Lemon Tree and lollypopswater congrats for the scans.
teabag29 Enjoy your scan tomorrow, you must be so excited!
OMG I didn't realise that hubby might not be able to stay overnight in the hospital. That terrifies me, we've never spend a night apart and that is the worst time to start! Does anyone know if this is policy as RBH?
I went back to my Slimming World group last night. I had been off since my BFP due to morning sickness and I was a little horrified to have put on 5lbs. I have been at target for around 18 months so a big gain was a shock to the system. I need to get in my head that I am allowed to gain weight now! Is 5lbs a lot for 12 weeks? I have no idea what the guidelines are for weight gain?
Birth partners are allowed to visit beyween 9&9 at Rbh.
But if you're in labour they can be there anytime as you'll be in your own room.
So say you had the baby at 5pm your husband has to leave at 9pm.
I think visitors can come at about 3pm.
If you ask for a private room (dependant on availability, costs £110 but they don't always actually charge..) he can stay.
I know it sounds bad but as a woman staying on the ward in a hospital you don't really want men or lots of other people you don't know in the ward at night! So there is good reason for it.
So don't worry about it. If you have a normal labour and are allowed home a few hours later or the next day it won't be that bad.
If you have a c-section and have to stay in a few days id ask for a private room so he can help otherwise you'll be calling a midwife everytime you need to pick the baby up.0 -

Yeah, Daisiegg!! :j Great to see you here - so thrilled your scan went so well today.
Had my consultant's appointment this morning as a follow up to my hospital admission last week - he does not seem remotely concerned in the slightest. Said that if my spotting/bleeding increases or turns red, then to go in, but for now just keep an eye on it. He wants to see me immediately after my 20 week scan, so he can have a look at the scans there and then and assess things from there. So, my 20 week scan is 11th April, when I'll be 19w 3d!

Glad your consultant thought things were ok Mrs I
I feel all jittery now and don't know what to do with myself! Very excited and like I want to DO something...like start painting the nursery or buy a pram or something haha. Got my 16 week mw appt and 20 week scan all booked now, and we have also booked a private gender scan at 18 weeks (they can do it at 16 weeks but we will be away) so lots to look forward to after we get back from our holiday.
Keep looking at my picture of my little monster and beaming0 -
jenand8285 Thanks for the link, it said 2-5lbs in the first 12 weeks so I feel a little better
claire16c Thanks for replying. It does make sense that they don't want men in the ward, I hadn't thought of it like that. I really don't want to be on my own though because I am a big wimp so hopefully we can get a private room, or even better my labour will be such a breeze that I can go home!
teabag29 Congrats on having a boy! :j
daisiegg Glad your scan went well and great to see you on here! :j
Miss_Imaginative Glad your appointment all went well and not long until that scan at all!0 -
Hi ladies,
Sorry I haven't posted for a while I've had a couple of short breaks, prior to that was ill with dizzyness (not pregnancy related) so I've not been online as much.
I'll be moving on to the next thread today too as I'm 24 weeks exactly - it's come round so fast.
Congratulations on all the good 12 weeks scan and to all the ladies moving up from the less than 12 weeks thread.
I've had 2 consultant appointments since I last posted, both went well and by some miracle I've managed to lose half a stone rather than put weight on so my BMI has dropped to 36.2
Also, despite complications in first pregnancy making me high risk so far the consultants have said I *might* be allowed a waterbirth after all, as it turns out there is one pool with a wireless monitor at my hospital- I have to be monitored the entire labour, which is why my midwife said it was highly unlikely I'd be allowed a waterbirth.
The consultants have said that the decision will be made on the day about the waterbirth, but so long as no complications arise from now, my BMI stays under 40 and I can demonstrate I can get in and out of the pool unaided and of course if nobody else is in that room on the day then I might be allowed. I have another scan and consultant appointment at 36 weeks so hopefully everything will still be going smoothly then.
Hopefully I'll be catching up with you all again soon on the next thread.0 -
Nice to see you here Daisiegg
I have bought quite a few things already. I am waiting until the gender scan before buying the travel system as I want the Quinny Moodd in grey crackle which I think looks more boyish so will have it in red if we are having a girl. I am [STRIKE]a control freak[/STRIKE] very organised and would like to think I will be all done and dusted by about 28 weeks
Sounds positive AquamarineMonkeythough I have seen OBEM and barely any of the women can in and out of the birth pool unaided in later labour :rotfl:
