Ooh sounds fun Lara, and you got a great deal there :) I hope you're not too tired after waiting.
Maybe there'll be the chance for more freebies nearer the end, as stalls don't want to pack up surplace?

You have been very busy Firey, I can't imagine managing to clean the whole house in a day! We've just got in from walking the dog, and the weather is turning here also.

  • Bit of a lurker here!

Heard the baby's heartbeat for the first time today at the 16 week midwife appointment. Made up for having a rather tough weekend!!

Just had a week of bad constipation which is now sorted and I have a cold so feeling just as rubbish again but in different ways :)

  • Hi, can I join this thread? Im currently 14 weeks, due on 23rd August.

Does anyone know how to work out how much SMP is after tax and NI? Or how I could find out? Im trying to work out how much I will be getting whilst on mat leave, I will be getting payments from my employer as well, which is half pay for 6 months, I have just halved my take home salary which I guess would be about right for that part, unless Im missing something? But Im not sure on the SMP.
  • Hi all,

    Welcome Raspberry and Gemma!

Glad you've felt some bigger movements Robots - I'm wondering if I might be feeling some tiny flutters (a little over 20 weeks now) these days, but honestly it might just be my digestive system!

Sounds like some good Baby fair action over the weekend too!

AFM - Saw my GP today and mentioned that my urologist had changed the medication (needed repeat prescription of the drug). She was surprised by the change, a bit worried (not supposed to take drug in third trimester - not there yet but medics seems to be worried about it nonetheless) and asked if the urologist had told the antenatal team. I explained that he can't have done because he's in London (I'm in the northwest of England) and he didn't ask who my antenatal team were. GP was a bit shocked and suggested I contact "my" midwife ASAP. Then I explained the saga of not having "a" midwife, and being passed between the obstricians at the hospital and the community midwives, with neither seeming to want to take responsibility. Anyway, have number for community midwives to call tomorrow (no one answers the phone line on Mondays!) to ask for an urgent appointment to discuss new medication. The GP said the community midwife might then refer back to obstetrician, but the important thing is to discuss the medication change as soon as possible.

But I've got a bit upset by the process, and am reminded that all might still not go well with me/baby, and that it's a "high risk" pregnancy. Also upset because I didn't know to tell the antenatal team about the change in medication, and even if I did I wouldn't have known who to call. Feel a bit silly that I didn't realise this sooner and kick up a big fuss. Hope it won't have any adverse effects...

I've got my 20 week scan tomorrow. Getting rather nervous - please keep your fingers crossed for us in the morning! Also, has anyone heard from AquamarineMonkey lately? I think her 20 week scan was scheduled for tomorrow, too?

Hope all's sunny where you are.

    Bumblebee x

SMP is £136.78 a week. Not sure how to calculate tax and NI with that on top of 50% wages?

Mine is 90% pay for 6 weeks and then 50% for 18 weeks with SMP so works out at roughly 5 months before SMP alone.
  • Hi girls!
Sorry I haven't had a chance to read much but I wondered how much weight you have gained by week 15?
I weighed myself last night & I was merely 100g heavier than I was 5 weeks ago.
I definitely look pregnant & whilst baby isn't very big, I thought I would weigh more due to the increase in my tummy & my b00bs!
Silly thing to be worrying about I know but just wondered if anyone was in the same boat?
I'm 5ft & my bmi was 25.3 or something along those lines x
  • Hi bumblebee, When I began to feel flutters and was also wondering if they were my digestion! I decided that sometimes it was, but because my uterus is at the front, if the flutters were at the front it was baby not gas! Goldfish in a bag is sort of how it felt.
At my scan they Confirmed my placenta is at the front, but not too low down, so that'll be why I felt less than some people.
Also as the muscles stretch they go 1st at from the centre, so feeling first there is common.
^ can you tell I was worried enough to google movement!

I haven't felt a Kick since Saturday, but blame my placenta for that!

credit crunch, I'm still lower in weight than when I got pregnant. By about 5kg! A couple of pages ago I answered someone else's v similar question from a book I have so that might help?

