No advice to drink for me. They did at the start - but since the baby has come up into my tummy properly it doesn't seem to be such an issue.

No you only have to have a full bladder for the 12 week scan here.

you're sooooo lucky, had to have one for 20 week and 23 scans, but then had to have a week part way through the 23 week scan to drop the baby down as the heart was directly behind my belly button.
  • I don't think I could tolerate that much fluid anymore lemon! Seems mean. At the moment it feels like i'm running to the loo every 10 mins!

Guess what everyone.... I WENT SWIMMING!:j:dance:After 4 months of threats I did it! My advice- don't go swimming when it's half term! Eurgh. Lol.

I just bought my cot mobile and a load of other brand new bits in an ebay bumdle for a tenner. It included a new breast pump, bottles, bath, bowl, bouncer, change mat and storage box. Made up as the mobile is worth £45 on its own!

Life admin didn't happen- but hey! 20 lengths! :)

I am lucky. Not told to drink anything - if this link works it is to the royal berks maternity ultrasound leaflet. It says you do not need a full bladder and never been mentioned.

TCOD - congrats on swimming! Plus big respect for your bargain hunting :money:

T2D - so glad you had that lightbulb moment :j

PS and there must be something in not having to drink as I have had 2 scans only and they got all measurements fine both times

I was sitting waiting on my scan the other day and had taken a cup of water from the fountain as I was thirsty and they came past and told me I didn't have to have a full bladder for that one. Good job as I was at the loo before I left the house! Sent hubby to get me more during the scan as it was so warm and I was thirsty too, think they thought I was going to pass out with the heat but I was fine. 45 mins and they didn't get all done!

We were in for all of 20-30mins for our scan. So funny how everywhere is so different. Go figure!

it is funny how everything is different in each hospital despite them all being NHS (big assumption I know).
I've been asked if I would speak to a nurse about joining this new national project for new mothers over 35. They put you in one of two random groups, one is induced at 39 weeks and the other is left to fester and induced only if they go over in the normal way. Not sure I should take part, guess i'll have to figure out the questions I need to ask before I get the call. I wouldn't mind having the baby a week early or something though as it would force the issue at work of when I'm allowed to finish.
Hope everyone is getting the sun that we have today, and are able to enjoy it.
we've got hubby's sister and her hubby visiting from tomorrow for a week (if they actually turn up) so I have to get the house straight(er) before they get here. I did at least tidy up all the baby stuff again that was on the spare bed so they have somewhere to sleep. :)
  • Have 5 hours to kill while oh is doing a course today... Am at a outlet place. This can only end in disaster for the budget! There's only so long you can sit in m&s sipping the dregs of a pot of tea!

Lilmiss- i don't think my scan was even that long! 15 mins for 20 wk scan and then chucked out! :)

Lemon I was asked to participate in some sort of trial but not eligible now as want a home birth. It was something about blood loss and injections of fibrinogen post labour. If you don't mind me asking what are they expecting the benefits to be of inducing a week early for 'older' mums? Just being nosey really- sorry! :)
  • Got about 14 people coming for DH's birthday today and we are going to tell people we're team blue.

Unfortunately managed to wake at 4am this morning so glad we opted for a 2-6 shindig and easy party food. Must get back to decorating the cake pops.

Lemontree - that is interesting. They'll have to give you lots more information and I would also be really interested in hearing what the benefits are believed to be for induction. Don't fall into that category this time round (just) but if we are lucky enough to have another one day I definitely will be.

I also have a horseshoe rash arching over top of my belly and going down the sides. Blotchy boobs and legs. We've taken a picture :rotfl: and as we had just got out of a bath and dtd am going to wake until this evening or if I feel ill or hot or itchy before consulting dr google.

    Good days people!
