Oh Pington, about the weight gain, I meant to say, I didn't put on anything for the first 15 weeks or so, despite all the munching through the sickness. Then I put on 4lb in one week when baby had a little growth spurt.:D I've put on 14lb now after 23 weeks (not having twins though). I have my midwife check up on Monday and will ask if I'm an ok size/weight; she didn't measure or weigh me at my 16 week check, but did initially at the 8 week booking appointment. Definitely worth asking at your 16 week appointment if it reassures you - mine was all over in 5 mins and I was just a bit bamboozled to ask!
Thanks, that's good to know!
At my booking appointment she asked if I knew my weight but didn't actually weigh me herself. I'd weighed myself that morning so it wasn't a problem, but I did think it was a bit weird.
I'm trying to eat constantly at the moment because I've discovered that if I go more than about half an hour without eating then try to do anything (e.g. walk around a supermarket for ten minutes, stand in the kitchen and chop fruit...nothign strenuous) I get sick, dizzy, faint, sweaty, breathless and start blacking out. Not pleasant at all!
It was embarrassing yesterday when it happened in the supermarket; I had to sit on the floor at the self checkout while a member of staff did the scanning for me and my friend packed my bags. I'm not sure if those symptoms (presumably down to blood sugar or pressure?) to that extent are quite normal so I'm going to keep an eye on it0 -
Thanks for updating the list time flies, am sure I will still lurk on this board to see how everyone is getting on.
Pington hope you get some advice when you see the midwife. Its definitely a good idea to write down anything you want to ask to make sure you get the information you need. I did at the 16 week appointment but didn't have anything to ask at 24 weeks yesterday which made the appointment much quicker but more routine and less personal.0 -
Pington, all those symptoms are very familiar! I had a big shopping list one day, but after being kept waiting at the superdrug till and feeling faint, I went straight home after that first shop and didn't bother going to the rest. Hope it passes soon. My sickness went by 16 weeks, but I'm still faint if I stand for too long.
Hello tia86, I'll be joining you on the next thread in a week! I's weird isn't it toooldforthis, doesn't seem like long since we joined this thread! You became second when I did the maths and cleared about 5 people off the top!0 -
Hi all!
It is getting exciting now as we told our close familys on the 15th and we had our anomolly scan last Friday, 22nd!
We are team..... YELLOW!
We didn't ask the sex but out mums do not beleive us lol. Went to a cocktail party and drank mocktails, we bought a 2nd hand Cosatto pram/buggy which is ace!
I'm glad i told work then as well because back then i looked a little bit podgy and in the last 2 weeks i have just got massive! Work trousers no longer fit and i'm maternity trousers
I most definately look pregnant! So terrified as to how big I am actually going to get!
Should be 21 weeks tomorrow!0 -
That's funny your mums not believing you scmp! I know what you mean about being terrified how big you'll get - I can't imagine being any bigger than I am now!
I think this is a nice stage, 16-23 weeks (1st time pregnancy for me), you look pregnant, rather than passably chubby, you're not suffering with so much sickness, you get your 20 week scan and hopefully an a-ok from that, and start to wear maternity clothes, but aren't in a tent yet!
I did feel a bit faint this afternoon, so skipped the errands I was planning to run after work- not worth the drive when I feel like this, so I've come home to put my feet up instead0 -

Our scan date came through the post today, just over a month and I'm excited already! How is everyone coping? The tiredness and nausea seem to have eased off over the past week but there are still plenty of triggers I have to avoid! Oh the joys!
We've now told nearly everyone and the reactions have all been of genuine excitement, it's been lovely and things feel a lot more real now.
Enjoy the weekend everyone x2014 - This is Our Year :j0 -
After still not receiving my scan date/consultant appointment I rang the hospital today. Appointment now booked for a week today, at which point I'll be just over 14 weeks. A bit late for first scan so I'm glad I did an early private one at 11 weeks!
Also I've put on 1kg over the weekend. Yey!0 -
Hi Ladies, Hope you are all keeping well
I am now 17+4, but still no discernable bump... I am definitely fatter but it just looks like fat, which is beginning to get me down. My own clothes don't fit me very well, but I'm too small to fit into some of the nice maternity tops etc I've got. When is it going to come?????!!!
Still not felt bubba either, so getting jealous of everyone who is having a lovely time at the moment!
Got my first appt with the private hospital out here on Wednesday, altho hb has just dropped a clanger which means he can't get out of work for it and I'm going to have to get the free bus, which leaves 2.5hrs before my appt... Never mind. The Dr here has told me that they tend to do a quick scan at each appt so hopefully I'll get to see bubs again on Wednesday and then get the date for my proper 20 week scan. We are hoping to stay team yellow, but have been told by a few people out here that the scans are so detailed we may have no choice but to find out. Of course a teeny part of me wants to know anyway...!!
It's nice to read how everyone else is getting on, even though I don't comment too muchxxx
