Looks like im moving to this thread now, just got back from my scan and im 12 weeks 6 days due 4th September (but born around 28th August as I have to have a C section).
Having a terrible pregnancy im convinced I have a condition called hyperemesis gravidarum, I have spent the last 7 weeks on the sofa, I cant stand for more than a minute without vomiting or passing out and i cant hold down food n barely any fluid. I constantly feel sick and dizzy like the room is spinning and since by booking in appt 4 weeks ago I have lost a stone in weight, im only urinating twice a day n very dark because i cant hold fluid down just small sips n everything smells so stroong n awful. I almost passed out today at the scan and they tested my urine but said it cant be hyperemesis gravidarum as there is no ketone (or something) in my urine. I just hope this passes soon, this is way more than morning sickness and really affecting my life, just wanna enjoy being pregnant
Teabag you need to go to the dr - or call them if you cant leave the house, and ask for something. It can be bad for you to get really dehydatred you musn't ignore it and I have to say thats shocking that they sent you away without anything.
I got given tablets and although they didnt touch the nausea, they meant I could keep water down and they also made me very sleepy which to be honest was what I needed just to get away from the feeling for a while. Otherwise I was going to end up in hospital on a drip and it sounds like you could too. I started to retch blood one day because my throat was so sore. Your body cant keep being that sick without some effect.
I second Lulu, try ice pops. I tried various ice lollies (and never having a lemonade one again after bringing that up wont forget that taste!) but the pops were good.
I just called my dr and said I was vomiting several times a day, and couldnt keep anything down and she got a prescription for me that lasted a week, and then I rang back for more at the end of the week.
The other reason why you need to do something about this, is if you are this sick then it could be that the sickness doesnt go away for a while either. The whole magic 12 week thing was a farce for me I was vomiting until 21 weeks. And Ive read that this is common for people who get very sick so please dont just lie there assuming it will go away next week or something. Dont prolong the agony get some tablets!0 -
moonbabe hopefully you'll be able to have a tour so it's less scary for you. When we did our hospital tour when expecting DS they said not to worry about all the machines, some of them are rarely used except in emergencies, but they have to have them there just incase.
Wangdoodle, hope the move went well and you're all settled in now!
Glad you're midwife appointment went well robots.
Congratulations on the successful scan MrsMuffin.
Disney my symptoms started to go about 9 weeks this time, although mild nausea return from week 14 for a few weeks, but now at 20+5 I don't really have many symptoms except tiredness, sore boobs when it's cold and pain in my pelvis (which was damaged pre pregnancy anyway).0 -
Teabag - I'm glad some people with more experience have come along. Hope you are able to get help ASAP. Welcome to the thread.
Anyname - ooh lucky you! I'd love one, mainly so elderly relatives can hear, but both midwife husband & consultant don't think it'd help my anxiety!
Disney - yup same here, but later, weird isn't it?Please forgive the badly spelt alias... I am a long time contributor who needed to reclaim anonymity for health/job related posts.0 -
Thanks for the replies re weight gain. I was just worried that I haven't really gained at all. Will see my midwife next wed so will hopefully get weighed again there.
Disney I feel exactly the same! I'm 15+2 & don't feel pregnant anymore!
And to whoever mentioned discharge! I feel your pain! It's so awkward! As if my growing belly wasn't effecting how I feel in bed (if u know what I mean!), the discharge is on a whole other level!0 -
Hey ladies, I am 15&1 today and have so much discharge its worrying, sometimes i go to the loo just to make sure its not blood.
I am also with you credit crunch about not feeling pregnant anymore apart from all the phlegm i cough up every morning (anyone else get this?) and the flutters/twinges (ligament pains) in my stomach.
So glad the constipations gone, that is a symptom i am hoping doesnt reoccur in 3rd trimester!!!Now a SAHM trying to earn some spare pennies each month0 -

Don't worry too much about weight gain, I have been told most midwives don't weigh you again after your booking in appointment and only go by bump measurements after 28 weeks.
At 15 weeks I had only put on 1lb from my booking in weight, now at nearly 24 weeks I have put on 5lb total. A lot of women don't gain much until the 3rd trimester, so still plenty of timeExpecting Baby No 1 - 20/06/14 - Team Yellow!0 -

The morning phlegm cough is the worse, I still have it now and have kind of resigned myself to it not going away!Expecting Baby No 1 - 20/06/14 - Team Yellow!0 -
I had a dream about my baby last night and have woke up feeling all excited
she was about 5 months in the dream, really chunky and gorgeous of course! haha. I can't wait to meet her, I kind of want time to speed up a bit so I can hold her. well, maybe not too fast since she doesn't have anywhere to sleep yet...

Thanks for the advice ladies.
I have tried to get help from the dr, almost 2 weeks ago I rang the emergency dr as it was so bad and they just fobbed me off saying it was pregnancy sickness, i tried to explain i had been stuck on the sofa for over a month, cannot stand for more than a minute and cannot hold anything down and this is more than normal sickness but he wouldn't listen he said it will pass soon.
Then on the Monday I saw my GP who was reluctant to prescribe anything at this stage and also said its pregnancy sickness, he gave me some antibiotics for my sinusitus (the only ones without peneclin he could find as im alergic) and he said im not anaemic so i'll be ok it will pass.
Nobody has even taken my blood pressure to check if its low, my weight was done yesterday and in exactly 4 weeks since my booking in appt i have lost a stone in weight. I dont no who else to speak to, took me everything i had to get to the drs and sit waiting as i was so dizzy n felt awful. I have next midwife appt in 2 weeks so hoping she may take me a ittle more seriously0 -
Teabag, you need to ask to.see another gp at the practice. Unfortunately a lot of Drs. Fob hg off as morning sickness and it is most definitely not. I ended up in hospital on a drip with my first my ketones were dangerously high and I.was in a circle that couldn't be broken without intervention. This pregnancy I started feeling sick at 5weeks when to the Drs and he prescribed anti-emetics unfortunately the ones he gave made me spacy and dizzy so i called the surgery and they gave me a different prescription. I am now nearly 23 weeks and still sick in the morning but no where near as bad as I was and i can function. As a thought can you ring the surgery and ask for a home visit and say you are too weak to come in.PLEASE DO NOT WAIT 2 WEEKS FOR A MW APPT XX
The link further up is great for pregnancy sickness support if you contact them they may help / advise about getting a prescription from your doctors.
Please don't accept this is the way it has to be as there is help out there. XTwenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do.
