  • Hi all,

Lurking for news from Robots. Hope everything went well!

I remember a conversation about weight a page or so ago - Does anyone know how much weight we're "supposed" to gain when we're pregnant? I'm up by around 2.5 - 3 kg now (at nearly 19+ weeks) after losing weight to start with. I'm not particularly worried or anything, and I expect that "recommendations" will vary from person to person - just wondered if anyone had found a guideline?

Hi bumblebee, I think it's quite a difficult / controversial topic, with no real generic 'right answer'.

Saying that, I've been lent a book that I know a lot of people have used before me, which says as follows:

    Average expectation : 10 oz / 285g a week till 20 weeks
    Then 1 lb / 450g a week from 20-40 weeks.

    It also says:
    If you're underweight to start with - 13-24 kg / 28/40 lbs
    Normal weight to begin - 11 - 16 kg / 25-35 lbs
    Overweight - 7 - 11 kg / 15-25 lbs

    Then in the weekly section : at wk 19 : gained 3.6 - 6.3kg, / 8-14 lbs.

    ----

But do take it with caution,

At 21 + 2 weeks it says i should have gained 4.5-6.3kg (10-15 lbs)... But I'm still 4 kg lower than when I found out at c. 3 weeks! And my consultant is happy!

Congrats on the scan robots x

I know what you mean Derby its so strange to think its finally happening, I keep getting little bursts of happiness followed by moments of panic!

Just have to ask I'm sorry if it's tmi but can anyone else not stop trumping? It's really bad and embarrassing and I can't seem to stop!

We have our first baby things thanks to DH! He went to Disneyland paris to supervise a trip (he's a teacher) and brought back a cute piglet teddy and a thumper onesie so adorable! He even bought it in a bigger size as we're having a summer baby and it's quite a snuggly one. What a honey he is sometimes.

    hugs to all x

Delurking to say i empathise with your DH. When i told my grandparents i was pregnant i didnt feel like i was telling them we were expecting a baby, i felt like i was telling them we have had sex lol. :o

    relurking

Delurking too! I felt exactly the same when I told my dad lol! He hadn't even met my husband then either so it was doubly awkward!

Robots I am SOOO pleased to hear your appts have drastically improved and that you got an apology, and congrats on the great scan! :T

  • Hi ladies !

I'm 20 weeks today ! Soooooo happy !! Got my scan on the 7th March, really excited to see baby again. I can feel him/her moving around now, what an amazing feeling.

I cant remeber who was asking about weight gain. I've put on 4kg so far, and my BMI before baby was 21, so my doc said i could healthily gain up to 15kg, but no more... we'll see... the 7 hob nobs i just ate probably won't help with that.

Someone said that they were waking up really early and then working a 12 hour shift........ i feel ya ! I wake up around 3.30am then fall back to sleep about 5.30am only for my alarm to ring at 6.15am. Then off to work for 12 hours. Exhausted is not even the word :o

Robots, glad your scan went well :j
