Midwife appointment this morning went wonderfully! Was able to not only hear the heartbeat, but I have a recording of it too. She and I keep referring to baby as 'she' and the mw said that she normally doesn't have a feeling as to what a baby is, but she really thinks ours is a girl. I hope so! I mean, we will be happy either way, but we have a girls name picked out, we don't have a boys name picked out. Hopefully we will know in 9 more days!
Baby kept squirming away from and kicking the Doppler, so much so that you can hear it on the recording and the mw was surprised at how much baby was already wiggling!
I am so excited!
I've uploaded a sound clip of the doppler recording on both of the FB groups, so anyone on there can take a listen!0 -
And also, if you get through to interview stage, it is always good to practice your interviewing skills even if you don't get the job.
I STILL hasn't been advertised yet. I keep getting told they will advertise it imminently but they have been saying that for last 2 months. But I do know that it is all ready with HR to start advertising a long with 7 other jobs they need to advertise.
I still haven't decided what I will do. Now that I have my scan tomorrow I will be telling work at some point over the next few weeks, not decided exactly when yet.
My main issue is even if I wasn't pregnant Im not sure I would apply. The longer its taken to get the job advertised the more problems/cons I think of for moving jobs. to start with I thought it would be great but now im thinking more and more that maybe it wont be!
It would be really weird to be interviewed as it would be with my boss and her boss so I couldn't blag anything as they already know me pretty well! They're pretty fair where I work as they let you see the interview questions 20 minutes in advance so you can prepare your answers which I think it's good as it stops you duplicating things. I'm trying to think 'what will be will be' but in reality I think I'll be pretty bitter if I don't get it
Am I right in thinking that your potential job is a new post being created? I guess if it is it's still quite an unknown quantity so I suppose you can't decide until it's advertised and you can see all the details. Let us know what you decide to do and good luck if you do go for it!
Bubblepops - I've found the answer to getting too hot, hanging around in the fridge and freezer aisles at the supermarket! Obvs there's only so long you can do this before you look a bit weird but ooh it's nice
Mrs TM - That sounds like a lovely appointment and a lovely midwifenot long now til you can find out, hopefully baby cooperates on scan day!

Hello Tilly_Dreams and millysg1 :hello: nice to see you over here
Tilly, I don't know if you read one of my recent posts here but I've also been worried about the feelings I've been getting as I have no idea what's normal or not! I'm only 12+5 so I'm sure I can't be feeling baby yet, but a few times a day, especially at work when I'm standing, I can feel a pressure mainly on my right, kind of like an inward pulling. It's not painful at all but it's just strange, because I'm not used to feeling anything like thatI have a scan Weds so I can't wait to see how it again
Good luck with your application for promotion x
Bubblepops - that feeling sounds amazingGreat that the heartbeat was picked up by Doppler at the GP - is that how they monitor it at checkups etc then, as when I checked my notes it looks like after 20 weeks I won't have any more scans!
Mrs_T_M - I'm so pleased that everything went well today. I'm intrigued about the Facebook groups - are they private though? I'm just a bit apprehensive because I've not told anyone else other than family and close friends so I don't want things to be popping up on my feed saying I'm part of a Pregnancy group0 -

:p:p And now the B bump doesn't seem so bad after all
Loooooooool! :rotfl: Very good point missy!! Altho my ds weighed 4lb5 and the labour was an hour and half so f I aim to grow a 5lb5 baby with a similar labour and lots of fluid I'll get the best of everything including a 'D' bump!!
Hi to all the newbies, or oldbies from the previous thread :j lovely to see this thread getting busier!
Hope your work promotion issues sort themselves out Tilly and Milly, a few extra pennies before baby arrives would be ideal!! Good luck for the scan tomorrow too Milly, I'm sure all will be well
Out of interest, now that initial scans are done, has anyone started buying bits/decorating nurseries etc?0 -

Sounds like a lovely appointment Mrs TM!! I must ask tho, what are these Facebook groups you mention and how does one gain entry?! I'd love to join the fb gang too!!0 -
Wow this thread has got busy over the weekend!
Nice to see so many here and see so many positive posts especially when some of you have been having trying times.
Not much going on here over the weekend but we are very excited for our scan tomorrow, we can't wait to see our bean again :j
We haven't bought anything yet, I think I'm waiting for this scan to know everything is ok, we have looked at things but not many any decisions yet as to what we want except I think we've chosen car seats.
Has anyone else bought anything? x2014 - This is Our Year :j0 -
I'm interested in the Facebook groups too, how do we find them & are they private, Facebook is awful for telling everyone every single thing you like or comment on these days. Nice to see more graduates from the previous board & some lovely appointments! Can't wait to hear the babies heartbeat & its a really good idea about recording it! Will it likely be at my 15 week midwife appointment?0

I dont think im going to need to buy much.
My sister has recently had a boy and a girl, youngest is 20 months and she has saved everything for me, from the Cot, to pushchair, car seat, jumperoo, sterlising stuff, bottles, changin mat, clothes etc. Its been collecting in my roof for the last year (think it was her hint that she wsnts to me to have kids). I will ask a moses masket for a present from my parensts who will want to get me someting. NEw clothes im sure we will get plenty as presents so onoly plan to get a couple of basic stuff before hand. ITs mostly all the ancilleries like nappies, wipes, shampoo, teats for bottles, etc and stuff for me like maternity bras, breast pads, maternity clothes.0 -
I should also add im the last of 5 female cousins to have a baby. Between them they have 11 babies between 6 months and 5 who will also try to pass stuff onto me.0

I've already been offered about 3 different peoples moses basket. Going to borrow 1 of them and then get a crib for our bedroom I think. So far we're just bought some nappies with ouches I've had from packs and a few muslins and baby grows. Want to start deciding on furniture, decoration and all the other bits as we only really do anything on the weekends with work so the weeks will fly by quite fast i think!0
