    Hello all. Just catching up.
I've a corker of a headache, I woke up at 5.45 yesterday, 4am thurs and 6 am today. Not happy bunny.

Although I am pleased all my new bedroom furniture arrived this morning, 8 huge fitted wardrobes for my bedroom, I'm going to be able to finally start getting the house organised and there's just stuff everywhere.
Also my new I pad air arrived this morning!

Were going out to an American meat place called !!!! a doodle moo tonight for my brothers birthday and tomorrow we've been invited for a day on a canal boat so I'm busy busy busy. Wish this head ache would go away.

Mrs c glad you found a solution to your holiday!

Little miss hope your party goes well and the rash eases off. If it does get itchy you must call dr or midwife.

Everyone else have a lovely weekend xx

Good luck with the party lilmiss and hope the itching eases.

monty doggy, it is 5am every weekday here as that is when hubby gets up to go to work! I usually try to go back to sleep for a bit but don't always manage.

I am very exited because today we are going OUT! Like, out! Somewhere other than my house, the hospital, work, and Mothercare! I had a bit of a freak out last night saying that I never go anywhere or do anything and feel like I have not done anything fun for months. So we are going up to Cambridge (easier than London as no trains to tackle), will do a little bit of shopping, and have booked an early dinner for 6pm :) I am beyond ridiculously excited - bit pathetic I know! Then tomorrow afternoon we have my parents and sister coming for a BBQ.

Has anyone had a UTI? I have never had one before so not really sure what to look out for. I have had lower abdominal pain and tenderness all week. When I saw the GP on Wednesday she dipped my urine and said there was something that may indicate an infection but she wasn't sure. I mentioned it at the hospital and they also did a urine sample but I don't think they found anything...or if they did, they didn't say. Now today and yesterday I feel like I need to wee constantly...I have been about 8 times already this morning! It doesn't hurt or sting when I wee or anything, so I'm not really sure. Going to definitely try and see a doctor on Monday. Maybe soon one week will pass without me being either in the doctor's or the hospital!

Has anyone had one before? Do you have to have stingy wee or could be symptoms be it?

Also (sorry for the tmi overload this post!) I have thrush or something again as I am just constantly itchy. Not getting any of the other symptoms of thrush like discharge or anything but it is just always itchy. Nice! The doctor is going to love me on Monday...

Daisie, if the uti is bothering you I normally just drink lots of cranberry juice, or get so cystitis crystals from the chemist. You just drink them. As I understand it makes your wee less acid so reduces irritation inside, hence stopping further damage and allows your body to quickly deal with the infection.

I never go to a gp for thrush or UTIs, I think they just give you the same things as you can pick up yourself. Although first time it's probably a good idea.

Thanks t2d. I'm sure I read somewhere that a UTI in pregnancy needs treating with antibiotics but I am probably wrong! Either way I will go to the doctor because that way if I get a prescription it's free... As for the thrush, I'd like to push for a swab or something to find out of it really is that, because I have been using the thrush cream they prescribed and it doesn't seem to work. The doctor said that you can't have pessaries or tablets in pregnancy but not sure if she is right.

I think a UTI your body can't clear itself needs treating with antibiotics. But if your immune system does it itself that is better than antibiotics. Cranberry juice etc just supports your own immune system allowing it to fix the problem. Your body manages infection everyday, you just have to help it along sometimes. :)

Agree on the thrush though. Worth checking it's not something else.

Good plan. Sorry to be so ignorant about UTIs - as I said, never had one before!

Oh, pregnancy, it is so sexy and glamorous...
  • You definitely can't have the pessaries when pregnant i'm afraid. Can't remember why but mil mw told me under no circumstances to get them when I had thrush in first trimester. Could be different now but I have a feeling she meant for whole pregnancy. Not sure they'll give you a swab unless they suspect infection and they'd dip test your urine first, no blood or protein in it= more than likely no infection and they won't swab. Could it be cystitis? Either way definitely get it checked out. :)

Have a lovely day out. I'm back in m&s cafe to get away from the hideous shopping hordes. Bought a nursing bra which was probably a bit daft as i know my boobs will grow more (and will then need some sort of industrial scaffolding I assume) but it was reduced to £12 in elle macpherson and it's the prettiest bra I've seen maternity/ nursing wise so I'll probably start wearing it now. Had a little giggle at the easy access boob peep holes in it...

    Hi Daisy,

Was just lurking from the other thread and I currently have a UTI. I'm 29 weeks today and I knew I had one as I'm a nurse I dipped my own urine plus had been feeling rubbish. I had a midwife appointment the next day so left it and when I saw her she told me I needed to see a DR for antibiotics as apparently a UTI in pregnancy if left can lead to premature labour.. So if you have those symptoms I would go Monday to get checked.

    I shall de-lurk now x

That sounds like excellent advice! I'll bear that in mind as I tend to just self treat. Good to know. :)
