Who was looking for sandals a while back for a summer wedding? My friends shoe label (La Paire) has a competition on now to win some gorgeous flat soft sandals on facebook. In White, Turquoise or Black.

Just search for La Paire and like/share the picture of the shoes.

:) me! Well remembered. Not on facebook so shall demand DH to do so on my behalf!

So sorry to hear about the fainting. As far as I recall Emily Oster says sleep however you are comfortable, your body will let you know what position to be in. Also you don't have a choice - if you turn in the night, you'll only wake if the position is wrong and then you'll have a chance to move. At my 7 week booking in they suggested sleeping on my left side from then to get used to it and lucky me by now, it feels comfortable but I do still lie on my back on occasion. Hilariously this is the most likely time to feel movement but maybe it's different as I am mostly propped up in bed with pillows before turning over to me genie pillow for sleep?

On plus side so glad to hear the scan was good otherwise!

Agree with you re buying baby stuff t2d.

michelle well worth looking at the ebay app on this site if you don't know about it already. The MSE app lets you search by collection only and area so if you are looking second hand for big items in particular you can furnish a nursery in under a fortnight for very little. Your OH can then be involved as the pick up man! Therefore no need to stress. Plus you'll likely be offered things too.

TCD - I feel ya on the life admin! I'm currently trying to sort out a re-mortgage as our deal has run out. Thought it best to do it before baby arrives and my salary drops. Also feel ya on the DIY! Don't know why I thought it was a good idea to embark on a total refit of our hall (new ceiling, front door, skirting, plastering, decorating etc) just as the weather is nice(er) and the garden needs doing!

T2D - boo for almost fainting, but yay for seeing buba again!

Ali - hope your cousin's baby is ok, its amazing how well babies born at that age do now with all the specialist medical help there is.

Chickpea - hello! So pleased to have you over here and delighted that you have your sticky bean at last. :j

    happy weekend everyone! x

In other news found out that my Cousin's GF had their baby last night however she was only about 30ish weeks so the baby only weighs 1lb 15oz (due in August so worked back from there).

So scary, I've had strong words with sproglet that as much as we want to meet she/he everyone wants she/he to be properly cooked.

Alioops - I've had this conversation with our little Joey to make it quite clear that timing is everything. Too big and mummy will cry plus expect extra large mother's day presents but definitely don't want too tiny either as mummy can't cope with the worry. Really hope all is ok.

I hadn't realised that if you gave birth before 20 weeks it still counted as a miscarriage. Naively I just associated miscarriage with first trimester and anything after as premature.

My friend had her baby induced a week early (long story, due on 28/12, they live in the middle of nowhere, her first baby came in 3 hours so they figured safest option was induction on 21/12 in case of snow etc) and even this she felt was too early that she needed another week cooking. No problems out of the ordinary just a mummy gut feeling.

  • daisiegg - I would consider whether PALS - patient advice and liaison service - can help. They are the forum for complaints and queries - they can help you get heard. All this to and fro is ridiculous. I am lucky I haven't had any problems as when I called the landline to rearrange a mat appt it took over a week for them to get back to me.

Might be the only way to get answers. on your behalf.

What I took from Emily Oster is that it is best to sleep on your left side if at all possible, due to a recent study that linked sleeping on the back or right side with a higher rate of stillbirth. You can read about the study online too - there is a summary of it on an NHS website. She basically says that more research is needed, but 'there isn't anything obviously wrong with the paper that would lead one to fully discount the conclusions'. She says it isn't clear what the right conclusion is so basically 'sleeping on your left side is unlikely to be bad, so that's a good option if you can manage it'. However I have been told that it doesn't need to be completely on your side - just having something wedged slightly under your right hip is enough to tilt you slightly so it still feels like you are sleeping on your back, but it does the same job as sleeping on your left side.

I am like others and find sleeping on my back the most comfortable thing...have been consciously trying to tilt to the left and will definitely make more of an effort in the third trimester I think. I can feel baby the most when on my back though too!

I'm a stomach sleeper, so I'm finding all the options problematic. I like feeling 'cozy', and can't get that feeling on my back. Plus I suspect I snore like a lumberjack on my back, and DH is too polite to mention it. ;)

I can't sleep on my left now, due to hip and shoulder problems (I'm a mess!) but with a body pillow thing I sort of half sleep on my front/side, with the right side propped up enough to give tummy space. Inevitably I'll wake up at some stage with horrible shoulder pain, but at least it works part of the time.

Alioops really hope your friends baby does ok. We joke about big babies being worrying, but small babies are really scary too. I post on a forum for people with cervix problems and so many of them had babies between 20-24 weeks and it is heartbreaking.

"They" can do a lot to help, but the truth is there is no replacement for keeping the babies inside us for as long as possible.

Oh I meant to say earlier - is anyone else having absolutely bizarre dreams? I am every night now and I am enjoying them - they are so weird!

Last night I dreamt that my brother was gay (he is not, he has a lovely girlfriend) and was in a relationship with his old best friend from school. They were really broody and desperate for a child together and when my baby came, they stole her. Only problem was, my brother's boyfriend did not know how to hold a baby, and her head fell off! This is just the tip of the bizarre iceberg that is my dream world at the moment... :D

I should have the GTT but I can no longer take the test as I can't drink that much fluid or take that type of fluid anymore, but it does mean that I have to do 'random' weeks of blood sugar testing until 28 week. I'm testing this week, and this is the 3rd week I've had to do so far. I've got to test week 27, and if my levels still stay within normal limits they will discharge me from diabetic consultant and admit I don't have it.

daisy, your dream made me chuckle! I have always had really vivid dreams but haven't had any of late. Last baby related one I dreamt I took the baby to work and put her in a cupboard out of the way and forgot to take her home and didn't realise until the following morning!

How come you can't drink that much fluid? Sickness? Poor you :(
