handed down about 4 times and is no longer safe!! As we'll be finding out the sex, if we're blue we really have noting at all to buy and if we're team pink we probably will go a little mad!!

I am actually online on the computer for once - so if you request now you'll get a faster response. As Mrs_T_M says I am only allowed on from time to time when the baby decides he will permit it. :)

Nicky Noo Na thanks for the heads up about the new vista, although if it's going to be too late for February it's probably a good thing if it's more expensive!

milly welcome to the thread, hope your scan goes well tomorrow :) And how nice that you won't need to buy much by the sound of it!

Tilly sorry to hear about your husband's granddad :( My uncle has terminal cancer and I found it quite difficult to share happy news under the circumstances but I think they were all happy and quite grateful to have something to look forward to. I started feeling movements about a week ago.

Bubblepops hope your meeting goes well tomorrow. How nice you can stay home until after baby arrives :)

Mrs TM glad to hear about your midwife appt and recording the heartbeat - what a good idea! I would also like to know about the Facebook group please :) edit: thank you!

Always alone I confess I bought a pretty (and expensive!) picture for the nursery when I was about 10 weeks. I bought a couple of packs of reduced babygrows/bodysuits/vests (whatever people call them!) after that but only started really buying after 20 week scan which was last week. We aren't doing much nursery decorating - the room has been used for storage mainly so there were marks on the walls etc so my husband repainted it white. I'm not very good with decorating/interior design etc so I'd be interested to see what everyone else is doing.

Estateprincess hope your scan goes well tomorrow :)

Princess kate About hearing the heartbeat I have noticed it seems to vary by area and midwife. When I went for my 16w appt (at 18w) my midwife said that they only listen to the heartbeat if asked and if the mum hasn't felt movement. I hadn't felt anything by then so I asked her to. I think the main worry about it is if they can't find the heartbeat it would cause worry which would be unnecessary if everything is fine.

Shopping trip went well yesterday, bought a few babygrows, room thermometer, little coat etc mainly from Tesco who also had 25% off. Don't want to buy any more clothes now if we are apparently going to be given loads of stuff. Work colleague has invited me round her house at some point in the next couple of weeks to look at what she has, one friend has offered a crib and another has loads of stuff too apparently. Assuming all this comes to fruition I don't think we will buy a cot until much later, if baby isn't going to go in it for 6 months (it wouldn't fit in our bedroom hence need for crib).

I think we are decided on the uppababy vista but one thing I didn't realise is that if you want the compatible car seat you have to buy the base too! Suddenly a car seat is a big expense. (My mum wants to buy the vista.)

    20+4 :)

I've just PM'd you, thanks very much :)

For those asking about buying things, I've only bought little things like a few bodysuits, sleepsuits and muslin cloths which were on offer, plus I bought a Tommee Tippee bottle set and microwave steriliser in Aldi when they had their baby event and they were so much cheaper than in any other shop. Most of the other bits I've got and started to stock up on like baby wipes and nappies were bought with vouchers like Princess kate also has. Whilst I've had a browse for the big things, I don't think I'll commit to buy those until a bit later on. I don't want to buy too much too soon and have nothing left to look forward to later on :p
  • Hi everyone can I be added to the list when it's updated please? Due on 14th April 2015 so officially 12 weeks today :) xxx
    Debt free finally :j

  • well the scan went amazingly. It now feels real. I do actually have a baby growing inside me! Who knew!

Ive lots of photos, she said it was very clear and bladder nicely full. Baby is a wriggler and was constantly moving its legs, waving and saluting.

They measured me at 12+6 which is 4 days further along than dated so my new due date is 8th April 2015.

We have our plans to tell parents on Friday and some friends on Saturday and then as and when we see other people, Still not decided on when to tell work. But my waistline is telling me I wont have too long before they start to guess, if they haven't already.

Hope you guys are all doing well!
  • Your scan sounds great milly & now you have the same due date as me!

    Afternoon Everyone,

Glad your scan went well millysg1, it does start to feel more real when you see them on the screen.

We had our 20 week scan today and everything looks all ok but we have to have a rescan as The Bean wouldn't lie in the correct place for the lady to see the heart clearly. She said there is nothing to worry about she just simply couldn't get the pictures she needed! Bean is measuring almost spot on for dates, within a couple of days and she said they have a tolerance of 7-10 days so we're almost perfect!

I have also been told I have an anterior placenta. I sort of expected this as I haven't felt a lot of movement yet and what I have felt has been quite feint.

We're both over the moon and starting to get really excited now :T

Great news about everyone's scans :)

It's making me really excited about my 20 week scan, which will be in three weeks. I just hope T1 and T2 cooperate!
