And for those asking about buying things, we have acquired a lot of bargains but haven't bought anything full price yet. Bargains include freebies from friends/Freecycle, some cheap second hand purchases and some new items from the Kiddicare closing down sale.

We have two car seat bases and a cot (kiddicare closing down sale) but no car seats or cot mattresses yet. We'll be buying those new so there's no rush to get them when a second hand bargain comes up.

We got an iCandy twin buggy with carry cots, car seat attachments, buggy seats etc from a girl I know who had twins and was selling it for a great price.

We also have a pair of Moses baskets, a changing table, a second cot, a few bouncer chair/play mat things, LOADS of baby clothes (3 bin bags full from Freecycle!), a behind ear thermometer (bought cheap in the Boots factory shop), some waterproof sheets, a baby bath, sling, monitor, changing mat...loads of things. Having twins we want to be as prepared as possible and get as much as we can second hand, cheap or free.

We are in the middle of renovating our entire house at the moment and the current bathroom is going to become the babies' room. Work has started to install the new bathroom in a different room so hopefully it won't be too long until we can rip out the old one and start making the room into a nursery :)
  • Well, Ive just told work! Hadnt meant to but had an ad hoc discussion with my line manager and my boss about the future and job roles (that job im considering applying for came up) and as they were being so honest with me I felt I should fess up! They were great and congratulated me and didn't make me feel at all bad. I didn't know when id next get an opportunity to sit down with the two of them alone so thought now ive had scan, just to tell them. And glad I did.
  • Aww, Mrs_T_M that sounds like a fantastic appointment!! :T

Hah, Tilly-the added bonus of freezer aisles is there's food there, too!! :rotfl:

I'm not sure missymoo-mine was an emergency appointment with my GP as I'd had bleeding and cramping-I'm not sure what the deal is with midwives?

Can I ask you guys a question? We have electronic notes here, so I don't have any information, scans, appointments, anything other than my next appointment. It seems that lots of you have 16week midwife appointments-is that a standard thing? I only have one with a consultant, I don't see the midwives for the second time until the middle of November? It seems so far away?

I think I've researched everything, but actually none the wiser about what to get, haha!! :rotfl:

We've bought little outfits, etc, when I've seen something cute, and my mom and dad are buying us a cot bed, which arrived at their house today (we got it early as there was £50 off in mothercare).

I did buy a Moses basket on Saturday in asda-it was beautiful and half the price of mothercare. Given the redundancy situation we've decide we need to get as much as we can whilst we have the money.

Once we've had the 20 week scan and my redundancy money has gone in (about the same time), then I think we will probably try and get the rest of the bare essentials; if I'm not thoroughly organised I completely freak out. ;)

:j for all the scan appointments that have gone so well!! Sorry, can't remember all the names!!

    Xx

I hope this is clear enough for you to see, this is the appointments page in my notes and the approximate weeks when they are 'due.' I love having paper notes, but I learned last time (a bit too late) that you do not get a copy without paying for it from PALS once you have the baby, even if it's early! So, for anyone who wants a copy of their notes to keep, make a copy and keep updating it after every appointment!

  • Evening ladies.

All the scans and updates sound wonderful.

pington I'm so impressed with all your bargains and donations. We have nothing so far and decided we would wait till after the 20 week scan.

I had a really bizarre and scary event tonight. I was out to dinner with my OH and parents of my oldest friend (over from oz to visit). At dinner I started to come over hot, sweaty and clammy. All at table were saying I looked like I lost colour and should go outside but I knew I couldn't as didn't feel able to walk. Next thing I know, I wake up lying down. I woke up and sat up. Notice that I had been sick on table. OH explained what happened as I was unconscious - I had lowered my head to the table and been sick on the way down. They then lay me down on the bench and I woke up.

It's never happened to me before and I have no recollection of it at all. I was apparantly out for only 10seconds. I feel absolutely fine now.

It just seems so weird to have passed out (and been sick) whilst seated.

I hope nothing's wrong. I felt fine all day so can't think what it was.

Has anyone had anything like this before?
  • Oh no Carrot, hope you're ok now, take it easy! I've not had anything like that, had you eaten? Maybe it was dropping sugar levels or bp?

My sister had that. She ended up have low blood pressure and would randomly pass out/get very light headed/feel very sick. I would defiantly inform your MW.

Poor you, Carrot! It sounds a lot like what I get if I stand up/walk around for too long, but I've never had the vomiting or full passing out. I'd make a call to your midwife if I were you.

My assumption has always been that it is either blood sugar or blood pressure related. If I start to feel like that I lie down, drink a glass of water and try to eat something (Lucozade tablet if nothing else). This has worked so far for me. You do need to be careful; I think these twin beans of ours do have quite an impact from an early stage!

I've also considered buying a blood pressure monitor and checking my BP when I start to feel like that, so I can start to work out what is causing it.
  • Thanks mrsT, that's really helpful. Now I know what I should be having, haha!!

Oh no, carrot, that sounds horrible :( glad you're ok now xx