    Hello all

I've not posted for a bit, work, uni, life etc has just been crazy, I'm really struggling with tiredness, surely it's too early for that!

Bumblebee good luck tomorrow! I felt my first movement at 19+6, really odd, like they were too quick for me to be sure. But they soon get stronger! I wish this baby would stop kicking me in the lady bits (from the inside obviously!) OH managed to feel him kicking for the first time last week which he loved! If you watch, sometimes you can see my belly move a bit, like a twitch lol!!

Creditcrunch I have gained about 6lb since conception... but I have a high BMI and I was cadbury mini eggs dependent for a while lol!

Anyway, I CANNOT believe it, but it's time for me to graduate to the last thread... how the ???? did that happen!

Will be lurking for positive scan news from you all though xxx

    24+1 x

    Hi ladies,

Hope you are all doing well!

Sorry I haven't posted for a while as I've been really busy with work,, and then have been really busy on the weekends - would just love a weekend where I could chill out and do nothing - never going to happen with a nearly 3 year old and a OH who works inconvenient shifts! On the plus side it means time has flown by - I'm 20+3 already - over halfway - how did that happen?

Not really got much to update as not much has changed for me, still in pain with my pelvis but kind of used to it now and have good days and bad days with it, still not really sleeping at all, am getting very big now, have been asked if I'm sure I'm only having one! Apparently it's all out front though and you can't tell I'm pregnant from the back.

Welcome to all the ladies that have joined the thread since I last posted, hope your pregnancies are going smoothly!

Robots - glad your 2nd consultant appointment was better than the first! And congratulations on your successful scan!

Sunshine - glad everything was fine with baby at your rescan, fingers crossed your placenta moves up!

Hope the part time work is going well Lara, must be a relief after the disapointment of your placement getting cancelled!

Moonbabe I've been getting leg cramps a lot, I think they are quite normal in pregnancy.

Firey I don't know how you have the energy to do all that housework, I must admit OH is the one who does most of our housework usually, but I use being pregnant as an excuse not to do any of it! He's better at it than me anyway, I'm not exactly domesticated - I'd never make a good housewife!

Bumbleebee sorry to hear you're still having lots of worries and that your medical teams don't seem to be communicating with eachother, I think the issue with medication is that because they can't ethically test it on pregnant women they can't say whether it's safe or not as they just don't know. Hope all goes well at your scan tomorrow - are you feeling baby move yet? The flutters you are feeling probably are baby at this stage, I've felt baby move since about 13 weeks but I'm very sensetive to touch, plus 2nd time round it's a familiar feeling, like gentle poking at first. Sorry you're feeling nervous, hopefully you'll be reassured after tomorrow!
It is indeed my scan tomorrow too - can't believe it's here already, hoping to found out what we're having tomorrow as I don't like calling baby it. The 12 week scan wasn't very clear due to my high BMI so I'm hoping the image is clear enough to tell tomorrow. I'm not nervous as baby is kicking away much more now, I do wonder what position it is in though as it only kicks low down, I think it must be upside down, or stood up!

I don't know if I've gained or lost weight this pregnancy, at 12 weeks I'd lost 2.5kg I think, but I suspect it's gone back on, I have a high BMI anyway and I'm not overly bothered how much I put on, but I do intend to go on a diet once baby is here - something I didn't do after having DS.

I've got my GTT on 4th March and then on the 11th I have my consultant appointment about birthing options as I'm a high risk pregnancy due to complications in my first pregnancy/birth, so a busy couple of weeks coming up. But then I've got a couple of short breaks booked for the last couple of weeks of March, it will be nice to take a break from work. I'm only planning on working until 34 weeks at the end of May, so only about 2 months left to do after my holidays.
  • Hope everyone is doing well!

Had a little bit of a worrying time yesterday as our normally super active baby must of been having a lazy day! Went to the hospital at about 9pm and as soon as they put the doppler on me baby was moving and kicking away! Definitely taking after their Dad and being a pain in the backside already!! Was glad to be able to go in and be reassured though, even though now seeing the labour ward has made me a little terrified of having the baby! Think I may talk to my midwife about that at this weeks appointments as at the minute I cannot think of anything worse than having to give birth there!
