    Hello all,

Not been on for ages and was v surprised to see myself near the top of the list! I'm now 23+2. Back to school today for 11 weeks...when is everyone else planning on going on maternity leave?

I've been looking at prams online too but am more restricted as I only have a tiny Hyundai i10 so there's limited choice that will fit in the boot. I'm not really sure when to take the plunge and start trying them out etc as I feel a bit superstitious.

I've spent the summer redecorating as we had to get the house rewired so have been living in a building site. We are over halfway there now but still got bathroom to do which will be the most upheaval. Going to try and get that done in October but doubt that I'll be up to doing it myself by then! Am very aware of this massive deadline!!

delurking.... Alice I can understand your superstition but you can always buy your pram and then get it delivered nearer the time, which is what we did. We did find that depending on the type of pram that you look for that there could be quite a waiting time. We didn't have this issue, and I'm not sure what make it would have been but were warned that leaving it too late could mean it's not ready in time for baby arriving. relurking.
  • Just back from our scan and we're joining team blue, baby was quite comfortable in a funny position so nearly had to go for a walk half way through but baby decided to start behaving. All was well and baby is happy and healthy.

Wow, you had a great bargain there with your double buggy Pington!

sulphate, I have no idea how to pick prams either. We're going to look at some for the first time on Sunday - our first day off together for ages. I'm guessing they're all equally safe and comfy for baby, so it'll be a case of what fits in your car boot, folds up easily, has enough storage space in it and it easy to manoeuvre, considering if you have a lot of steps/rough ground/walk a lot/drive mostly/take trains/buses. And the price! I'm hoping we'll identify 3 or 4 we'd be happy with, then just wait for the best price offer.

Toooldforthis, yep, it's pretty scary moving on up to the next thread - I'm due to move shortly too. By the time some of this group move up, we'll be nearly ready to pop!

Hope your first day back went ok alice31. I've just signed up today for my maternity leave starting 25 days before I'm due, on 1 December. So 3 months of work left!

Have a fab holiday Nicky Noo Na - enjoy packing light for now!

timeflies that's how we picked a pram. We got a collection pram off ebay for £6 using the mse ebay app so going to use that while we figure out what we want if it isn't right.

Burst of energy - never happened for me. Felt sick in first trimester but never sick. Less sick in 2nd trimester but actually sick 3 times. Go figure!

We chose our pram based on what was easiest for me to manage and we could easily use. Plus hubby fell in love with the design :rotfl:. We went with the Urbo2 Donna Wilson and have sort of carried on with the woodland theme in the nursery too. Still have made sure that it fits in my boot but hubby guarantees that it will but might call in to a shop and double check that it will fit oops.

Oh and we're not that scary on the next thread up honest :D

  • We're 17 weeks gone with our first baby who's due to put in an appearance on 14th Feb. We had to have a CVB and a bunch of testing so we know we're having a boy (which has narrowed down the argument over names by 50%!). Back on the 11th for him to have a heart scan, and then the 20 week scan on the 1st October, at which point (fingers crossed!) we'll be discharged back to our usual hospital for a completely normal and healthy rest of pregnancy...

Apart from a lot of tiredness, feel blessed that I'm not been too sick, though have contrived to lose over a stone since I booked on which seems to have upset the midwife somewhat! Stomach went pop this week, so need to make an emergency mission for clothing at the weekend :rotfl:

When buying your pram consider what you actually want and if you can get it! I have a small car so needed something that fits, I then panicked as I am having a winter baby and though a carrycot should be used. That lead me to buy a second hand loola. My first choice though was a joie aire as it is really light...but it only faces forward (I have bought this too though!!) I have decided the loola is heavy as a pushchair so in a moment of madness bought a zapp 2 as it can be parent facing! So much for my good money saving start as I now have 3 pushchairs so think it through very carefully and make a clear list. Once you have bought one, don't keep looking!!

For maternity leave I wanted to go as long as possible but within reason due to an irrational loyalty to my students (I am a teacher) my due date is 19th Dec so am starting maternity from 1st December, so 3 weeks. I thought if the baby was late it would annoy me to have used up my maternity time (and pay) by going too soon, and if need be and I get signed off at 36 weeks it would only be one more week than I Intended.

  • I'll be 38+2 when I go on maternity leave, I'm another teacher, I'll be off from 35 +1 until 37+5 on christmas holidays in work for an inset day and then four more days. Just hoping baby stays put until he's meant to be evicted, don't want to go into labour in school.

First time around with my LB I finished at 36 weeks and drove myself crazy waiting as well as my hugely protective father deciding I couldn't be home alone so had to get up with hubby when he went to work at 7:30 and go to my parents every day until he came home at 5:30. I think I'd rather be in work where I won't drive myself potty.

At what point do people tend to start maternity leave with twins, given they are considered full term at 37 weeks?
