People looking at my hoo har and having a poo while giving birth does not bother me. As I have medical problems associated with both. I fully expect to get piles from giving birth but hope my 20+ years of chronic endo pain will help me to cope with the pain of child birth. We think my mum had endo as well, but it was never diagnosed by a lap, and when giving birth the staff were surprised by her pain tolerance levels.

I really need to learn about the drug options. Did everyone read about them on the NHS website?

Daisie, is it the babies heart that can be seen on the scan? It's so clear!

The main reason I wanted to post was because someone was talking about the Hauck Eagle and I remember the poster saying they were on a budget, so I wanted to just post about Bounty Offers http://www.bounty.com/bountyoffers/ - the Hauck Eagle is on offer this week. It doesn't ALWAYS work out cheaper (in fact just looking now the preciouslittleone site has it £10 cheaper) but it's definitely worth a look, new offers come up every Monday and often include a number of prams. I got a M&P Sola for £165, at the time M&P were still selling it themselves for £279 and third party sites were selling it for £199. xx

It was me asking sunshine - thank you so much for the advice :)

You lot have been gabbing a lot today, just catching up!!

I remember many a weekend playing hunt for change down the back of the couch so we can eat! My hands and arms were small enough! Fair play to my mum and dad- they made it fun! :) seriously, at one point during the 80s recession we ate value smash mash and beans for about 2 months straight. Can't face either of them now....

It's mad how money is getting to me though. I think it's because I still don't know how much mat pay i'll get, how long I can afford to be off or if oh will ever earn! I'm finding being a sole earner pretty stressful right now and he isn't inclined to look for pt work- instead just moans he has no money. He's not entitled to jsa or benefits because he was self employed for 5 years but even then he never made any money- just enough to keep the business running. I can't talk to him about it as it ends up in a fight or with him saying he'll jack his course in and get a ft job (cos seriously, there's loads of those by us right now....not....) which is pointless as he has no qualifications to speak of and very little 'employed' job experience so he'll end up in the same boat but without a back up. I feel like my head is going to burst sometimes!

Oh is training to be a teaching assistant in primary school and he says most of the kids in his class have ipads (or access to them), a smartphone and tvs in their rooms. Crazy!

Aw TCOD try to take it a day at a time. Will your work let you return earlier if you find you are struggling too much? I can understand you must be finding that so stressful xx

    Welcome Wendz

Oh and also went to get a mole checked yesterday as it had grown loads recently. Apparently this is a normal occurance in pregnancy! I guess another one of those things that no one tells you.

Phew! I even took pictures of moles I was so worried so glad to hear this

Yes to NCT just for making friends

Welcome all the new people! I don't think I'm keeping up very welcome but hello to tinkwings (hope the bleeding stops soon, how stressful) and feebiequeenie. The list is hopefully not too far back if you want to join it.

tcod - sole wage earner here too. DH has just finished 3 year undergrad degree and wehave agreed he can have just over a month off until end of June. His new job will start 1st September so he's trying to say that he can have all summer off until then. Ha ha I said.

Monty-doggy - I believe that when it comes to the time you'll be so busy focusing on the baby you probably won't be thinking of what other people are thinking. I have done care work where you offer personal care (aka washing someone) and you really don't think anything of it - it's not like you take a mental picture at the time!

    Laila - get better soon

WTDN - thanks for magnesium tip

    Daisiegg - amazing scan!

Does anyone know if it's worth getting photo at the 20 week scan?

Lilmiss, the 20 week photo seems to show more features than the 12 week one. We just got a 20 week this time around.

Hello Wendz, freebie, and everyone else new!

The job ad for my maternity cover just went 'live'. I really hope they get some decent applicants, as no-one else I work at the moment with has the specialisms to cover what I do.

Why is DS not asleep? Aaargh. He's just started shouting 'Daddy' from upstairs. Last night we read the same Kipper book 6 times. I think children are good at teaching you to be very patient, but I really can't take another dose of Kipper. Maybe I can convince him to go for a different story....
  • T2D- try this link http://myrenaissanceblog.wordpress.com/2014/04/11/ it's the same picture just on a blog. No idea what blog is about but I found the pic helpful for me to see where pains were coming from.

Peonie- thanks for the reassurance. I hope he does go on an agency and do it but he's like a big kid (Mr 'don't tell me what to do'...) so will have to figure out a way of suggesting it so it looks like he has come up with idea. Tbh agency work would prob be perfect for him as depending how I feel when mat leave is coming to an end I might see about going part time. He could do childcare for 3 days and I could do 2 days. Looked at the tax credit system and if we did that from what scrappy figures I put into the calculator we'd be £7k a year better off. Makes no sense but I figure I've worked since I was 12, never claimed (or been entitled to) a penny so why not. Will have to double check with citizens advice or someone like that though...

WTDN, enjoy your yoga! Sounds fab. I think one of my firends is going to drag me to the pool next week. She has a 10month old lg so we can take it in turns to play with baby/ swim.

Monty- fear is normal! Seriously, if you weren't a bit overwhelmed by all this you'd be either a bit mad or the coolest, calmest person ever! I would definitely try and talk through your concerns with a hcp though as you don't want them becoming insurmountable. In my area (Liverpool) the midwives I'm with for home birth have gas and air and access to pethidine. If you want anything stronger then it is off to hospital. My fear is having to go into hospital and having interventions that I don't want. I'm a control freak at the best of times so would rather be in my own environment if i'm in pain and feeling emotional/ vulnerable...

    Brb. Kettle calls.... :)
  • I've been umming and ahhing over nct course. Luckily my mw's do run birth, parenting and hypnobirthing classes for free but was thinking that nct may expand my social circle from hermit to less hermity.... Think we were quoted about £120 as they do discounts if household income is less than 26k.

Monty- forgot to agree with lilmiss- as someone who did personal care for years on hundreds of different people you really don't goggle at what you're doing. I never saw anything out of the ordinary down there that stuck in my mind- we're all pretty much the same! Worst thing I ever saw was foot related so think we're safe from that in labour! Lol.

How prepared is your work bluebell?! I know my place won't recruit until i've left and that person won't start then for about a month. It takes about 6 months to be competant at what I do so they'll not have long!

Lovely scan pics! My 20 week ones are terrible. Baby was not in mood to cooperate one iota. At least that's a positive to having a 3d one in a few weeks- might get a decent picture that doesn't scare oh's nan! :)
  • Just a quick question - did you all stop taking folic acid after your 12 week scan?

No, I still take Pregnacare (albeit slightly less religiously - I sometimes forget for a day or two now) but I don't think the folic acid is strictly necessary after the first trimester. I figure it can't do any harm though!
