  • I can't offer any advice on gtt sorry daisi- perhaps contact your midwife team/ hospital and tell them the form has gone awol. From working in the nhs I would imagine that no form means you can't book the test- if there's one thing we love in the nhs it's a pointless form! :) what is the bmi limit for a gtt? Mine was/ is 30 at booking in/ now so was referred to consultant for bmi but nothing about testing was mentioned...

T2D- glad your repeat scan went well. The dizziness doesn't sound fun though. I'm still sleeping on my back but I can't remember what Oster's advice was- whether it does do harm or not. It doesn't make me dizzy or anything though...

I AM going to swim today. Have told oh my plans and he is making me leave when he starts his coursework. The horror! I noticed the other day in h&m changing room that I appear to be developing quite the varicose vein on the back of my right leg. It's about 20cm long. Doesn't hurt though- just looks hideous! Put me right off buying some shorts- tbh the 'lovely' weather also put the kibosh on them. Everytime I buy something sun related (sunscreeen last time) i break summer.. :/

My BMI was 34 at booking in. Here, you get referred to a consultant if it is 35 or above. GTT is done if it is 30 or above. Suppose it is different everywhere!

From what I have heard the advice is you can sleep on your back until your body tells you you can't. I lie on the sofa with no problem, so I think it was the position, and the constant pressure on my tummy that did the trick.

Ladies talk about waking up breathless with racing hearts if lying on their back is a problem. I presume your body is clever enough not to let you just 'faint' in your sleep and stop breathing. Lets hope!

Daisi - When I was in on Tuesday they booked in my 20 week scan & cancelled the 16/17 week appointment my consultant had made for me the week before when I was admitted to hospital.... as he didn't want me to be left unseen until the 20 week scan.
I rang up and spoke to the gyne office team and explained to her she said that I knew more about my care and could see that the 16/17 week appointment had only been cancelled the day before so she re booked me in !!!
If you can think it........it will happen

Who was looking for sandals a while back for a summer wedding? My friends shoe label (La Paire) has a competition on now to win some gorgeous flat soft sandals on facebook. In White, Turquoise or Black.

Just search for La Paire and like/share the picture of the shoes.
  • Thanks daisi. Just did a google and most things seem to say only have gtt if bmi over 30, risk factors (mum/ dad with type 1 or 2 diabetes) or if you have sugar in urine tests. I only have one risk factor so I assume that they won't give me the test unless I get sugar in urine diptest.... Sounds disgusting anyway so fingers crossed I don't have to have one- hate sugary syrupy things. :)

I need to do some 'life admin' today which i hate. Eurgh. Have to set monthly budget and see if I can stick to it. It's MOT month, car exhaust sounds like it has a hole in and need to get last of baby bits- still need mattresses, isofix base, monitor and cot mobile. Also have so much diy to do that it makes me want to crawl back into bed and not wake up until September! Bloody life admin. Gah.

Oh really? I only have one of the risk factors too ( BMI over 30) and my pregnancy notes say that is enough to trigger the test. Suppose it is different everywhere!

TCOD - I'm having to have the GTT done due to my BMI being 32 and the cut off here (North West) is 30.

Daisiegg - they booked my GTT at my booking in appointment but there was also 5 or so other appointments that were booked at the same time. On the back of your notes just check to see if they have marked down a date for the GTT as that's where they made a note of mine as well as giving me the form.

T2D - must've been quite scary to have that happen and thank goodness you mentioned something.

In other news found out that my Cousin's GF had their baby last night however she was only about 30ish weeks so the baby only weighs 1lb 15oz (due in August so worked back from there).

So scary, I've had strong words with sproglet that as much as we want to meet she/he everyone wants she/he to be properly cooked.
