Hello everyone! I had my 12 week scan today, dated as 12+6 and due 13th September. They even booked my 20 week scan already, so I can start getting excited about the next one on 2nd May :)

Thanks for the comments re finding out the sex of the baby. I just really feel like I would benefit from knowing - if it's girl it's going to take me a little longer to get my head around the idea so I'd like some warning. I know we're not meant to say these things out loud but that's how I feel.

Told OH this (he already has two children) so he knows why I want to know but is adament he doesn't want to know, and didn't for his other two.

Just feel like I've been the one to back down about other things so far, like when we're telling his kids about the baby so would really like to be bale to find out the sex. Probably makes me sound selfish, wanting my own way!!!

    Omg you are me!!!! :rotfl:

I am desperate to know but my OH already has an 11yr old boy and soon to be 9yr old girl and he didn't know with either of them but I am hoping for a boy so would like to be prepared if its a girl :o

Had my 2nd midwife appointment today and heard the heartbeat, nearly started crying such a lovely sound! :j

She took more bloods from me (i have a possible antibody) so should hear next week if i need to see a consultant or not, feel like a pin cushion with amount of bloods being taken recently.

On the upside if I have consultant care I get more scans and chance to see baby! :)

  • Hi ladies,

Yesterday was an emotional roller coaster for me, my friend gave us some lovely baby bits her little one has grown out of :) and our dog had to be a the vets for bladder tests.
The vet rang whilst I was in Mothercare, telling me the additional task of cleaning her teeth was not really needed as they found a tumor. I'm utterly devastated. I had to get husband to phone back as I couldn't talk to the vet. I just cried so much of the day :( She's a rescue dog, she turns 12 in a month, we've had her for 2 years. She's totally part of our family.

  • Robots, I'm so sorry for your loss. *many hugs*

After a good consultants appointment and meeting with the healthy living midwife this morning, I was absolutely bouncing. Heard baby's heartbeat on the midwife's doppler and my parents have arrived to visit this evening, so life was pretty wonderful. However, an hour or so ago I started bleeding again, more than Wednesday - and have passed a couple of clots. :( It's not enough to fill a pad, but I'm still worried. Have rang the hospital, they say to go in in the morning to be looked over and given another dose of anti-d; if things worsen, then to give them a call if needed. I'm not in any pain or anything, and as hubby points out, at the moment it's not as bad as my first two bleeds, but I'm still worried.

It's going to be a very very long night. :(

Miss I I really hope it's the same as me in that it happened again but then that was it. It was worse for me that second time too, when they did an exam she pulled a clot out and so I had to stay in overnight. But after that it stopped. I tried to look at it as that the clot was perhaps my body stopping the bleeding.

It started at night for me too I called them they said to monitor it then I called again in the morning & that was when they asked how much it was then told me to come in.

So just to be prepared take a bag with you because my DH had to drive home with a long list I gave him as they basically said I wasn't going anywhere.
  • Sorry if I wasn't clear, they found a tumour in her bladder, but is well enough in herself right now. We will find out which type if tumour it is, and if there are treatment options. She's currently curled up at my feet snuffling in her sleep.

    Hi everyone,

Robots - i'm so sorry about your dog having a tumour, if she's well enough for now though just try and enjoy her while you're waiting to find out if there's a potential treatment.

I had my 22 week scan yesterday, all's well and baby was kicking up a storm ! We resisted finding out if it's a boy or a girl, only got to resist one more time now ! Doc did all the measurements and everythings on track and as it should be. Didnt get to see him/her in 3D though as he/she was turned towards my back. Spent possibily the most amazing hour of my life so far.

Oh and we bought a pushchair, a Peg Perego Sportivo Book Plus ! On sale ! It's amazing, i didnt know that a pushchair could have so many different features, a UV filtering hood, a special foot muff, special harnesses, even a drink holder ! I think i'll need some practice before i know how to make it all work !

Hope you're all well and blooming away

I really hope so too, as I'm not sure I can cope any more with these random bleeds that come out of nowhere and just stop - it feels like it happens every time I begin to truly relax and enjoy the pregnancy and get excited about what's to come!! My hubby and my Dad said that about the clot I passed last night too, that maybe it's my body trying to stop the bleeding. Bleeding had started easing last night when I posted, but I didn't want to tempt fate - but overnight absolutely nothing has transferred to a pad, blood is now going brown and is only visible when I wipe. Still heading in to the hospital as discussed last night to get checked over and to have (yet another) anti-d jab. Keeping fingers and toes crossed that little one is still quite happy in there and this has just been yet another random bleed.

Ahh, great minds think alike on the bag front. Hubby doesn't know this, but I packed a bag after my last bleed a few weeks ago just in case. While he is very good at most things, packing the essentials is just not one of them, bless him. Case in point: when he took me away for a surprise when he proposed - he forgot to pack any knickers, trousers/jeans of any sort or any sort of essentials like toothbrush or toothpaste. He did very well at orchestrating the surprise proposal and surprise party that followed though! :T

Robots, I'm so sorry, I misread your post completely (mind was all over the place last night). I'm pleased she's well enough in herself right now.

Well that sounds positive hopefully its stopping then.

Hope everything goes well at the hospital, Im sure youll be allowed home if its all stopped.

It certainly seems to be stopping, claire16c. :) Just got back from the hospital, they didn't scan me or examine me at all - their priority was to get a blood sample to send off to the lab to see whether I need another dose of anti-d. They're going to give me a call if I do need one and I might need to go in tomorrow for the jab.

They said given I seem alright in myself, I'm not in any pain and the bleeding seems to be stopping and wasn't "particularly heavy" that it's probably just one of those random bleeds and nothing to worry about. After a bit of pushing about how anxious I was (given I passed a clot), the doctor checked with her seniors who said I could have a scan at the EPAC next week (Wednesday).

Haha, yes, it certainly is a memory we look back on and laugh, even if he was upset with himself at the time (thinking it was a sign that everything that weekend was going to go wrong). As you say, certainly shows what they think about changing underwear! :p
